Sluggers Take Wood Bat Championship
The West Chester Sluggers won the D-Bat championship, hosted by the Ohio Heat, by posting a 5-0 record and out scored their opponents 50-5. It was the first time the Sluggers participated in a wooden bat tournament, and it won't be their last. Great hitting paved the way to the championship, but the stellar pitching and solid defense were the deciding factor. Outstanding pitching performances from Jordan Poore, JJ Johnson, Justin Hilliard, Hayden Senger, Corey Huber, Justin Arnold, Justin Anthony, Dallas Hall and Jack Hollstegge. The Sluggers are 43-3 on the season. They are working hard to prepare for their final two tournaments of the year - AAYBA World Series in St. Louis, MO, and the CABA World Series in Sylvania, OH. Sluggers Win USSSA Super NIT
The West Chester Sluggers captured their second USSSA Super NIT tournament championship in as many seasons by defeating Beaver Valley Red in the championship game held in Columbus, OH. The Sluggers had an undefeated record of 5-0, with additional wins against the RBI Redwins, Down River Outlaws and the Olentangy Warriors. The championship qualifies the Sluggers for the USSSA Elite 32 World Series in Orlando, FL, where they took 2nd place in last years event.
Sluggers Win USSSA Quailfier
The West Chester Sluggers went undefeated at the Cincy USSSA Qualifier tournament at Kolping Park. The Sluggers posted a 5-0 record with wins against the Hillsboro Indians, Lakota Diamond Dawgs, Cincy Flames and two victories against the talented West Virginia Titans. The Sluggers are now 15-0 and have outscored their opponents 155 to 38, winning four tournament championships along the way.
Sluggers Open 2009 With Two Championships
The West Chester Sluggers open the 2009 season by winning the Advantage Sports March Madness and the Kings Spring Classic. The Sluggers went 2-0 in the weather shortened Advantage Sports March Madness and were awarded the championship due to minimum runs allowed. The start of the Kings Spring Classic was hampered by weather, but once it was started the Sluggers went 4-0 and defeated the Cincy Flames 9-4 in the championship game. Solid hitting, pitching and defense helped the Sluggers to both early season championships. Sunday, January 25
