Sunday, April 13Wellington Swim Club fills up Southwestern pool...
The season is just a little more than a month away, and already Wellington swimmers are busy getting prepared.
The past two Saturdays, a group of 20 or so swimmers have been taking the voyage to Winfield's Southwestern College pool for swim practice. The numbers are astounding so far. Keep it up!
Wellington Swim Club head coach, Courtney Weins, and assistant coach Brian Yearout are conducting the practices.

Website welcome
Welcome to the new Wellington (Kans.) Swim Club site. The new site is available for your convenience and will provide you with up-to-date news concerning the 2008 Wellington swim team. We will continue to e-mail you on occasion, but this will be the site for updated news, stats, and general information on the swim team. We'll be putting more information on this site as the year continues. Tracy McCue will be the webmaster, while Mike Hurley is the president.
Take a gander through the website. Right now we have the calendar and practice schedules listed at this time.
Here are some updated information you might find useful as we are inching near the season.
•We have coaches. This summer Courtney Weins will again be the Wellington Swim Team coach. Brian Yearout, a competitive swimmer a couple of years ago, will be assisting this year. Caroline Reusser, the assistant last season, will be traveling abroad this summer in Europe and unfortunately won't be coaching. This marks the first time in forever, we have had the same head coach coming back.
•The Parental orientation meet will be held on Sunday, April 27 at the rec center from 4 to 6 p.m. This is of major importance.
•Fees have been established. Wellington will charge club fees $80 for membership. Missouri Valley fees are $27. Contact Michael Hurley for other information. His number is 620-440-0953.
•Wellington will once again be going back with Associated Swim Shop in Wichita for this year's team suits.
•Don't forget to help us recruit. We need swimmers! A lot more of them this season. More swimmers means we are more competitive, we have more volunteers to choose from and we are able to keep finances down. If you know of anyone who would like to swim invite them to the orientation meeting. Mitch Day and T.D. Buck are also compiling a list so don't hesitate to tell them of a potential swimmer.

Wellington begins season tonight!
This will be the first meet of the season as we battle Haysville at 6 p.m. Log onto this web site tomorrow. We'll be posting results sometime and have a running total. We will also continue to update you with news and other information. Also, check out the Wellington Daily News, as sports editor Tracy McCue, will be writing articles and posting pictures. We have also placed the handbook on the web under the section. "Student handbook." Check out the "Message Board" and pose any questions or comments. Keep it clean and conduct good manners.
Good luck tonight. - Tracy McCue, Webmaster.

June 4 article
Whew. That was close.
The Wellington Sailfish completed its first meet of the season at the Wellington Aquatic Center against the Haysville Piranhas, losing 288-162.
Of course, it wasn't a total event, as Mother Nature decided to crash the party precisely Event 53. Chances are the Wellington Sailfish would have closed the gap significantly as there was still quite a bit of swimming left and Wellington swimmers were going to do most of it. Maybe, next week.
There were several swimmers who have already qualified for Division II times. Jonathan Etter, in his Wellington Swim Club debut, got a DII time in the 11-12 meter freestyle with a 37.50 time. Way to go, Jonathan!
Jason Haydon also got a DII time with a 39.65 time in the 11-12 free. Way to go Jason.
Wellington veteran swimmers Jordan Tibbs got a 32.90 time and Miranda Serrioz got a 36.85 time in the 50 free and also qualified for DII. Good job girls!
Robert Susong and Jarret Krueger also got DII times in the 50 meter free with 29.93 and 30.75 times respectively. Great work boys.
Anyway, Wellington team goals were reached and it was donut city for all those coming to practice this morning.
Next week, we are hosting El Dorado.
For all of the times click on "Schedules" and the Wellington vs. Haysville game results.
CORRECTION! Yesterday on the web site I said the Swim Handbook was uploaded. I guess I was mistaken. I pulled out the rest of the hair I have left and still couldn't get it to work. So the handbook is under "handouts." It's a word document, so you'll have to download it and go from there.
Oh, and I'm taking pictures on June 11. The actionmates will be cooler than ever. I'll give you more information on it later this week. I'll download more images later this week. I'm planning a slideshow at the end of the year, so I'm going to get more different kinds of pictures.
The picture you see of Matt Hurley is in the Wellington Daily News. Pick up a paper today. For some reason, the swim team is going to get a lot more coverage in the newspaper this year.
Until next time.... Eat my bubbles! - Tracy McCue, Wellington Swim Club Webmaster.
