Webpage Last Revised: 6:30 PM, 11/7/2009 Fall Rec Looks to be a beautiful day, a little on the cool side, but a great day to finish the season. Be sure to dress warm and enjoy the hot coffee at the concession stand. Remember the cleat swap is still going for today. Reminder: Weather cancelled all U6/U8/U10 games on Saturday Oct 3. All games that would have been played that day will be made up on Saturday Nov 7 using the game schedule from Oct 3 (unless you are told otherwise by your coach). No U6 clinic on Wednesday, Nov 4. Coaches: If you have games that you will not be able to make up, please return any remaining ref fees to the concession stand. U6/U8/U10 Coaches: If you have not yet picked up team trophies, contact Paul Galamaga at 451-6162 to make arrangements. U12/U15 Team Final Standings Scores and standings are kept for the U12/U15 teams for Fall Rec. The team that finished with the best record represented WFFSC at the SRI-sponsored, season-ending Kohl's Cup Tournament where teams from across the state will compete. Final standings have been updated under Handouts. Congratulations to the following teams who played in the Kohl's Cup over the Halloween weekend. WFFSC is proud of the way the teams represented the club and hopefully the kids enjoyed the tournament. New Board has been elected and info is available under the menu item on left side of the page. WFFSC 25th Anniversary Festival What a Great Success!!! WFFSC was formed in 1984 so this is the 25th year of the club. In order to celebrate this momentous occasion, WFFSC held a festival at Winslow for current and former members of the club on Saturday, September 26th. The festival was a huge success with hundreds and hundreds of people participating and enjoying the beautiful day with games, food, raffles, etc. Thanks to everyone who made the festival possible. Now back to practices and games. :) WFFSC Night At New England Revolution WFFSC has discounted tickets for the October 17th game at Gillette Stadium in honor of WFFSC Night at the NE Revolution. The Revs play the Chicago Fire that evening at 6:00 PM. Information is available in Handouts. 2009-2010 Select Program Indoor soccer has begun. WFFSC is proud to have 30+ teams playing winter soccer. A list of all WFFSC Recreational head coaches along with phone numbers and email addresses is now available in the "handouts" section of the web site (check the links on the left side of the page). Directories will NOT be handed out on paper this season. The directory is available in Word or HTML formats. All coaches should download a copy and put it in their coach's binder.
WFFSC Announces Winners of 2009 College Scholarship Program WFFSC is pleased to announce its first annual College Scholarship Program. Two $500 scholarships are available to high school graduates (class of 2009) who plan to attend an institution of higher education and are either current or former soccer players with WFFSC. Several applications were submitted and all were excellent, making the choice by the committee extremely difficult. The two winners of the $500 scholarships are: Bridgett Carter and Ashley Jamieson WFFSC wishes them the best for their academic success in the future and we thank them for their participation in our soccer club and having helped make it the success it is today. See picture under WFFSC News. USYSL RI State Champions WFFSC is proud to have two teams that won the RI State Cup Championships in the US Youth Soccer League National Tournament. The U18 Girls coached by Mario Santos and the U12 Boys coached by Walter Pastor will now represent RI in the Region I Championships held in West Virgina over the July 4th weekend. WFFSC wishes these teams the best of luck in their success. RI SuperLiga Champions Congratulations to the WFFSC U16 Girls team coached by Jim Sullivan for winning the RI SuperLiga State Championship. This team has had a dominating season winning many tournaments, such as the Amherst Memorial Day Tournament, as well as this state championship. Well done. Mario Santos named as Coach of the Year in Rhode Island Each year Soccer RI honors special coaches in RI who give so much to the kids in the community. WFFSC is extremely honored that Mario Santos has been selected as the Coach of the Year for Girls. Mario will be honored at the SRI Expo Banquet at the Crowne Plaza on February 28th. Tom Williams Inducted into Soccer RI Hall of Fame It is with great pride and extreme honor to announce that Tom Williams was inducted posthumously into the Soccer RI Hall of Fame on February 23rd. Tom was an instrumental part of WFFSC for so many years and as president lead the club to the success it enjoys today. The induction ceremony was held at the Second Annual Soccer RI Awards Banquet on February 23rd at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and was attended by Tom's family and many friends from WFFSC. See the tribute to Tom in the menu on the left side of this page. There is also a picture of the award acceptance.
Former President of WFFSC Inducted Into Hall of Fame Steve Marcoccio, former president of WFFSC, was also inducted into the SRI Hall of Fame for his work in the soccer community, both at WFFSC and at RI Rays. WFFSC has been privileged to have such dedicated soccer volunteers in our club over its history.

WFFSC Awards College Scholarships
The award recipients were Bridgett Carter and Ashley Jamieson. Bridgett is attending Sacred Heart University pursuing a degress in Biology and Ashley is attending Salve Regina University pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. Both Bridgett and Ashley have played soccer at WFFSC for many years. WFFSC is very proud to be able to award these $500 scholarships to these two highly-qualified students.
