Western Greenbrier Cavaliers
Welcome to the official website of the Western Greenbrier Cavaliers! The Cavaliers are a youth organization serving children ages 6-12 from the Danese, Meadow Bridge, Quinwood, Rainelle, Rupert and Smoot areas. We offer competitive, contact football and competitive cheerleading for the following divisions: Peanut (ages 6 & 7), JV (ages 8 & 9), and Varsity (ages 10, 11, & 12). The Cavaliers are proud members of the South Eastern Youth Football League. The SEYFL includes the Alderson Chiefs, Lewisburg Steelers, Pocahontas County Warriors, Ronceverte Raiders, Summers County Bobcats, Union Bulldogs, and White Sulphur Springs Falcons. Western Greenbrier Football League was founded in 1999. The teams competed under the nickname Western Greenbrier Vikings in the New River Valley Conference. Western Greenbrier joined the SEYFL in December of 2004 and continued to compete as the Vikings for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. To further cement our commitment to building championship football teams in the future, we hope to instill a new level of pride by converting our colors to blue and gold and our name to Cavaliers. Western Greenbrier football is like no other.
The Western Greenbrier Cavaliers and Western Greenbrier Football League are not affiliated with Greenbrier West High School, the Greenbrier Co. Board of Education, or the WVSSAC. We are a non-profit organization for youth (ages 6-12) that is committed to teaching the fundamentals of football and cheerleading while instilling the values of pride, commitment, teamwork and sportsmanship.
Western Greenbrier Football League does not accept unsolicited e-mails concerning fundraising, camps, or supplies. If you wish to contact WGFL regarding these matters, send an e-mail requesting "permission to discuss" first.

Can sixth grade students play football for the middle school?
I've been asked several times whether or not sixth grade students may now play for the middle school. Here is the proposal that was approved by the WVSSAC BOC and then by the WV Department of Education on 7-10-08.
Amend 127-2-3 Enrollment and Team Membership (Pg. 15) as follows: 3.5. Sixth grade students may be eligible to participate in interscholastic sport teams, except football, in the middle school in which they are enrolled. Beginning school year 2009-2010 sixth grade students may be eligible to participate in all interscholastic sport teams, including football, in the middle school in which they are enrolled
