Rockies Win 2008 Fall Cup Championship
Weston Three-peats as NELL 2008 Fall Champs WESTON- OCTOBER 26 - The Weston 10/11-year-old team won the NELL Fall baseball Championship with a 9-2 win over Newton Central LL, powered by the strong offense that scored 143 runs during the regular season. Clutch hits from Ben Hamblett, Ryan Doorandish, Jack Fleckner, Lucas Cramer and Sam Wisnia put the game away in the late innings. The victory marked the third straight year that Weston has won the championship in this exciting fall league. This championship capped a perfect 13-0 season for Weston. Manager Bob Peatman said, “This truly was a team accomplishment in every sense. It took focus; commitment and hard work by each player to make sure you had no let downs during the season. We truly had a different hero every game.” During a 10-0 regular season a strong pitching staff of Will Greenberg, Alex Awad, Chase Peatman, Brad Peters and Ben Hamblett combined for three no-hitters, and a 0.52 ERA. With solid defense from the entire team including Jed Perler, Josh White, Miller Ward and Matt Paul the Seadogs made it very difficult for opposing teams to get on the board, limiting opponents to a stingy average of 1.0 runs-per-game.
