Whittier Girls Softball League: WGSL League News!

Thursday, January 19
12U & 14U Parents and Players

I'd like to start by 1) Thanking each and everyone of you for coming out on such short notice. And, 2) For braving the severe weather that we had last night. What an experience. But, we persevered and we got through it. Thank you all for bearing with us and being as cooperative and understanding as you were. It was cold indeed!

I do however need to inconvenience you all again one more time.  Because we had to move forward your evaluation date, we did not have uniform samples available for you to demostrate last night.  You are now all kindly requested to attend uniform sizing this coming Saturday.  Below are the details:

Date: Saturday, 1/21

Location: EWMS (tennis courts) Field #1

Time: 9am - 12pm

This will also be your final opportunity to collect raffle tickets.  Those of you that registered online may not have yet collected your tickets. Please remember to do so this Saturday at uniform sizing. This should allow you sufficient time for sale of tickets.

I do want to apologize in advance for any inconvenience this reschedule may cause you.  And I thank you for your understanding in the matter.

Warning from the city about WGSL parking
Please let your parents know that many cars were ticketed this week for parking illegally. We do not want to lose our parking lot privileges, it takes just a few to ruin it for all. Also, ask parents to inform visiting family and friends at games that EVERYONE needs to be parked LEGALLY!!! If there is not a marked spot, please do not park there.

A league wide email should be going out shortly, but if you can please remind them for us at every practice until this matter is resolved.

FORWARDED FROM THE CITY:

Good Morning John,

Please send an email out to ALL parents and let them know they must park in marked parking stalls only.  The District is complaining and feel parents are just being disrespectful.

Please look into this for me so we don’t lose the lot.

Thanks.

Justin Steele

WGSL Update
1. Today begins the second half of the season. Some rule changes are taking place for a couple of divisions (read below). Also, players who did not evaluate to pitch during tryouts are now allowed to pitch 3 outs, but they cannot pitch the 1st inning. Each pitcher (Starter or Non-Starter are still allowed to re-enter only once).

A. 8U Division: If a batter gets 4 balls or gets hit by the pitch, they will go directly to 1st base. When the bases are loaded and the pitcher throws the 4th ball, the offensive coach will come out to pitch to the batter with the remainder of the strikes from the count to throw. (Ex. If a batter has 1 strike, they will get 2 coach pitches unless she keeps fouling off the last pitch). If a batter gets hit with the bases loaded, they will get 3 pitches from the coach regardless of how many strikes she had in the count. No bunting, stealing or leading off when the coach pitches. (A pitcher cannot walk in a run)

B. 10U Division: Pitchers are now allowed to pitch 12 outs instead of 9.

2. We have moved the Father Daughter Dance to Friday, April 1. It will still take place at the EWMS auditorium. We will begin selling tickets later this week.

3. We are having a board meeting this Friday, March 18 at 6pm at the Whittier Community Center. We are looking for 3 people to be on the nominating committee to recruit new board members for next season. If you or anyone you know is interested on being on this committee, please have them show up to the meeting this Friday.

Good luck the rest of the season to all teams!

Respecting Officials
Umpiress have the toughest job on the field. Without umpires the game simply wouldn't happen! It wouldn't start, wouldn't be fair and no one would validate the outcome. We need umpires! Being an umpire is a very difficult job. Respect umpires and preserve a positive environment for our girls and umpires.

Monday, September 28
Black-out dates at East Whittier MS
Reminder: We are blacked-out Wednesday, September 30 - Friday, October 2 at East Whittier MS because they are having a concert and the Harvest Festival at the school. Please encourage your girls to attend this event on Thursday or Friday as it is a fundraiser for the school and many of the girls participate in our softball league. We will resume with games on Saturday, October 3.

Monday, September 14
A few reminders:
1. On game days, both Whittier managers are in charge of doing the field maintenance (watering, dragging and chalking). If it is a Whittier team against another city, you will have to do the field by yourself. When you travel away, the other city will handle the field responsibilities.

2. We need to lock the restrooms every night. They were left open on Saturday night and once during the week. This is the 3rd email I've received from the district telling me we have not locked the restrooms. If you are the last team practicing or playing, please lock the restrooms. We don't want to lose the privilege of using the school restrooms. We will have to rent portables if we get them taken away.

3. We only have one pitching machine that works now. Someone took the screw from one of the machines which adjusts the height of the pitch and it no longer stays still. If you have the screw, please return it so we can have access to both machines.
We are going to have to adjust the batting cage schedule because we only have one that works.
-We are either going to half an hour each team or once a week for an hour.

4. Each team needs to take out a trash can on game days and then return it after your game and dump it in the big dumpsters. We had lots of trash left over on the fields on Saturday.

5. Game schedules for 10U, 12U, 14U are being finalized by the LH President right now. As soon as he gives me the Ok, I will send out the final version. The 6U and 8U are finalized. The 16U and select teams are still being worked on right now by the other President's.

Thursday, September 3

Message from the City of Whittier about Red Ants
WGSL called the EWCSD district office and they confirmed they were spraying tomorrow and Unfortunately we will have to cancel all practices tomorrow and Thursday (Back to School Night).

We already have some teams practicing at Joe Miller tomorrow on the dirt. Please call Patty if you want to practice on the grass at JM because we don't want too many teams on that field...it's small.

Message from the City of Whittier.

I don’t know if you guys are experiencing a red ant problems at EWMS but it seems to be a growing problem everywhere.  The District has scheduled a crew to come out and treat the problem tomorrow (Wednesday)

morning and has been instructed to keep everyone off, including PE classes and WGSL for a full 24 hours.   This was the only time this week the company could come and out and treat EWMS.

Monday, August 24
Black-out date this Thursday, August 27 at East Whittier MS
FYI, there is a Black-out date this Thursday, August 27 at East Whittier MS due to their Back to School Night. We cannot practice on the fields or cages this day.The fields are available this Friday if you want to practice on that date instead.

Also, we will not be having practices this Saturday at EWMS because we have field maintenance day and we are going to be nail dragging the fields and edging the grass line.

FYI, we are going to add a second field maintenance day but you only have to attend one of them. If you come this Saturday, you will not have to come to the next one. The next one will be the second week of October. We will most likely do it on Friday night so it does not interrupt any games. We will have a sign in sheet on Saturday for those of you who make it this weekend.

WGSL FALL Managers
A few reminders:
Today is the last day to get your team fitted for their jerseys if you want to guarantee they will arrive on time before the first game. Gina will be on Field #1 between 6-7pm. If you have any questions regarding uniforms, please contact her at 562-822-8274.

If your team practices until 8-9pm, you are most likely the last team at the field so you must lock all the gates and restrooms. The gates were left open overnight twice this past week.

There is lots of trash that is being left behind in the dugouts and the around the fields. Every manager/team is responsible for picking up after each practice/game.

Lets keep our fields looking good by watering them and dragging them on a daily basis.

Finalized practice schedule later today or tomorrow. If you want to practice on the dirt this Saturday, please email me back by Wednesday. We are going to give priority to those that did not get dirt time this past Saturday.

WGSL Fall Scheduled Dirt Time
Managers,
Attached are the tentative practice schedules for this Fall. For now, Please use only your scheduled dirt time until the schedule gets finalized. We will be calling the teams with dirt time on Monday & Tuesday and try to give you time this Wednesday or Thursday to make up for your lost day on the dirt. Later, we will also be splitting some dirt time equally for teams on the open time slots. If you have any questions, with your practice days and/or times, please call Patty Salazar.

FYI, for the 3 managers that have Joe Miller, we are Not allowed to practice on that field until next week, August 19. We will schedule you at Whittier for this week and next week to get your fair share of dirt time and practices.

Gina Aparicio (Uniform Coordinator) will be on the bleachers on Field #1 to size your girls for their jersey. Please make it a point to stop by on  Wednesday or Thursday from 5:30-7:30pm. Those will be the only 2 days we try on uniforms because we have to turn in the order to Sargent's on Friday morning.
          - If you have a player that has not paid their registration fee, they will not get their uniform until the fee is paid in full..

Monday, August 10
WGSL Parents,

We are planning to have our player drafts today (Only managers show up to the draft). We are still missing managers in some divisions which means we will have some girls on the waiting list unless we get managers before the draft.

In the 10U division, we are missing one (1) manager. We currently have 83 players registered which means we will have 6 teams with 13 players and 5 girls will be placed on the waiting list.

In the 12U division, we are missing two (2) managers. We currently have 68 players registered which means we will have 4 teams with 13 players and 16 girls will be placed on the waiting list.

In the 14U division, we are missing one (1) manager. We currently have 42 players registered which means we will have 3 teams of 13 players and 3 girls will be placed on the waiting list.

In the 16U division, we are missing one (1) manager. The number of girls registered are still TBD.

*If you are interested in managing a team in the 10U, 12U, 14U or 16U divisions, please call 562-201-6450 ASAP.

Managers will be calling their parents either Tuesday or Wednesday with team information.

Tuesday, August 4
WGSL FALL Managers
-First of all, Thank You all for taking a team this Fall. We really appreciate the time and effort you put into coaching the girls.
-We are still looking for a few more managers to avoid putting girls on a waiting list and also to lower the number of girls per team.
-Our online registration will close tomorrow so we will know the exact number of girls per division on Tuesday.

We have scheduled the player drafts for Thursday, August 6 at Marie Callender's (La Serna Drive).
6U & 8U at 5:30pm
10U at 7:00pm
12U at 8:00pm
-Reminder, every team is allowed 6 freezes in the Fall. You must have the parents sign the forms and bring them to the draft.
-The manager and one assistant coach are allowed at the draft

Tuesday, August 4
WGSL Parents

Online registration has close, August 3. We have a very high number of girls participating in Fall Ball this season. We are right at 300 girls and last year we had about 240. To accomodate all the girls and place everyone on a team, we need more managers. We still need one more manager in the 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U divisions. To avoid placing any girl on the waiting list, we need to fill these managerial positions. Our division reps will be calling the parents of all the girls who are on the waiting list within the next few days.  Tentatively, we have the player draft scheduled for August 5 & 6 (Only managers need to attend the drafts). Your manager will be calling you between August 7-9 and practices will begin the week of August 10.  If you are interested in managing a team, please email me at whittiergirlssoftball@gmail.com.

We will be sizing the girls for their uniforms the first week of practice. We will coordinate days/times with the managers/team moms. Every player will receive a pant voucher to be redeemed at Sargent's Sporting Goods.

Wednesday, July 8
Interested in taking a team

Fall Ball is just around the corner. We need to know if you are
interested in taking a team this Fall. If so, we would like to
know by July 30 because we are selecting managers the next day. Please
email me what division you are interested in managing. You do not need
to fill out the application for the Fall if you filled one out for
Spring...I just need a email confirmation sent to
whittiergirlssoftball@gmail.com.

Reminders:
1. You get 6 Freezes in the Fall.
2. There are NO player evaluations in the Fall
3. Pitchers do not get classified as "Aces" in the Fall. You can have more than one Ace on a team.
4. It will be a snake draft just like in Spring.

WGSL Report
David Priest will be at the field today around 5pm to collect
equipment (catchers equipment, balls, etc). If you did not turn in
your equipment on Saturday and can't make it today, please make
arrangements with David to meet up and return your equipment.

Once again, thank you for volunteering to take a team this Spring.
Hopefully you had a good experience and are considering taking a team
in the Fall. We are opening Fall Ball online registrations today. We
will use the same "Manager's Application" for those interested in
taking a team in the Fall.

This Friday, we have a board meeting at 6pm at the Whittier Community
Center where we will be having board elections. If you or anyone you
know is interested in running for a position, please let them know to
attend this meeting.

The Bullying Experiment! (Would You Help Someone Being Bullied Right In Front Of You?)

Monday, March 30
WGSL Mandatory Field Maintenance: (Watering/Dragging Fields, Trash Cans)

a.    Managers: It is your responsibility to water & drag the field after your games/practices. BOTH managers must help with the field set up for games.

b.    Every manager must also bring out a green trash can before the game and dump it after the game.

*We have been receiving too many complaints from managers about other managers/teams NOT helping with the set-up and/or clean-up during game days. It is the responsibility of Both managers/teams to assist with field maintenance. If one manager/team sets up the field alone, the other team must drag and put the bases/equipment away. Managers, if you cannot help with the set-up for whatever reason, give the opposing manager a courtesy call or text and let them know.

-Starting Monday, March 30, we are asking for managers to email Division Reps if an opposing team did not help out with any part of the set-up/clean-up. They will be issuing a warning for the first time and then if it happens again, they will be forced to suspend managers from a game. All we are asking for is that all managers/teams work together to make our fields look good and are safe for our girls to play on.

Monday, March 30
EWMS Black-out Dates (May 6-8)

a.    The district just told us we are blacked out from May 6-8 due to the EWMS Music Pops Concert. We are not allowed to be on the school grounds from Wednesday-Friday. This is going to interfere with the end of the year tournament. Our tentative plan for the 8U & 10U divisions will be to take the Top 4 teams in the standings and have a single elimination tournament on May 4-5. We are still deciding what to do with the 6U, 12U and 14U divisions. We will keep you updated as soon as the board makes a final decision.

Monday, March 30
WGSL Half-way point of the season

a.    The half-way point of the season will start after our Spring Break…Monday, March 30. Some of the playing rules will change for a couple of divisions.

                                              i.     8U Division – If a batter receives 4 Balls or gets hit by the pitch in the 2nd half of the season, they will advance to 1st base automatically if the bases are not loaded. If the bases are loaded, they will get “Coach Pitch.”

ii.     10U Division – Pitchers shall be limited to nine (9) outs per game during the 1st half of the season and twelve (12) outs per game the 2nd half of the season.

Wednesday, March 11
President's Message

1.    Game times

2.    12U & 14U Mid-season Tournament

a.    The 12U & 14U mid-season inter-league tournament will take place next week. The tournament bracket will come out later this week.

3.    Half-way point of the season

St. Patrick's Day Festivities
Every year we have celebrated St. Patrick's Day on the field, this year we will be celebrating during games on Saturday, March 14th.

Feel free to be creative and make it fun for the girls in any way that is age appropriate and follows all league and school rules. (No alcohol including Green Beer, no pets, no smoking, etc.). Teams have made game t-shirts (must include player number in plain sight), purchased game socks, decorated dug-outs, etc. Just make sure to have fun with it and not stress yourself out with your plan. We encourage you to ask for help from other parents on your team.

It is not a mandatory event, but the players have so much fun with it, we hope everyone participates.

*** GOLD COIN WINNERS ***
In previous years we have had team moms hide gold coins for players to find, the winner receives a hot dog meal from the snack shack, but since we do not have a snack shack, we will be giving away small St. patrick's Day prizes to the lucky winners. I will pass out gold coins the week before, prizes will be passed out on Saturday by board members on duty.

Please make sure to take photos of all festivities and send them to our league webmaster through e-mail: kaymia_graphics@me.com .

***** Please remember to clean up your items after each game, if the next team coming in wants decorations left up, it will be their responsibility to clean it up once their game is done. *****

If you have any questions, please contact me at 562.818.3735.

Thank you and have a fun and safe St. Patrick's Day!

WGSL Managers Report

 1.    WGSL Playing Rules

a.    Please download the WGSL Playing Rules and have them with you at every game. There have been some changes to the old rules so it is important to go over these rules with the managers and umpires before the game to prevent any delay in the game due to rule interpretations. Some of our umpires work for more than 4 different leagues so they may need some rule clarifications.

2.    Scorebooks/Scorecards

a.    We have Official Scorebooks for every division to use during Home games

                                              i.     They will be kept in the Blue Bin by the snack shack. Please return them after every game.

b.    We will have individual Scorecards available for those teams who play at a different location. They will also be kept in the Blue Bin.

3.    Mandatory Field Maintenance: (Watering/Dragging Fields, Trash Cans)

a.    Managers: It is your responsibility to water & drag the field after your games/practices. Both managers must help with the field set up for games.

b.    Every manager must also bring out a green trash can before the game and dump it after the game. We had a couple of instances of both already Not being done after the Saturday games. We must remember that we are on a school campus and we need to keep the campus clean.

4.    Game Balls

a.    David Priest (Equipment Coordinator) is going to give each manager brand new game balls this weekend for the entire season which every Home team manager will have to provide to the umpire.

5.    Bins

a.    We have 2 new bin locks (Field 1 & 4) that we put in at the beginning of the season. If you practice on those fields, please get a key from David. The Field 1 bin has a small silver round lock that needs to be put on and locked every day.

6.    Catechism

a.    I have had a couple of managers call about players having to leave the game early due to having to attend mandatory catechism classes. According to our rules, the manager must notify the opposing manager prior to the game and note the incident on the scorebook. Our league rule state: “In the event that a player must leave a game as a result of personal obligation, that players’ position in the batting order shall be removed from the order without penalty.

7.     Practice before a Game

a.    If a team wishes to practice on a field prior to a 7pm game only, they must notify both of the managers playing to find out what time they plan on setting up the field for their game.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or call me at 562-201-6450. Good luck to all teams.

Thanks,

Carlos Aparicio

Parent Tip
If you have something to tell your child about her attitude, effort, support of teammates, or another issue, try asking for her permission. This will make her more open to your feedback. You might say, "There's something I've noticed you could do that would help you be a better teammate. Do you mind if I tell you?" If she answers "no," you must respect that and wait for other opportunities.

WGSL President’s Message
Our WGSL Fall ball season is going on week 3 now. Hopefully our girls are enjoying themselves and learning new skills on the field to help them be successful. These extra practices and games will help them for the Spring season and potentially prepare them for All Stars. Good luck to all our Whittier teams.

WGSL has opened up the Blacktop area for vendor booths during the Saturday games. Each team will be given a chance to use this opportunity to run a booth as a fundraiser for FREE now. In order to ensure profitability for teams/vendors, we will not allow for duplicate booths. WGSL will be selling water, Gatorade, sodas, chips, seeds, cookies and candy. We will have our regular snack shack open every Saturday and most weekends we will open a snack shack on the black top which makes it more convenient for the people playing on fields 3 &4 (No snack shack on black top this Saturday).  If we have openings available after teams have signed up, we will reach out to the community to pay a one-time only $25 vendor fee and set up a booth with their products. Please email our VP Patty Salazar at gottago2practice@yahoo.com to reserve a booth as they are on a first come first serve basis.

Next week, we have a few black-out dates at East Whittier MS for their annual Harvest Festival. We cannot practice or play from Wednesday, October 1-Friday, October 3. Please come out and support this event as many of our girls attend EWMS and will be working some of the booths.

Reminder: Tuesday, September 30 is the last day to redeem your pant vouchers at Sargent’s. They will not accept the vouchers after this day.

Old News
In order to provide necessary upgrades (cementing the 6U & 8U dugouts, buying new pitching machines and purchasing a new lawn mower/dragger, etc.), WGSL will be asking for a $100 sponsorship fee from each team. Any sponsorship received over the $100 will go back directly to your team. We are asking that teams turn in the Sponsorship by October 1st.  If you know of anyone interested in sponsoring your team please talk to your team mom. If you have a person or company that wants to help sponsor our league, please email us at whittiergirlssoftball@gmail.com.  The Sponsorship Form is available on the WGSL website.

We will be partnering with local restaurants offering “No Cook Nights” for our league.  Our first scheduled No Cook Night will be held at the Shakey’s in Whittier on Thursday, October 2 from 5-9pm (Black-out day at EWMS).  Flyers for this event will be given to Team Moms for distribution. You do not need to present the flyer when paying, you just need to mention you are here with WGSL. Though participation isn’t mandatory, please mark your calendars to show your support for our league with your attendance.

Next general board meeting is scheduled for October 24, 2014 at 6:30pm at the Whittier Community Center (Room 3).

Thanks,
Carlos Aparicio

Fall Ball Update
I have a few reminders and some new information to pass along.
1. Our Fall Ball season will now start on Saturday, September 13, not on the 6th of September. LH requested to push back the start date because they can't start practice until September 2nd. Also, some of our girls are still playing at Sorenson Park on Saturday, September 6th.

2. We will have mandatory field maintenance day for all teams (besides the 8U teams that came last week) this Sunday starting around 7am. We are requiring at least 3 people per team to attend and help out. If your field is in good condition and has plenty of volunteers, please assist with the 6U field if you can. That is the field that needs the most help and we only have 2 teams playing in that division in the Fall.
          - We are also asking that all teams stay off the dirt the Monday and Tuesday after field maintenance day (You can still practice on the grass area and cages). We will be watering and putting some clay on the fields.
         - Reminder: Water and drag the field after every practice/game

3. We will be having a Fundraiser this Fall and asking every team to get a $100 Sponsorship. Any donation after the $100 will go to your team. Every sponsor will need to fill out a "Sponsorship Form" which is online. The sponsor will need to write the full amount of the donation to WGSL and the League will reimburse the team the balance after $100 in the form of a check or cash.
        - Once we get a Team Mom Coordinator this weekend, we will have them pass along more details to all the Team Moms.

Why Play Youth Sports?
The lifelong friends you’ve made. The coaches you will never forget. The fun you had with the teammates who taught you there is more to sports than wins and losses. These are just a few of the reasons why you wouldn’t trade your youth sports experiences for anything in the world.

But will your children enjoy similar experiences?

Unfortunately, many children aren’t building memories such as these. Why?

Maybe the “win-at-all-costs” mentality that has become part of all levels of youth sports has taken much of the fun out of the game. Maybe the relentless pull of new technology creates fonder memories than they’re getting from fields of play. Whatever the reasons, we hope parents and continue to encourage their kids to continue their youth sports experiences.

Keeping kids involved in sports ensures that they at least have a chance to create those special sports memories and also contributes to their continued physical activity and all the benefits that come with it.

To help get you thinking about the ways to frame and discuss the many rewards of participating in sports to your kids, we have outlined four of the central benefits of youth sports participation:

  • Fitness – Youth sports provide fun reasons for your kids to get off of the couch and get active.
  • Friendships – Teammates often become life-long best friends.
  • Wisdom – From learning how to overcome individual challenges to how to succeed on a team, youth sports is the platform from which many of life’s most valuable lessons are learned.
  • Focus – The mental preparation that it takes to succeed in youth sports provides the groundwork for successboth in school and later in life.

Thursday, June 26
Amateur Softball Association's Coach Candrea discusses five common tendencies of a nightmare sports parent.

I decided to ask some former players a simple question: “What is your worst memory from playing youth and high school sports?”

The overwhelming response: “The ride home from games with my parents.”

The same former players were asked what their parents said that made them feel great, that made them enjoy the game and even over perform. The overwhelming response – “I love to watch you play.”

In this article, I would like to focus on the nightmare sports parent and next month talk about the ideal sports parent. Nearly 75 percent of kids who play organized sports quit by age 13. Some find that their skill level hits a plateau and the game is no longer fun. Others simply discover other interests. But too many promising young athletes turn away from sports because their parents become insufferable. The parents or parent that is so loving and rational at home becomes the straw that breaks the camel’s back. It is sad to say but a lot of kids internally reach the conclusion that if they quit the sport, maybe they will get their Dad or Mom back!

As a sport parent, this is what you don’t want to become. Here are a few thoughts that you may try to avoid to make your child’s experience a good one. After all, Softball is nothing more than a platform to learn how to be successful. Team work, work ethic, handling the ups and downs in performance – these are skills that we will draw to later in life.

Overemphasizing sports at the expense of sportsmanship: The best athletes keep their emotions in check and handle the ups and downs, win or lose. Parents that are demonstrative in showing displeasure during a contest are sending the wrong message. Encouragement is crucial – especially when things are not going well on the field.

Having different goals than your child: Bruce E. Brown and Rob Miller of Proactive Coaching LLC, suggest jotting down a list of what you want for your child during their sport season. Your son or daughter can do the same. Vastly different lists are a red flag. Kids generally want to have fun, enjoy their time with their friends, improve their skills and win. Parents who write down “getting a scholarship” or “making the All-Star team” probably need to adjust their goals. “Athletes say their parents believe their role on the team is larger than what the athlete knows it to be,” Miller says.

Treating your child differently after a loss than a win: Almost all parents love their children the same regardless of the outcome of the game. Yet often their behavior conveys something else. Many young athletes indicate that conversations with their parents after a game somehow make them feel as if their value as a person is tied to playing time or winning.

Undermining the coach: Young athletes need a single instructional voice during games. That voice has to be the coach. Kids who listen to their parents yelling instructions from the stands or even glancing at their parents for approval from the field are distracted and can’t perform at a peak level. If you are second-guessing the coach on the ride home – maybe you need to coach a team!

Living your athletic dream through your child: A sure sign is the parent taking credit when the child has done well. Another symptom is when the outcome of the game means more to a parent than to the child. If you as a parent are still depressed by a loss when the child is already off playing with friends, remind yourself that it’s not your career and you have zero control over the outcome. Your job is to encourage and support your child!

Next month we will focus on the ideal sports parent!

Coach Mike Candrea
