*Tournament organization update (Feb. 15, 2011):

This website is now officially an archive for WEST NIAGARA INVITATIONAL soccer tournaments played from 1999 to (and including) the 2010 tournament. Please feel free to browse through the pages on this site.

*After creating the West Niagara Invitational and continuing to organize it over the past 12 years (with support from the Lincoln Soccer Club), I have made a decision that it is time for me to retire as the tournament chair and/or organizor of this tournament. This will allow the Lincoln Soccer Club to import some new ideas and a new philosophy that they strongly feel will improve the West Niagara Invitational. I wish them all the best and hope that all their ideas will make this a better tournament. Please give your support to Kathryn Berube and Laura Fisher who are now fully in charge of all maters related to this tournament. Thank you for your support over the years and for your help in making this the largest tournament in Canada between 2006 and 2010. Yours in Soccer - John Miljan, Tournament Chair (Jan. 1999 to Dec. 2010)

Please read all of the info provided on this page to become more familiar with this tournament.

Provincial/Premiere: B teams, or teams from clubs that have less than 10 competative teams.*

Divisions: U9 and U10 (mini x 7-a-side), U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, U18 (full x11-a-side)

Posting of Accepted Teams: Posting of accepted teams to "MYSITE NEWS" page herein will continue until divisions are full and therefore closed.

Please click on the On-Line Registration Link provided and follow instructions, you will be asked to sign in as a Coach or Manager and complete your teams Profile and Roster information. You can go back to edit this information at any time, so your roster does not need to be finalized until April 20th 2011. We will continue accepting entries and reservation requests as per info herein until a division is full and therefore closed. We will reserve a spot for your team upon receipt of your application and automatic notification by the system that it was submitted by you. Some divisions may be full by mid March, so be sure to apply early. Once the division is filled up we will create a schedule on line that you will be able to view along with the live standings in real-time during the tournament.

1. You will have access to view your team’s status, teams that have registered to your division, sponsors for the tournament, uploaded documents, schedule once the division is full, and finally you can bookmark the live standings page to view standings in real-time from your Smartphone or PC during the tournament to reduce confusion and save you time.

2. All the teams that have reserved a spot before end of January are expected to mail in the entry fee cheque by end of February. If you have reserved a spot during the month of February, we will need your entry to arrive by March 15th. Reservations from March 1st onward will be accepted, if spots are still available, and the payment must be received within 10 days of the posted reservation. The teams that do not pay as per the noted info above will be removed from the list of Accepted Teams. There will be no phone calls about why we did not receive the entry fee payment. Email us if you have a question, but please do not call us if you are one of the teams that have not paid as per the above noted dates and info.

3. We need the electronic information and the requested items in this order: 1.You may reserve a spot by just simply completing the On-line Application, 2.You then need to MAIL us that Same Application with your entry fee by the date noted in Item 1 above, 3.You must complete/update the On-line Program Roster page before April 20th at the latest, 4.Team Roster, the approved Travel Permit for participating teams that are not from Niagara Region, as well as your properly registered books, must be delivered to team registration when you are registering your team at the tournament headquarters (Lions Park in Lincoln). The registration will take place between 6:30pm and 8:30pm on a Friday evening, the day BEFORE YOUR TOURNAMENT, or on a Saturday morning AT LEAST an hour before your first scheduled game (no exceptions).

4. If you send us a post dated cheque after you have made a reservation, and the said cheque is payable after the dates noted in Item 1 above, then the next team(s) in line shall move up on the reservation list. We do accept post dated cheques, and provided that the division is not full on the date your cheque becomes cashable, there will be no problems. If it is full, then your team will be considered same as any other late application.

5. This tournament is invitational on a first come first served basis. It's true, we do allow up to a maximum 25% of the teams from a lower level to try their luck against top teams, if they feel up to it. However, once a spot has been reserved it is never taken away from a team, as long as that team follows the instructions posted herein. Sometimes teams reserve a spot and then are not able to fulfill their obligation on time. This is where the first team on hold has the opportunity to take the available spot.

6. We will place a late registering team on hold, and we shall only allow a maximum of 2 teams on Hold after a division is full. You do not need to send us a cheque, if your team is on HOLD. We will let you know that you have become one of the accepted teams, or you can look on our website (MY SITE NEWS herein) and see if your team has become one of the 'accepted' teams. You can also look on the gosportnet site as it is a live site to see who are the accepted team.

7. Posting of "Accepted Teams" for 2011 tournament shall begin on Jan. 15th, 2011 and continue until a division is full. Go to MY SITE NEWS herein to view the list of teams that were accepted in any of the last 5 years. Please read the info on this page, and on this website, to familiarize yourself with this tournament.

8. The "MY SITE NEWS" shall be updated weekly after the end of January. If you are entering a team in our tournament, go there during the noted period to see the latest list of accepted teams for the upcoming 2011 tournament. I will continue logging the 2011 entries on the MY SITE NEWS page until a particular division is full. Full divisions will be noted as CLOSED and only two spare teams shall be added thereafter. Most divisions are anticipated to be full by the end of March.

9. Note to all accepted teams: - Please do not send us your TRAVEL PERMIT or your TEAM ROSTER. You must have those two documents when you arrive at the tournament to register your team. Travel Permit IS required for all teams outside of Niagara Region. You MUST complete/update the Program Roster part of OnLine Application before April 20th AT THE LATEST. Your Program Roster must list AT LEAST 12 players. All preliminary round games are played on a Saturday. Quarter finals, semi finals and finals shall be played on a Sunday. The crossover knockout games played between 2nd place and 3rd place teams, in a division of 12 teams (on Saturday) ARE NOT QUARTER FINALS. They are preliminary round games.

10. Please note that the U16 boys or girls divisions will be split in the Provincial and North American Divisions only if there are at least 8 teams available for EACH division. Otherwise the division will run as North American only.

ALL 2006 GIRLS AND BOYS DIVISION RESULTS ARE POSTED ON THE HANDOUTS PAGE HEREIN.

A big 'Thank You' to all 412 teams that participated in the 2006 West Niagara Invitational Soccer Tournament. Further thanks to all those that helped running the event on May 6, 7, 13 and 14.
My apologies to those teams that had to be moved to spare fields on May 13th as fields SL1 and SL2 were shut down by the town's rec and parks department that morning due to the fields not recovering in time from a downpour on Thursday. Further apologies to boys teams that played 2 games May 6th on field BHE before we were notified that the nets were stolen during the night before the tournament.
I must express my disappointment at the boys teams that contributed to the 3 Special Incident Reports. They know who they are, and they will not be welcome to this tournament as long as I am involved.
Otherwise, the Weather Gods were good to us during the tournament, and most participants and supporters enjoyed them selves while getting reacquainted with some old friends and making some new ones.

John Miljan, Chair

___________________________________________________________________________________________

The 2004 West Niagara Invitational has come to a successfull conclusion. The weather became a challenge with a huge downpour that started around 6am and contined to 8am on Sunday morning of the Girls tournament round, thus placing approximatelly 3cm of water on the fields in that short period of time. We met the challenge by playing ALL of the scheduled games.
Special thanks to participating referees, coaches and their staff, as well as all parents and participants for once again making this tournament a success.
Thanks also to Paul Gesse and Hamilton Sparta Sports Club, Ken Lamb and Niagara on the Lake Soccer Club, and Caroline Copeland and West Lincoln Soccer Club for their support during the tournament. Further thanks go out to members of Licoln Soccer Club Annette and Derek Carter, Michael Phillpot, Mandi Libera, Dave Reid and all others for their roles during the event.
Most of all, a big thank you to my wife Christine and daughters Paula and Zandra for many hours of work and for putting up with me during the demanding organizational period leading up to this event and during the event it self.
Until next year,
John Miljan
West Niagara Invitational Chair

____________________________________________

A big thank you to all participating Boys and Girls teams of 2002 West Niagara Invitational soccer tournament. With your support this tournament has grown into one of the largest youth soccer tournaments in Ontario.
Special thanks to Hamilton Sparta Sports Club, Niagara-On-The-Lake Soccer Club and West Lincoln Soccer Club for their support and use of their facilities.
Congratulations to all players, coaches and parents who showed sportsmanship and dedication during the tournament, specially those who braved all-day cold rain on Sunday May 12th during the girls tournament round. Thank you to the person who returned a lost wallet on Sunday, with credit cards and cash being untouched.
And, last but not least, congratulations to all 2002 tournament Champions, Finalists and semi-finalists.
Regards,
John Miljan
