Perhaps the most mystical of the Whales. Enigmatic is a word often used about him (in this write up, in any case). Capacious is another, when referring to his seemingly boundless general knowledge. Indeed, on one particularly slow-starting Sunday night at an OBW he volunteered himself as a trivia machine (the one in the Union had packed up). Such was the faith in his knowledge that his answers were never questioned. His failure to pay up when we hit the jackpot was, however.
Excepting Gleggy & Jason R, Gary is possibly the most travelled Oldperson, with his recent 6 month sabbatical around the middle east/Indian subcontinent reinforcing his league position.
One tip for you - don't mention DIY to him at the moment.
