2009 Umpire Rates/Information
2007 Major Level Umpires: GWSBL schedules official umpires for the Major Level Only through the Cumberland Valley Umpire Association.
The GWSBL contact for league supplied umpires is Andy Smith (805-2789). The Cumberland Valley Umpire Association contact is Ron Lewis (774-3681). Umpires for makeup games will be scheduled, when you reschedule the game with Scott Bury.
Home Team Manager must contact Ron Lewis 90 minutes before game time to cancel a CV Umpire without a fee. If an umpire is not notified in time and arrives at the field, the Home Team must pay him $17.
The 2008 rate for the CV Umpire Association is $35.00 per game for
(1) one umpire at the 11/12 year old level (Major Games). CV Umpires should be paid before the game and preferably in cash.
If a game is called or cancelled at the field due to weather, the umpire receives $17 for appearing. The rate for an umpire working a rescheduled continuation of a suspended game is $6 per inning.
Minor Level Umpires: The home team is responsible to supply umpires for the 9/10 year old Minor Level. Umpires under 16 years MUST have completed a 4 hour training class provided by the league. Minumum umpire age is 13 years and umpires 13 years must be accompanied by another umpire the same age or older. Please remember that our younger umpires are still learning the game and skill of calling a game. If an obvious mistake or bad call is made, approach this as an opportunity as an adult coach to help the younger umpire learn. Try to discuss it between innings or at an appropriate time. Verbal abuse of our umpires (especially our young adults) will not be tolerated by the league.
The suggested fees approved by the GWSBL board for Minor Level Umpires: Adult Umpire (over 18) $25 per game Umpires 13-18 $12 each for two umpires (total $24) One umpire 14-18 years old $20 per game. If a game is called or cancelled at the field then the umpire should receive $10 for appearing.
