History This is a girls select soccer team from St. Louis, Missouri. Established in 2009, this team began with the idea of uniting talented players who reside in the Webster Groves community. Now in its 5th year, the team has developed into a program that unites talented players from the entire St. Louis metropolitan area.Mission The team's mission is to develop skillful, creative and confident soccer players who have a passion for the game. This includes developing all four components of the modern soccer player's game: technical, tactical, pyschological and physical aspects. In doing so, the team serves to develop other positive qualities such as teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship. Players The team is comprised of Freshmen (Class of 2016) Sophomores (Class of 2015) and Juniors (Class of 2014). The team's players attend various high schools including Cor Jesu, St. Joseph's, Ursuline, Clayton, Oakville, Lutheran North, Rockwood Summit, Parkway South and Webster Groves. 17 of the players have been involved in the program for 3 or more seasons. Click here for a list of the players. Coaching The three coaches are licensed and together have over 30 years of combined soccer coaching experience including other teams with St. Louis Scott Gallagher, WC St. Louis, and JB Marine Soccer Club. Click here for more information regarding the coaches. Games The team has played in competitive leagues, tournaments, showcases and state cup. The team has traveled to out-of-town events to find new competition, promote team chemistry, and play in front of college scouts. The team has won 6 league titles as well as 4 tournament championships. Click here for outdoor results. Click here for futsal results. Click here for video highlights. Training At this age group, the primary focus is to develop advanced technical and tactical skills. Players are encouraged to continually strive to achieve their highest level of success on the field during training sessions. Fall outdoor team training has been primarily held in the Webster Groves area on lighted fields. Professional goalkeeper training has been held with St. Louis Goalkeeping Academy. Winter indoor footskills training as well as futsal leagues have been played during the winter months to promote technical ball skills, creativity, and confidence on the ball. Fitness Other professional athletic programs (eg., strength, speed, agility, and injury prevention training) with Athletic Republic have been incorporated into the program and offered to the players. Click here for more information. College Recruiting The program seeks to find ways for players who want to reach the next level to be exposed to college coaches through games, tournaments and college showcases. College soccer recruiting expert, Tim Twellman, gave the team parents a seminiar outlining the important steps the players should be taking. Players are encouraged to meet with Tim Twellman to develop their own personal college recruiting plan as soon as possible. Click here for more information. Academics / College Test Prep Players are encouraged to give their academic studies the highest priority. The team integrated within the soccer team's practice and game schedule a professional ACT preparation class with The Princeton Review to enhnace the players chances of obtaining better ACT test scores. Click here for more information. Muti-Sports Players are encouraged to become well-rounded young women. Many of the players are multi-sport athletes and participate in other high school sports (volleyball, tennis, softball, cross country, field hockey, swimming, and basketball) which helps round-out the players' overall athletic coordination, confidence, and ability. Social The players and families have shared off-the-field activities together including enjoying food, drinks and celebrations at our sponsor's establishment (Llywelyn's Pub) located in Webster Groves, Missouri. Along the way, the girls are developing soccer skills, friendships and memories that last a lifetime. |
