Congratulations to the following players who will play on our 2011 Non Sanction All Stars Team. We know they will represent the South well. Good luck!!
Wednesday, June 15
WCSLL All-Star teams are determined based upon voting by each player and manager in the league. Each player completes a ballot which results in 2 players placed on the team, players cannot vote for players from their own team. The remainder of the team is based on nominations from each manager. Each manager votes for 8 nominated players, managers cannot vote for players on their team. WCSLL is a very large and competitive league, as a result each year several very good players do not make the All-Star teams mainly based on numbers.
We wish all of our All-Star teams success in the District Tournament on July 1st.

It has truly been a wild start to our 2011 Little League season which is now three weeks old. Mother nature has brought more than our share of rain to the area, yet the Major League teams have not missed a game, and our Minors have only missed a couple!
Two things have worked to help us keep as current as we are with the schedule: 1.) equipment/soil conditioning purchases and facilities upgrades voted on and agreed to by the Board, and 2.) a lot of very hard work by the folks at Parks and Rec.
When you have a chance, please THANK the Parks and Rec crew for their hard work so far this year - we could not be where we are without them.

The WCSLL Board of Directors would like to welcome our newest board members: Robert Creek, Ken Lunsford, Mark Evans, Shawn Haller, Craig Martin, and Mark Moore. These men have already given a lot of time and energy to WCSLL in their previous roles, and we look forward to having them join us in the leadership of our league.
We would also like to express our sincere thanks to Sean Heltsley, Doug Turner, James Napper, Wayne Bratcher, Doug Guelde, and Mark Perdue. Each of these men has given countless hours to WCSLL over the past several years, and each has played a major role in developing our league into what it is today. We greatly appreciate the dedication that these men have shown to WCSLL and Little League Baseball. Our current board of directors has some very large shoes to fill, and we are excited to continue the work that was started by this group of people.

Congratulations to the Warren County South 9-10 year old All-Stars for their terrific post-season run! The boys went undefeated through Area B and District 1 tournaments and remained undefeated until the state championship game in Harlan. They dropped the last game 8-5 to North Oldham in a game that saw several lead changes before they finally ran out of innings. In baseball there are times when you lose a game you probably could win and the consensus is that this is what happened here. When you win 11 in a row, sooner or later the law of averages can sneak up on you. On another day, probably even the next day, South beats North Oldham easily, but this was their day, congrats to them on their state championship. The league is VERY proud of our runners-up. They exhibited everything that South baseball is about in this GREAT post-season run. They played with positive attitudes, exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and performed well on the field of competition. Thanks to the families and coaches for having their children prepared for this great experience. The future is bright for South baseball! This leaves just enough hunger and desire for this group to go back for that state championship that they almost had. Look out everybody, the South will rise again! GREAT JOB guys! GO SOUTH!

For those that attended the WCSLL jamboree on April 9th, you are aware that the Board of Directors honored Dylan Beckham, an eleven year old participant of WCSLL, for his outstanding efforts to raise $30,000 for autism. Dylan was inspired to take on this challenged when he observed a friend with autism being bullied by another student. Robert Creek, a minor league coach in WCSLL, and his wife Amy were touched by Dylan's efforts, as they are parents of a child with autism. The Creeks want to help Dylan with his efforts. Please read the letter that they have drafted below.
April 18, 2010
Dear Family and Friends,
April is Autism Awareness month. At the Warren County South Little League open ceremony players, parents and coaches were asked to help one of the players raise money for Autism Awareness. As many of you may already know, we are the parents of a child with Autism and were touched by what this young man is doing. In support of him and in raising awareness for those with Autism we decided we wanted to help.
Robert decided to use one of his many interests to support this great cause. We are teaming up with a local golf tournament director to bring Autism Awareness to the community and raise money at the same time. The tournament will be held Sunday, May 23rd at Riverview/Hobson Grove Golf Course. Although the tournament entry fee goes to the winning teams, we still have the opportunity to raise money for Autism Awareness by obtaining hole sponsors and by serving lunch to the golfers.
We need your help. We ask that you consider sponsoring a hole or donating items for lunch. Hole sponsors will be posted at each tee box along the course. There are three hole sponsorship categories: $50, $75, or $100. All other donations will be accepted and recognized as well. If you are interested in learning more about Autism Awareness or in supporting our cause, please complete the included form and return using the self-addressed envelope. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Robert and Amy Creek
If you would like to sponsor a hole in the golf tournament or just simply make a donation, please download the attached form. Please mail the form along with your donation to the attention of Robert Creek, 1924 Elmhurst Way, Bowling Green, KY 42104.
Thanks to all of you in advance for your support!

As we enter a new season in 2010 take time to watch this AMAZING video! Let's try to remember that there are a lot of ways to win in life - many of them have nothing to do with the score.

We are creating an email distribution list for WCSLL as another way to communicate information and announcements to our participants and families. The first group email was sent this morning. If you did not receive that email and would like to be added to the distribution list, please send an email to boardmembers@wcsouthlittleleague.com. Please give us your name, the player's name, and the email address, and we will be happy to add you to the list.

We are so excited to embark on another season of baseball in the South. Thanks to all our participants who endured a busy week of try-outs, and to board members and team managers who spent most of their week supporting our baseball program through various activities. After the draft Wednesday night, our teams are set and we will begin practice as soon as we can get on the fields. God has smiled on us with recent weather and we think WCPRD is farther along with that than anyone thought they would be. All players should be contacted and parent meetings should be going on throughout this weekend. Equipment pickup, for those managers who need it is this Sunday night. We look forward to seeing our players out on the fields and our managers out there teaching the game of baseball. It's just hard to imagine a better way to spend summer evenings than being out at the park with good friends watching the ones we love playing the great game of baseball. Makes us want a hot dog and a cold drink! See everyone soon!
