2011 U12 Boys win Session 1 at Sherwood
|
| U12 Boys win in style at Sherwood session one playoffs. The boys had a hard played win in round one where the score was tied and the team won 3-2 in pentaly kicks. Then they moved on to the power team in the division all session the EP Oceaneers team. The game was a great battle of two defensive teams. The Rabbid Squirrel's (WFFSC) got the first break when one of the WFFSC boys took a long shot and the Oceaners goalie misplayed the shot and it bounced over head and into the goal. That was all the team needed to win 1-0 and take the much deserved championship. The Fire Fighters team had not beaten either team during the season and were dominated by the Oceaneers until it really counted. |

In the preliminary rounds, the team lost to Bruno 3-1 and beat Bayside 2-0 to make it into the semi-finals against South County. They beat South County with a 1-0 score to face Bruno again in the finals. Bruno, as the defending champions, won 4-0 is a very hard-fought game that the final score does not quite reflect. 2010 WFFSC U15 Boys Win Prestigious Seaside Tournament Open Division
|
| The U15 Boys team played in the difficult Open Division in the prestigious Seaside Tournament where they faced some extremely talented opposition. The first two games were against teams from South County and the result was one victory (3-0) and one tie. Then they played the U15 team from Blackwatch, a club designated as a premier club in Rhode Island. After a tough battle, WFFSC emerged victorious with a 1-0 victory.
This got the team into the Finals against another team from a premier club - East Hudson Academy in New York. The final score was 2-2 and then tiebreakers came into play since the tournament does not have overtime periods or do shootouts to determine a victor. Since WFFSC team had two shutouts to only one for East Hudson, WFFSC was crowned the champion. This is a tremendous accomplishment for a town club such as WFFSC to go to such a high quality tournament with teams from premier clubs from around the Northeast and come away with the championship. |

2010 U12 Boys team win quarter-finals game in RI Cup
| From Coach Bill Cocroft:
The U12 boys battled against the Portsmouth Pirates. Early on in the game our starter goal keeper Rawson made a dive to make a great save and possibly broke his shoulder. We called on Liam Strain to step up during a zero to zero game. Liam proved he could be a relief goalie and maintain the shut out. The regulation game ended with a score tied at 0 to 0. We went into sudden death over time and again ended with a 0 to 0 tie . During the 2nd sudden death the action was fierce but again ends as a tie. The Fire Fighters moved to sudden death Penalty Kicks. Mason Cocroft, Nick Paolino and Jake Lima were successful with PK goals and ended a great match with a win of 3 PK goals to 2. |

2007 U14 Boys Win Father's Day tournament in history-making action

| U14 Boys Win Championship!! |
|
The U-14 Boys won the 2007 North Kingstown Father's Day Tournament in history making form. The Team ended the regular 3 guaranteed game play with a 2-0-1 record. WFFSC then had to wait for the results of another game (Ocean State vs. South County) before they knew they made the championship game. The results of the Ocean State vs. South County game did not produce a winner for the division. Instead WFFSC and Ocean State were in a knotted up tie through all five procedures used to determine the winner of the division (i.e. - (1) results of head-to-head competition; (2) most victories; (3) fewest losses; (4) least goals allowed; and (5) most goals scored with no more than a four goal differential spread allowed per game). According to Tournament officials this has never before happened in the history of the Tournament. The determining procedure came in the form of a best of 5 person shoot-out. WFFSC needed just four opportunities to win the chance to play in the title game hitting 3 of 4 goals with Ocean State hitting only 1 of 4. Chris Quinn had two amazing saves in those missed goals for Ocean State and the third sailed over the goal out of play. Once in the championship game WFFSC battled anothre team from South County and the winner of their Division to a 2 to 2 tie in regulation play. After a ten minute overtime period the score was still 2 to 2. The U-14 Boys then entered their second shoot-out of the day with again a best of 5 goal making opportunity. This time it took 5 opportunities to seal the win for WFFSC making 3 of 5 attempts while giving up just 1 of 4 to South County. 2007 WFFSC U12 Boys Win Rhode Island State Championship!!!
|
|
The U12 Boys team from WFFSC won the Rhode Island State Championship and will represent Rhode Island in the US Youth Soccer League National Championship Tournament. The national tournament is divided into four regions. Rhode Island champions play in Region 1 that comprises the Northeast including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and the New England states. The games for Region 1 will be played in Portland Maine the weekend of June 29-July 3. On Thursday, June 28th the team will participate in the parade of champions. They will play games on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with possible playoffs on Monday and Tuesday. This is a huge accomplishment for this team and WFFSC. This is the first town club boys team in RI to win a state championship in several years, being that typically the champions come from the premier clubs. This is a tribute to the players, the coaches, and WFFSC for being able to compete and win consistently at this level of competition. The team won against Blackwatch 2-1 in an exciting final game to win the championship. Congratulations to the players, their parents, and the coaches for this great success.
