q Pick up Trash – remove all trash from: ü Stands ü Dugouts ü Along fences q Sweep – use push broom to sweep dirt from grass back onto: ü Pitcher’s mound ü Home plate area ü Base lines q Fix holes – fill and tamp holes and depressions around: ü Pitcher’s mound ü Home plate area q Rake -- ü Pitcher’s mound – move dirt from the bottom of the mound to the top. Dirt should be level with the top of the pitching rubber. ü Home plate area ü Base lines – always rake parallel to the grass line ü Base areas – rake a small area around each base to level the dirt and create clearance for the lawn tractor when dragging the field q Drag the Field – using the lawn tractor and attached drag. ü Avoid the bases or use base plugs when dragging ü Avoid dragging dirt from the infield onto the grass ü Avoid the base lines and home plate area ü Close the tractor gate when leaving the field q Water the Dirt – you must keep moisture in the dirt! Water each area until the water begins to stand. Ideally, we want to water the entire infield, but as a minimum, water the: ü Pitcher’s mound ü Home plate area ü Base lines ü Around bases
