Illegal Bats
Managers/Coaches/Parents –
The Board of Directors of West Hills LL have been hearing rumors floating around the league regarding some players using altered bats in games and practices. Please be advised that this is not only illegal but dangerous to the players, umpires and coaches. Altering a bat goes against the principles of Little League’s motto of Courage, Character and Loyalty. Let it be known that if tampered bats are found, the player using them and the adults knowingly allowing their use Will Be Dismissed From The League. Cheating will not be tolerated. Cutting corners over integrity and hard work is not the lesson we want to be teaching our children.
It is important to remember that the rules regarding an “illegal bat” define it in several ways, including an “altered” bat. See LL Rule 1.10, Rule 2.00 and the rule book appendix. We consider any bat that has been “Rolled” or “Shaved” to be “altered”, and thus illegal. In addition to an altered bat being illegal, altered bats create a serious safety risk for all of the players, coaches and umpires on the field, as a “rolled” and/or “shaved” bat increases the exit speed of the ball off the bat and in turn decreases the reaction time of the fielders. So, if you have knowledge of an “altered” bat being used, please have it removed immediately from the practice and game field. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks,
Chris Parker / WHLL Safety Officer / 619-251-8897

Little League Baseball is an organization designed to build good citizens. It is a program of leadership, preparing today's youth to be tomorrow's leaders. At the local level, Little League relies on a devoted legion of adult volunteers to help ensure that the organization remains structured and runs smoothly. West Hills Little League is always looking for responsible and enthusiastic individuals to support and coordinate Little League events and activities. As a volunteer, you should have a keen interest in the safety, well-being, and overall development of children. Anyone can apply to become a volunteer. Whatever talents or skills you have, we can use them! Across the country, volunteers are grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, retirees, community leaders, former Little Leaguers, friends, neighbors and more. Any community member who wishes to become a volunteer may apply. All parents of children involved in Little League are strongly encouraged to volunteer. As a parent volunteer, you have the opportunity to spend quality time with your child in a safe, fun-filled environment. Oftentimes, parent and child social lives parallel each other. Volunteering allows your life and your child's life to intersect on common ground, with shared interests and goals. Please contact any Board member if you are interested in volunteering. You are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
A Lifetime of Memories Begins Here!

THE AUXILIARY BOARD NEEDS YOU!
The West Hills Little League Auxiliary is now accepting members (old and new!) for its board. If you’ve always wanted to be a part of something fun and important to your child’s baseball league, and weren’t sure what to do, we’ve got the perfect place for you to spend your time and talents – the Auxiliary Board! It’s easy, it’s important, and it’s fun! For the first time ever, the Auxiliary Board is welcoming both men and women to its membership. Don’t be left off this special team. The board handles so many important roles, including:
The organization of, managing of, and running of the Snack Bar (opening, running, and closing - full training will be provided); Fund Raising, Picture Day, Merchandise Sales, Opening Day and Casino Night.
You don’t need any experience, you just need to want to be a part of the West Hills Little League Baseball Family – remember both women and men are welcome. Come and be a part of our 41st Anniversary. So don’t delay, operators are standing by, well at least the Auxiliary Board President is standing by to receive your call.
WON’T YOU HELP CREATE SOME WONDERFUL MEMORIES?

2013 WHHS Players Clinic
The 2013 Players Clinic put on by the West Hills High School Varsity Baseball team was awesome!! Head Coach CORDELL HIPOLITO and his coaching staff worked our players through a fun and rigorous 2 hour clinic. While the coaches provided instruction, the WHHS players worked directly with our little leaguers to show them how it's done.
A very special THANK YOU to the WHHS coaches and players for putting on a great clinic for our kids.
