Central bowlers kick-off season with the HS Jamboree
Saturday was the "kick-off" to our season in the 7th Annual HS Jamboree, hosted by Mt Juliet High at Hermitage Lanes. It is always a fun way to start the year, and this year WC put two teams of Boys & two teams of Girls in the event! With an unusually small turnout, there were 9 teams of Boys and 7 teams of Girls total.
The Boys led off at 11am, and our guys bowled OK. Our first team was led by Sr. JR Clemons, who bowled a nice 254-697, with the 697 good for 2nd place in individuals. The first team was balanced with games of 983-1022-1024, totaling 3029. Steady, but not enough to win as the guys finished 3rd. Hardin Co. took first again this year with a 3127 series. Other good scores from our boys were Chris Branner with a 620 series; Scotty Probasco with a 226 game for the second team; & Spencer Harp with a 220 game. Hendersonville's Ryan Youngblood took individual honors with a super 278-736. Congrats!
The LadyCats' teams started off pretty strong in game 1, with the first team rolling an 889, and the 2nd team a 793 game. The first team then put together a nice 933 in game 2, but with the lanes REALLY dry by game 3, faltered to a 760 for a 2582 total, good for 3rd place - 31 pins behind Hendersonville's girls who finished 1st. The 933 game did hang on for our FIRST EVER team award in the Jamboree, GIRLS TEAM HIGH GAME!! Also, a huge part of the reason they earned that was Jr. Kirstin Page, who led individually with a great 233 game & 604 series!! Great bowling, Kirstin!! And CONGRATS to the the ladies on the first team for their team award - Dani Chaffin, Brittany Sisco, Katlin Page, & Brennan Page joined Kirstin on this team.

New season? Same LadyCats - Record-Breaking winners! Wildcats start strong, too
Last year was known as the "Record-breaking" season for the LadyCats, as team records fell with regularity all season long. With all six starters returning, could we expect the same results? Our answer came today - YES! Sr. Brennan Page rolled games of 277-256-234 for a SCHOOL RECORD 767 series!!! This breaks a six-year old record, held previously by Alisa Aldridge with a 760. Rolling a total of 26 strikes in her set, with 12 in-a-row at one point, Brennan was like a machine!! The LadyCats followed Brennan's lead, and soared to their first 1200+ game in game 2 with an awesome 1228!!! Rolling 8 200+ games today, the LadyCats team total of 3344 was more than enough for a 25-2 victory over a very young Friendship Christian team. Other great scores today: Kirstin Page with a 213-591; Dani Chaffin with a 203 & 212; & Brittany Sisco, a nice 201 game. "The Streak" is still intact, now at 65 regular season wins! WAY TO GO, LADYCATS!!
The Wildcats also started very well, with our 6 starters all bowling games 1 & 2, and all 6 set averages of 190+, as they easily defeated Friendship Christian 23-4. High game was Jr. Chris Branner with a 235. Other good scores were: Seth Carey with a 206 & 231; JR Clemons with 228 & 205; Geremy Roseti, a nice 234 game; & Sr. Scotty Probasco with a 211! While the boys did not break records today, it was very nice to see the consistent, good scores they rolled. GO 'CATS!!

Wildcat boys come from behind for win; LadyCats roll on over Lebanon
Match #2 for the season quickly became an import match in the District, as a much-improved Lebanon Boys' team was looking for a sweep of Wilson Co rivals after knocking off Mt. Juliet on Tuesday. They won that match easily 25.5-1.5. Coach Mark knew we had a battle, and neither team disappointed! Led by a super 696 series by JR Clemons, the Wildcat boys came back from a 2-6 deficit in game 1 to win by a final 18-9 margin! JR also had high game for the day with a great 256 in game 2, which led us to an 1186 team game & a 6-2 game win. Now even at 8-8 after 2 games, our boys pulled away at the end of game 3 for the decisive game. Total pinfall was 3500-3357. Other good boys scores were: Chris Branner with a super 241 start; Ryan Peplinski with a 197-221 off the bench (nice!); and Spencer Harp with a 215 game. Way to go, 'cats!!
The LadyCats easily rolled in the match at ProBowl West, winning 22-5 over the Lady BlueDevils. Laurel Everett led our ladies today with a consistent 189-537. no 200+ games today, but another win anyway!! "The Streak" now stands at 66 straight regular season wins. Keep it up, LadyCats!!

Fall Bash results
Wilson Central competed in its first FALL BASH in Savannah, TN this past Saturday. Bowling against three of the best programs in the state vs. Hendersonville, White Station (Memphis), and host Hardin County HS was truly a great learning experience. Our first time bowling at Savannah Bowling Center saw us adjust well and hit the pocket a lot, but found a tough time getting strikes, and we certainly struggled on spares from time to time. The LadyCats took a 66-match regular-season winning streak into the weekend, and bowled well. But "The Streak" did come to an end at 67 straight matches, as they beat Hendersonville first, but then lost to White Station next. In a surprise for our ladies though, they fought hard in match #3 and took down Hardin County 14-13! The Wildcats did well also, going 2-1 with wins over Hendersonville & White Station. But the host team proved too tough on their own lanes, as the guys fell 7.5 - 19.5.
All in all, a GREAT showing by our bowlers! Read on for details on each match...

Fall Bash match #1 - WC sweeps Hendersonville!
The first match of our big day in Savannah, TN started us out vs. perennial powerhouse Hendersonville HS. And what a GREAT start to the day, as both teams win easily - Boys by a 21.5 - 5.5 margin; and the LadyCats with a final 20-7 score! First the Wildcats...Led by Sr. Scotty Probasco with a great 233 first game, the guys won 7 of 8 with a 1089-968 total. With only one more 200+ game the rest of the match, our guys weren't bowling big scores, but certainly enough to win. Scotty finished with our high series as well with a nice 582. Ryan Peplinski rolled a 202 in game 3 for the 'Cats.
The LadyCats were looking to make a statement in Savannah, as all 3 of these schools are projected, like us, to make a return trip to State. Starting out with a win vs. H'ville would help our confidence a bunch. Led by So. Brittany Sisco's 228 game and 585 series, the girls did just that! Rolling team games of 1054 & 1000 the first two games, the WC ladies built a 12 - 4 (points) & 213-pin lead after two games! Then even with our subs coming in, we squeaked by in game 3 by 4 pins to complete the win. Jr. Kirstin Page also bowled well with a 201/565 total. Great bowling, Wildcats & LadyCats!!

Bash match #2 - LadyCats "Streak" ends, Wildcats win vs. White Station
The one team that Coach Mark knew would be a huge challenge for the LadyCats was the Lady Spartans of White Station HS. They, like us, returned all six starters from last years' team, and all of those starters are SENIORS! And very talented seniors, as well. Coming out of the gate against us with a super 1208 game, our ladies were down 2-6 and by 123 pins after game 1. We fought hard and won game 2 1068-1039, but were simply overmatched on the drying-out, 2nd shift lane conditions, as White Station finished us off in game 3 1057-983, winning the match 18 - 9. Our ladies still rolled a very good 3136, which would end up our highest series of the day, and on pretty tough conditions! Brittany Sisco led the way AGAIN for the LadyCats, with a great 212 in game 1, and a nice 566 series. Brennan Page had a 202 in game 2 as well.
The Wildcat Boys were pumped and ready to go vs. White Station. Game 1 was a tight contest, as our boys bowled just well enough to win 1060-1050. But with a total of (9) 200+ games, our 'Cats were just too strong and cruised to a 20 - 7 victory! JR Clemons led the 'Cats with a consistent 642 series on games of 208, 224, & 210. High game was a great 236 by Geremy Roseti, and he also rolled a 622 series. So. Michael Whitlow rolled a super 230 in game 1. Way to go, Wildcats!

Bash #3 - LadyCats storm back to defeat Hardin County; Wildcats fall 7.5-19.5
The LadyCats have been to the State Tournament four times. Twice the Runner-Up. And 3 of the 4 trips have ended in defeat to the Lady Tigers of Hardin County. Revenge wasn't a word even mentioned, but a victory over Hardin Co would certainly make everyone "feel good." And even with a slow start, that is exactly what we got! Down 6-10 in points, but up by 31 pins after two games, the ladies had an "epic" battle in game 3, with the lead going back and forth all game long. And in the end, two of our younger players would be the difference, as we won game 3 1082-1067 and took the match 14-13!! Sophomores Brittany Sisco & Elizabeth Callas led our ladies to this win, with Brittany having high game for the third-straight match with a nice 212 in game 3; and Elizabeth won all 3 of her points on games of 185-202-175 for a great 562 series!! Kirstin Page also tied Brit for high game with a 212, and Brennan Page tied Elizabeth for series as well. Making the win even sweeter was the fact that Hardin Co rolled all six of their starters the entire match, while we played all nine bowlers who attended the Bash! And, winning in THEIR house was nice as well. Way to bounce back from the loss, ladies. Is this the beginning of a new "Streak?"
The Wildcats didn't fare as well against Hardin Co in their house. While they bowled their high team series of the day with a 3389, it was no match for the Tigers as they rolled a 3559 and cruised to a 19.5 - 7.5 victory. JR Clemons certainly did his part, as he finished with a season-high 279 game & a 668 series. Geremy Roseti also did well again with a 224-609 total. Both teams finish the weekend 2-1 at the Bash....a very nice outing indeed!

WC LadyCats soar to another school record - Spencer Harp says "I am back" for the Wildcats
Spencer Harp has spent most of the pre-season and early regular season trying to "get his game back" to where it was at the end of last year. And he has been working really hard at it. Hard work does, eventually, pay off - and after a good practice on Tuesday, Spencer exploded today vs. David Lipscomb HS with an awesome 278 game & 751 series!! Leading our 'Cats to a 24-3 win, Spencer's personal bests in match-play contributed to the boys' team high series so far this year of 3655 - and that is with 5 subs in for game 3!! The Wildcats rolled team games of 1346 & 1275 in games 1 & 2, as there were 9 of 12 200+ games bowled! While Spencer was the best of the day, most of the other bowlers rolled well too...check out these scores: Chris Branner 234-213; JR Clemons 236-207; Scotty Probasco 218-202; Seth Carey 228; & Michael Whitlow with a 200 game. Great bowling, Wildcats!
On to the LadyCats, who simply keep setting records everytime they get a chance! After a nice 1132 in game 1, Coach Mark was pleased and asked everyone to "go up from there." And my oh my, did they!! Led by Laurel Everett's 234, 5 of the 6 girls were over 200 and they finished with a super 1247 game!! Even the subs got in on the action in game 3, as they rolled a nice 960. Total pins were 3339, as the LadyCats rolled over David Lipscomb 27-0. Congrats also to these bowlers: Kirstin Page with a 224-587; Dani Chaffin with a 220-203; Laurel Everett 189-234; Kaitlin Page a 222; and Brittany Sisco a 205. Great bowling by all - keep on rolling LadyCats!

WC teams roll over Antioch
The WC teams rolled back into action today at Hermitage Lanes, and both teams rolled out winners! The Wildcats pressed the "strike" button A LOT today, and finished with a 25-2 victory & their high series of the year (so far) with a very nice 3744, led by Jr. Chris Branner's first-ever high school 700 series! Chris bowled 2 258 games and ended with a 711 total. Spencer Harp kept up his hot hand with a great 220-254-221 for a 695 series. Several other good scores today: JR Clemons with a 249 game; Geremy Roseti a 206; Ryan Peplinski a 204; Fr. Bobby Davidson a 203; and Sr. Josh Leedham with a 200. The 'Cats are now 6-1 on the season.
The LadyCats picked a good day to have an "off" day! Kudos to Brittany Sisco for her SUPER 246 in game 1! But other than that, today was kind of a struggle for the LadyCats. Missing way too many spares, and having a hard time getting the strikes were the common themes for our girls today. Still, the ladies had no trouble in winning 27-0 over Antioch HS. Miss Sisco had high series for us also today with a 537. LadyCats also move to 6-1 on the year. Next up for both teams - our friends & rivals from MOUNT JULIET!! Go get 'em, 'Cats!!
Thursday, October 29
LadyCats strike up a new record once more...boys shine too vs. Mount Juliet
Both teams came to Hermitage Lanes today fired up and ready to play our District 10 rivals Mt Juliet, and it certainly showed up on the scoreboard! The LadyCats got back to their "great bowling" ways and in the process shattered their School Record for Team Series with a whopping 3517!! The girls rolled 9 of 18 games over 200, and easily defeated the young Mt Juliet girls 25-2. Sr. Brennan Page led the way again, getting back on track with a super 683 series, on games of 231-208-244! Kirstin Page was a close 2nd, rolling a nice 675 series with games of 211-227-237. Other great scores were: Dani Chaffin with 217-589; Brittany Sisco with a 211 game; & Laurel Everett a 202. LadyCats now 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the District. C'mon!!
The Wildcats showed great poise in holding off an up-and-coming, young & talented Mt Juliet Boys team today, as they win 21.5 - 5.5. About 3/4 of the way through game 1, it looked like MJ might just pull off an upset in that game as 5 of their 6 bowlers were rolling great! But our guys got hot at the end, and won game 1 6.5-1.5, winning 1315 - 1218. Games two & three were were a little tighter, but we still prevailed for the win! JR Clemons leads the way again with a very nice 715 series, on games of 232, 237, & 246! Also, Jr. Seth Carey had a HOT hand to finish with a nice 705 series, and High Game with a 249. Other good scores were: Geremy Roseti with a 236 & 622; Chris Branner with a 228; Spencer Harp a 219 & 211; & Scotty Probasco with a nice 211 game. Wildcats go to 7-1 overall, & 4-0 in the District.

LadyCats soar into the stratosphere - nearly shoot 3700; JR Clemons bowls a near-perfect 299
Last year's LadyCats team made it a habit of setting new school records nearly every week. We coaches thought that was amazing. Now what is REALLY amazing is that one year later, they are STILL setting records regularly! Today was absolutely INCREDIBLE, as the LadyCats set new records for game with a 1275, and series with a stratospheric 3697 total!! Games 2 & 3 were also over 1200, with 1211 for both games! I am running out of adjectives to describe this team...but here is one I can think of - determined! These girls simply push themselves and each other to new heights everyday! A summary of their day:
Dani Chaffin - 236-231-202 = 669 series; Brennan Page - 179-211-268 = 658 series Kirstin Page - 212-258-178 = 648 series; Laurel Everett - 202-207-223 = 632 total Brittany Sisco - 278 game, 579 series; Terralee White - 511 series. Brittany's game & Laurel's series were personal bests! And congrats to Terralee, who bowled her first 500 series in competition, while getting the start today on Senior Day!! Good job, Brennan & Terralee - our senior girls this year. What else can be said ladies? Just CONGRATULATIONS and KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
JR Clemons almost rolled his 2nd perfect game at WC, rolling the first 11 strikes and then slamming the pocket but leaving the "solid 10-pin" for a great 299!! JR's great game was part of a 729 series, as he led the Wildcats to a 26-1 victory over Cane Ridge HS. Other good scores today: Geremy Roseti with a 241-632; Ryan Peplinski bowled a very nice 247 game & 631 series; and Seth Carey had a 226 game. The boys finished with a nice 3588 total on their Senior Day - congrats to our 5 senior boys: JR Clemons, Geremy Roseti, Scotty Probasco, Ryan Peplinski, & Josh Leedham.

Both teams earn a win against Franklin HS
It is always hard to go to an "away" center after such a BIG day like Tuesday was! But for these WC teams, winning is still easy. Both teams roll over Franklin HS in a non-district contest at Cumberland Lanes today, with the Wildcats winning 19-8, and the LadyCats mowing down the Lady Rebels 26-1. Not a lot of big scores today (as expected), but the few who did, did well. On the guys side, Jr. Seth Carey led the team with a GREAT 257 in game 1, and finished with a 653 series. Way to go, Seth! Also, Geremy Roseti had a 211, Chris Branner a 204, & JR Clemons with a 203 game.
On the Girls side, the LadyCats still did well, rolling a 3015 series away and winning 26-1. Dani Chaffin led the way again, this time with a nice 233 game & 607 series. LadyCats & Wildcats both now 9-1 on the season. Can we keep it that way??

WC teams take control of district with wins over Lebanon HS; Boys nearly break record
Tuesday 11/10/09 was finally the BOYS day to "rock" the lanes and nearly break some records, as they rolled over the Lebanon boys team 22.5 - 4.5! Shooting a super 3868 series, the Wildcats were only 31 pins away from their school record for team series. Leading a very balanced attack for the guys was Sr. Ryan Peplinski, who has been quietly bowling very well off the bench. In his first start of the year, Ryan soared to his personal best - a 689 series, with a 254 high game! Way to go, Ryan!! All of the boys were over 600 today - Geremy Roseti with a 279 game (high game today!) & 652 series; Spencer Harp a 245-646; Seth Carey a 223-636; Chris Branner with 258-627; and JR Clemons bowling a 227-616. Great job, Wildcats! Boys are now 10-1 on the year.
The LadyCats again bowled outstanding, rolling a very nice 3398 series today in a 26-1 victory over Lebanon. Sr. Brennan Page again led the way today, rolling games of 237-184-258 for a very good 679 series! Sister Kaitlin Page came back today after missing the past two matches with an illness, and hit her season highs today with a great 236 game & 584 series...welcome back, Kaitlin! Other good scores: Laurel Everett with a 226 game; Dani Chaffin & Kirstin Page with 205 games; and Sr. Terralee White with a nice 195 in game 3. LadyCats also 10-1 on the year...GO LADIES!!

Central teams roll over Friendship Christian
In our away match at Pro Bowl West vs. Friendship Christian, the WC bowlers made great strides in improving their scores at other centers! With most every bowler getting better at reading the lanes, our teams rolled to easy wins today - the boys winning 26-1, and the girls 25-2. Our boys bowled 9 of 18 games today over 200 and finished with a nice 3607 series. Leaders today were JR Clemons with a 268 game, and Chris Branner with a great 693 series. WC teams sweep Cane Ridge 27-0 each at Cumberland Lanes
In our first of three-straight away matches at Cumberland Lanes, our teams fared very well against the young Cane Ridge Ravens. With both teams easily sweeping 27-0, it was a day for several bowlers to get play time, and to practice our games at another center. The LadyCats pinfall was 2977, and they were led by their leader - Sr. Brennan Page - on games of 203, 197, 215 for a 615 total! High game of the day goes to Jr. Kirstin Page with a very nice 236. Ladies are now 12-1 on the season.

Boys also now 12-1 on the year...go Wildcats!

Brennan Page hits 700 at Cumberland - both teams cruise to victory

On games of 246, 215, and 244, Ms. Page hit a beautiful 705 series today! And, the ladies all came to play today, with their first two team games at 1153 & 1210, there seems to be no stopping these LadyCats now! Ladies win 26-1, move their record to 13-1 on the season.
After wrapping up every point but one in the first two games, all of our starters gave way today to six more bowlers waiting their turn. And the "subs" all came to play. Sr. Scotty Probasco stepped in game 3, and his 247 game led all bowlers today! Other good scores today: Eric Lane with another good game at 232; Spencer Harp with a 223; Michael Whitlow with a very good game of 214; Geremy Roseti with a 225-192; Spencer Harp with a 223. Wildcats also at 13-1 for the year. Go Wildcats!!

Both teams give thanks for success in wins over Glencliff at Cumberland
Thanksgiving week brings thoughts of family, food, & friends. It is also a week for people to be thankful for all of the good in their lives. Our bowlers are now thankful for one other thing - they are glad to be done with Cumberland Lanes!! Both teams bowled well today, winning over Glencliff with ease. The Wildcat boys jumped out with an 1168 in game 1, and cruised in games 2 & 3 for their 22.5-4.5 victory. Sr. Geremy Roseti led the way again today with a great 259-649 total. Wildcats storm back on upstart Mt Juliet boys, win 16-11...both teams clinch #1 seed
Our "Code Blue" match vs. Mt Juliet was very nearly a code red for the guys, as a spirited and ready-to-play Bears team took games 1 & 2 from us. After game 2, our boys were down 6-10 in points, and by 87 pins in pinfall. MJ took game 1 rather easily 1211-1152 as we had two bowlers really struggle. Game 2 was very back and forth, but in the end the Bears won 1161-1133. So, for only the 2nd time all season, our guys were needing a comeback for victory. Only unlike our Fall Bash match with Hardin Co, this time our boys were up for the challenge. Bowling more like the team they have been all year, our guys took 7 of 8 points in game 3, winning 1266-1093, and also taking total for a 16-11 comeback win! Seth Carey led the charge today with a 246-645 total. Other good scores: Spencer Harp with a 237 game; Chris Branner 223-628; JR Clemons with 227-612; and Eric Lane off the bench with 209 & 215 in games 2 & 3. Great job, Wildcats!
The LadyCats were not flashy nor overpowering, but didn't need to be as they cruised to a 23-4 victory over the Lady Bears. Dani Chaffin led our girls to the win with a 235-641 total. Congrats to Jenn Fitzgibbons for MJ, who rolled an awesome 715 series! Our ladies & gents both clinched the #1 seed for next week's District 10 tournament with their wins today...WAY TO GO CENTRAL!!
Thursday, December 3
JR Clemons climbs the mountain again - 299 & 842 series...Boys team breaks school record, too!
JR Clemons has a knack for knocking down lots of pins when the coach asks the guys to break a school record!! In an INCREDIBLE display of bowling, JR rolled games of 276, 267, & 299 for a school-record 842 SERIES!! WOW!! JR's career day led our guys to a team record, too...a new high team series of 3936!! JR hit 30 out of 36 possible strikes in rolling his new personal best, and second 299 game & 800 series of his career!! The boys won easily over Glencliff 26-1, finishing the regular season perfect in District play and with a 16-1 overall record. Other good scores today were: Chris Branner with 242-231 & a 669 series; So. Eric Lane with 236-656; Seth Carey a 223-623; & Geremy Roseti with a 230 game in game 1. AWESOME JOB, Wildcats!!
Thursday, December 3
LadyCats ice the regular season with a 27-0 win, roll 3522 series
The LadyCats also tried to better their own school records for game & series today.
