The 5th annual Middle Tennessee Jamboree held at Hermitage Lanes yesterday turned out to be a good, fun kick-off to our season!  The Boys Team #1 finished in 5th place with a 2788 series, and Boys Team #2 finished 10th with a 2613 - out of the 16 teams bowling.  Geremy Roseti rolled his first 700 series with a great 704, and in the process finished 2nd out of 80 bowlers!  WAY TO GO, GEREMY!  Other good scores for the boys were:  Drew Morrow with his personal high game & series with a great 242-620; JR Clemons with a nice 212-575, and Trent Sheppard finishing off his set with a 201 game.  Good showing, Wildcats!

The Lady Wildcats were having fun as well, and finished 5th out of 7 teams bowling.  A big CONGRATS to Fr. Danielle Chaffin for leading the way with her new high game of 217 and  a 522 set.  Also bowling well for our LadyCats was Brennan Page with a nice 195-507.  Not a bad start for a team that lost 6 seniors last year!!

Now it is on to our first match on Tuesday, October 9th!  GO WILDCATS!!

WILDCATS KICK-OFF SEASON WITH A "W"
Congratulations to the Wildcat Boys for a nice start to the new season, winning easily today 26 - 1 over the new team in our District - Friendship Christian School.  Leading the way on day one was So. JR Clemons, with a new ball and two 200 games - a 219 & 214, and a nice 592 series!  Also, Geremy Roseti was consistent on the tougher Lebanon Lanes conditions with a good 557 series.  As usual, the overall scores were lower at Lebanon Lanes, but most of the team was consistent & patient, as our spare-shooting led us to a 3084 series and a 1,056-pin victory.  Good start, Wildcats!!

LadyCats win over Mt Juliet - Wildcats suffer first loss

Fortunately for the LadyCats, and unfortunately for the Boys team - today's match vs. Mt Juliet went "as usual" as the Girls won and the Boys fell - both by a 17-10 margin.  Our ladies jumped out to a 6-2 lead in game 1, only to see the match tied after 2 games 8-8!  But they prevailed in the end, extending their District winning streak to 37!  Leading the way for the LadyCats were Sr. Brittany Farmer with a nice 223 - 549, and So. Brennan Page also with a 223 game, and a good 533 series.  Sr. Brittany Turner added a nice 207 game & 506 series.

The Wildcats showed some good things today.  After being blown out in game 1 by 209 pins and down 2-6, the guys showed some resilience in game 2 by winning that game 6-2 with their high game of the season(1181), and gaining back 109 pins!  But in game 3 the Bears showed why they are still #1 in the district by rolling a 1238 to our 1085.  Several players bowled good today...JR Clemons led the pack with a great 243 game & 657 series; Geremy Roseti added a nice 236 game, Sr. Sam Davidson came in off the bench with a 208, and Sr. Trent Sheppard started the day with a 204 game.  Good bowling today - now we will focus on a home win vs. DCA on Thursday.  GO CATS!

Today's match vs. DCA was a great step forward for both teams with the LadyCats winning easily 22-5, and the Wildcats storming back from a huge deficit to win 16-11!  The Boys were down 2-6 and -165 pins after game 1, and it didn't look good.  But they are quickly learning that a little momentum goes a long way, and bowled their high game of the year so far in game 2 with a nice 1207!  That evened the match at 8-8, and from there they took control in game 3 to win it!!  Several Wildcats rolled well today, led by Geremy Roseti with a great 247 game & a 611 series; JR Clemons with a 214-583; Jr. Krishna Patel with a nice 221 game; and Sr. Trent Sheppard with a 201.  Guys are 3-1 on the season now - keep up the good work!

Wildcats win over #1 Antioch 18-9...LadyCats roll on

As expected, the scores bowled today at Melrose Lanes were not as high as our home scores are, but the WC teams did what they had to do...win points and win the matches!  The Wildcats started off with a great game #1, winning by 169 pins and sweeping all 8 points over a sluggish Antioch squad.  After that it was simply cruise control to their 18-9 victory over the current #1 team in District 10!  Leading the way again was JR Clemons with a nice 214-579 series, and high game went to Krishna Patel with a 215.  Other good scores went to Trent Sheppard with a 202, and Sr. Drew Morrow with a 200.  Outstanding effort leads to outstanding results - way to roll, Wildcats!!

Farmer wins "Battle of the Best," leads WC girls to victory over DCA; Boys lose their match

Rolling her high game of the year with a great 246, and an outstanding 658 series, Brittany Farmer led the WC LadyCats to another easy victory over DCA 23-4!  In the anticipated matchup between the top 2 average girls in District 10, Farmer took total control of the average race in her match with Meg Shaneyfelt, winning all 3 games with relative ease.  Brittany now leads the District with a great 198 average.  LadyCats win is #42 in-a-row in district play, and they are now 7 - 0 on the season.  Keep the machine rolling, LadyCats!!

The Wildcats did not have their best day as a team, dropping their match 8-19 at Donelson Bowl.  The team seemed to have a hard time all day getting lined up to strike, and the number of missed spares was way too many.  DCA took full advantage of their "home" field, and won all 3 games against us.  The bright spot for us was Trent Sheppard, who bowled very well in posting his new high game & series for the season with a great 239-631.  Chris Branner also rolled a nice 203 in game 2.  Boys are now 7 - 2 on the season, and the match on Thursday vs. Antioch just got much bigger.  Hang in there, 'Cats!

Thursday, November 8
Wildcats fast start leads to 17-10 win over Antioch; Girls sweep 27-0!

For the 2nd time this season against Antioch, the Wildcat Boys started the first game on fire and swept all 8 points, this time with a season-high 1292 game!!  After that it was a "cruising" finish with 3542 pins and a 17-10 victory.   There were lots of stars today, with high game going to JR Clemons with a 248, and Seth Carey a close 2nd with a great 247 (7 strikes in a row!).  High series went to Geremy Roseti with a 634.  Other great scores were:  Trent Sheppard 221-621; Drew Morrow 227-616;  JR Clemons with a 601 series; and Chris Branner a 202 game.  WOW!  The boys pull back into a 2nd place tie in the District 10 standings, and are again only 1 game behind Mt. Juliet.  SUPER BOWLING, WILDCATS!!

The LadyCats easily extend their district winning streak to 43 matches, and move to 8 - 0 on the season with their first-ever points "sweep" in a match, winning 27-0 over the Antioch LadyBears!  Rolling 2761 with no 200+ games, the balanced LadyCats were led by Brittany Farmer with a 199-562, and Brittany Turner with a 186-543.  Now both boys & girls teams can say "We have a sweep."  Congrats, LadyCats...keep up the good work!!

Tuesday, November 13
Wildcat Boys & Girls win big over Glencliff

Both teams rolled to a easy victory over Glencliff, with the Boys winning 24-3, and the Girls 23-4.  Pin counts were not as high as Coach would have liked, as the team again "played down" to the competition!  A few bowlers did stand out - for the boys Geremy Roseti had a very good day, leading the way with a 221-639, and Trent Sheppard rolled a nice 225 game.  Wildcats received some help from District leader Mt Juliet, as they beat Antioch and coupled with our win the boys moved to sole possession of 2nd place in the standings with their 8-2 record!

The Lady Wildcats were led by So. Brennan Page, who was back to her early-season form with a nice 192 game & 517 series.  Even with the lower scores today, the LadyCats moved to 9 - 0 on the season, and their winning streak stretched to 44 matches.  GO LADYCATS!!

The Wildcats got better every game, rolling 1076-1123-1192 for a nice 3391 series in their victory.  Trent Sheppard has really turned into the Senior leader coach knew he could be, bowling a very good 202-235-211 - 648 series!  Also bowling good games today were Sr. Drew Morrow with the high game today at 237, and Fr. Chris Branner with a nice 211 in game 1.  Boys team moves to 11-2 on the season, and have now locked at least 2nd place in the District standings!  First place is still within reach, as we face our rivals from Mt. Juliet on Thursday.  Bring your friends and come watch what should be a close and fun match!!  GO, 'CATS!!

300 game by Trent Sheppard!!

What a way to finish regular season play today for Senior bowler Trent Sheppard - after struggling for two games to find the line, Trent calmly put together twelve strikes in-a-row for the first-ever perfect game in WC history!!!!  With Principal Mayfield watching, Trent started striking and by the end of the game had everyone from both Mount Juliet and WC cheering him on!!  Of the last shot, Trent said "My knees were shaking and I could hardly see the lane as I let the ball go!  Then it seemed to be rolling down the lane in slow motion.  As it hit the pins, I didn't really know if I had done it...but when all my teammates mobbed me on the approach, I knew I had it!!"  Well done, Mr. Sheppard!!

With all the adversity this young man has endured the last couple of years, this feat is truly "one to remember" for everyone at WC.  Trent, I can honestly say  I have never been more proud to be a bowling coach than today.  You are an outstanding young man, and now, one heck of a bowler, too!!  Thanks for "sticking with the program" and allowing me to help you achieve this goal!!           -Coach Mark

Thursday, November 29
Even with the 300 game, boys drop another close one to Mt Juliet
The Wildcat Boys keep improving and are getting closer to our District rivals Mt Juliet with each match against them.  Losing again by a 10-17 score, this time the 'Cats were only 51 pins down on total pins, and several of the individual matches were decided by less than a spare!  Rolling a season-high series of 3556, the boys gave it all with their heart, but the "firepower" was still a little short.  Two of the Mt Juliet players also bowled their highest series' of the season...so we will keep working and hopefully earn the right to face them again in the District 10 finals.  Trent Sheppard's 300-659 obviously led the team today, and Drew Morrow rolled a nice 224-614.  Other good scores today were:  Geremy Roseti with a 233; Seth Carey a 209; JR Clemons a 205; and Chris Branner with a 202.  Wildcats finish the regular season in 2nd place in the District, and an 11 - 3 record - our best ever for the regular season.  KEEP MOVING FORWARD, BOYS!!

Great bowling, Wildcats, and CONGRATULATIONS and GOOD LUCK to Brittany & Geremy!!!
