Re: Spring 2008 Registration is Open
Date: November 16, 2007
First a big thanks to everyone that participated in our spring and fall programs in 2007. The West Cobb program had record enrollment in both seasons. In fact, our fall enrollment exceeded our spring numbers.
As a means to providing the best possible experience for our families this year, we are opening up registration on line effective immediately. We will have a limited number of rental equipment sets available on line for each age group while supplies last.
Why register so early? As the size of the club increases there is additional behind the scenes work required to ensure everything runs smoothly. With a better handle on enrollment early on, we can make adjustments and develop proper resources to ensure a positive experience. We are expecting that some of our age group programs will reach maximum capacity this spring and we could end up with a waiting list situation. Please register promptly to ensure you will have a spot.
How Can I help? Volunteer!
With increased growth so does the demands of organizing and pulling it off. With the help of many the burden becomes small. Whether it is becoming an Assistant or Head Coach, offering to line fields a few times a season, keeping the score or policing the field for trash at practice or game end – it all adds up.
We are always seeking people that want to take on roles they are comfortable in perhaps some previous life or career expertise can help the club.
As always, thank you for your support, let’s get signed up and out on the field for spring.!

What are the seasons?
Our primary season is Spring. The spring season begins the first week of February and concludes during
the second week of May. We do not practice or play games during the public school spring break. We
practice twice during the week and play games on Saturdays. We will play 8 regular season games and
compete in a four game season ending league tournament. We do run an eight week fall program from
the beginning of September to the end of October.
What is the practice schedule?
The practice schedule is determined by the WCLC Board of Directors prior to the beginning of the season
based on field space availability and enrollment. Practice slots are typically 6pm to 7:30pm and 7:30pm to
9:00pm. Practices are held at McClure Middle School, located in Kennesaw off Stilesboro Road.
How Many Players are on each team?
We try to have a minimum of 18 players and a maximum of 25 players on each squad. Each age level
practices together regardless of number of teams. This is done to ensure consistent instruction and to reduce
the burden on the coaching staff. We are an equal playing time league. Teams are also balanced to ensure
that even skill levels are distributed among the teams in each division.
What are the fees to play?
a. Each WCLC player must purchase a US Lacrosse Membership from the club. This membership is good
for one year and will last two seasons. Membership must be renewed annually. The cost is $25.00
b. League Registration fee. This fee will vary by program but includes all league scheduled activities and a
game uniform – shorts and jersey for each player. Players will need to have a reversible practice jersey that
they have from fall 2007 or purchase from the club prior to season start.
c. Equipment Rental (If Required) We offer an equipment rental program on a first come, first serve basis
– while supplies last. The rental fee is $60.00 and includes all necessary equipment for the season with the
exception of cleats, mouthpiece and cup. A rental deposit check of $195.00 is required when picking up
equipment– it will be held until return of equipment at the end of the season.
Beginners are Welcome and encouraged. Please review the WLC Parent’s Guide to Lacrosse for more
questions about the sport of lacrosse.
How do I register? You can register via on-line registration or you can mail the applicable forms in ,
which you can download off the West Cobb website ( www.westcobblacrosse.com) We also hold an on
site registration day prior to the beginning of the season. EQUIPMENT RENTAL MUST BE ONLINE
