    Monday, September 1
MAKE UP GAMES TO DETERMINE PLAYOFF SCHEDULE

With the last of the make up games being played this week, one of the longest regular season's in recent history will come to a close.  All three of these games will be a factor in determining the seeding for the upcoming playoffs, slated to begin on Friday, September 5.

On Wednesday, the teams currently tied for first place will battle for the Regular Season crown.  PST, after an 11-0 start, stumbled through the month of July and comes into the game on the heals of being swept in a DH the last time they took the field.  Healy Oil has been one of the hottest teams late in the season.  Both teams will get a bye into the second round of the playoffs.

But first, the Tuesday night games feature the battle for the third seed.  In the first game, the Mustangs are at Willis Tent.  As last year's Cinderella team, Willis Tent has had a tough year and now finds itself in the role of spoiler.  Because the Mustangs have the tie breaker against Drew Farms (3-1 advantage in head to head competition), Willis must win for Drews to have a chance to claim the third seed.  Drews would then have to defeat Short Cut in the second game of the night.

The third seed will open the playoffs against Floral Arts in the first game on Friday the fifth, with the #4-#5 matchup following at 7:45.  The schedule will be as follows:

    FRIDAY (9/5)

    6:30  Floral Arts @ #3 Seed

    7:45  Short Cut @  #4 Seed

    SUNDAY (9/7)

    5:30  #4 Seed @ Short Cut

    6:45  #3 Seed @ Floral Arts

    TUESDAY (9/9) - IF NECESSARY

    6:30  Floral Arts @ #3 Seed

7:45 Short Cut @ #4 Seed   NOTE: If the #6-#3 series is over after 2 games, then this game will move to the 6:30 time slot.

The Second round will then begin on Wednesday, September 10.  If both first round series are over after two games, then the second round will begin on Tuesday, the 9th.

This schedule will be posted to the calendar as soon as results are in after Tuesday night's games.

    Wednesday, September 3
    PLAYOFFS START ON FRIDAY

With the completion of the last three make up games over the past two nights, a very wet regular season has ended.  Tonight's game saw PST hold off a seventh inning Healy Oil rally to claim the regular season title with a record of 18-6.  PST last claimed this title in 2006 while still wearing the Orange of Z's Sports Shop.

In Tuesday night games, Willis Tent ended its season on a high note by beating the Mustangs 6-5.  This win gave Drew Farms a chance to claim the #3 seed in the playoffs.  But a 7-6 Short Cuts win gave the Mustangs the higher seed by virtue of their 3-1 record in head-to-head games.

The opening round of Playoff games will begin on Friday night, September 5.  In this best of three series, the Mustangs will play Floral Arts and Drew Farms will play Short Cuts.  The schedule is as follows:

    FRIDAY (9/5)

    6:30 Floral Arts @ Mustangs

7:45 Short Cut @ Drew Farms

    SUNDAY (9/7)

5:30 Drew Farms @ Short Cut

    6:45 Mustangs @ Floral Arts

    TUESDAY (9/9) - IF NECESSARY

    6:30 Floral Arts @ Mustangs

7:45 Short Cut @ Drew Farms    If the #6-#3 series is over after 2 games, then this game will move to the 6:30 time slot.

The second round will begin on Wednesday, September 10.  PST will play the highest remaining seed (#4, 5, or 6) at 6:30 followed by Healy Oil playing the lowest remaining seed (#3, 4, or 5).  These games will be moved to Tuesday, September 9, only if both of the first round series end in 2-0 sweeps.  This second round, as well as the Finals, will be Best of 5 series.

    Monday, September 8
Round Two of the Playoffs Starts Tuesday

With quick two games to none sweeps in the first round, both Short Cut and the Mustangs advance to round two.  After beating Drew Farms, Short Cut will face PST.  The Mustangs bested Floral Arts and will meet Healy Oil.  The second round is a best of five game series.

    TUESDAY (9/9)

    6:30 Short Cut @ PST

    7:45 Mustangs @ Healy Oil

    WEDNESDAY (9/10)

    6:30 Healy Oil@ Mustangs

    7:45 PST @ Short Cut

    FRIDAY (9/12)

    6:30 Short Cut @ PST

    7:45 Mustangs @ Healy Oil

    SUNDAY (9/14) - IF NECESSARY

5:30 Healy Oil @ Short Cut

6:45 PST @ Short Cut If the Healy Oil-Mustangs series is over after 3 games, then this game will move to the 6:30 time slot.

    TUESDAY(9/16) - IF NECESSARY

    6:30 Short Cut @ PST

7:45 Mustangs @ Healy Oil If the PST-Short Cut series is over after 3 or 4 games, then this game will move to the 6:30 time slot.

    PLAYOFF UPDATE

A rainy Friday night saw runs scored in bunches along with one of the two finals spots being claimed.

In the first game of the night, PST continued their offensive outburst, scoring 21 runs for the second game in a row to defeat Short Cuts 21-7 in six innings.  With this win, PST sweeps the series 3 games to none and earns the first spot in the finals.  As the number one seed, they will be the home team for the first game of the series.

Not to be outdone, the Mustangs erupted for 20 runs, defeating Healy Oil 20-1 in five innings.  This win puts the Mustangs up 2 games to 1 in their best of five series.

Healy Oil plays the Mustangs next on Sunday (9/14) at 5:30.  A Mustangs win will put them in the finals against PST, with the first game being played on Tuesday (9/16) at 6:30.  A Healy Oil win will force game five on Tuesday, with the winner of that game moving on to face PST on Wednesday at 6:30.

    SUNDAY (9/14)
