LadyCats overpowered and overmatched in State Tourney

In a match our ladies would probably like to soon forget, the Hixson Lady Wildcats rolled an awesome 1157 in game 1 and cruised the rest of the way over our girls 23-4.  While pumped up and excited, and definitely loose before the match, the relaxed feeling slipped away mid-way through Game 1.  We started off very strong - several strikes in the first 3 frames.  But through frames 5 - 7, the Hixson girls caught fire while our LadyCats missed way too many easy spares.  With a final score of 1157-907, and only winning 1 point, it was obvious this day was not going to be ours.

Games 2 and 3 were "better."  With scores of 960 and 964, the girls seemed to loosen back up and bowl more like they usually do.  But we needed our best performance of the year to even come close to this team, and it was not to be today.  Congrats to Brennan Page with high game of the day at 214 - 548 series; and to Brittany Farmer, after a cold start in game 1 finished with a 550 series with a 204 score in games 2 & 3.  And, we must also give props to Alyssa Bald, who subbed in game 3 and bowled her highest game ever of 180!  All in all, not a performance we wanted, but valuable experience gained for this very talented young team!  I have NO DOUBT we will be back next year!!  Congratualtions, Lady Wildcats on another OUTSTANDING season!!

Farmer & Roseti both come up short in Individual State

After battling a stomach ailment that had her hospitalized earlier in the week, Brittany Farmer bravely attempted to bowl anyway in the 2008 TSSAA Individual State Tournament.  She had worked so hard all year to qualify as one of the top bowlers in the State with a 190 average, but was just too weak from her illness to be in "top form" for this tournament.  Brittany rolled a 621 for 4 games, and still finished tied for 42nd place out of 67 girls.  Hats off to Ms. Farmer for valiantly trying to compete, and hopefully she can get some rest for the team event!

Geremy Roseti also had a difficult time with the lane conditions at Smyrna.  With a high game of 160, Geremy simply never got "lined up" and finished 60th out of 65 bowlers in this years' event.

To Brittany and Geremy:  Hold your heads up HIGH!!  Both of you are GREAT bowlers and even better - SUPER young people!!  I am very proud of both of you on your great year...Geremy, you will be back next year, I'm sure!  And Brittany, you have had a super 4 year run on this team, thank you for your hard work & determination to "be the best."  Our team would not have gone as far without you these past 4 years!!  THANKS!!                                  -  Coach Mark

LadyCats are Region 5 Champions again!!

WOW!!  What a performance today in game 1 of the Region 5 finals, as our WC LadyCats "rose to the occasion," and blasted off with a SCHOOL RECORD 1111 game #1, winning 7 of 8 points!  Led by Sr. Brittany Farmer's AWESOME 266 game, the LadyCats built a 175-pin lead that Centennial HS vailiantly tried to overcome, but thankfully couldn't as we cruised home with a 17-10 victory!!  Farmer also led the way with a great 624 series; other good scores were So. Brennan Page with a nice 192-554; Fr. Danielle Chaffin with a 188-503; and Sr. Brittany Turner with a 196 game.

Hats off to Coach Renee Lane and her Centennial squad and their "never give up" attitude, as they rolled a great 1006 game 3 and took 7 of 8 points!  We wish them good luck in their sectional match vs. Hendersonville HS!  Our next step is the Sectional match vs. the Region 6 runner-up Greenbrier HS, which is tomorrow at 3:30pm at Hermitage Lanes.  Keep the ball rolling, Ladies...we are almost there!!

Semi-finals belong to the LadyCats
Win one and our season goes on for another day...and that's what we did!!  With a 20.5 - 6.5 victory over Martin Luther King HS, our ladies advanced to the Regional final!!  In a move made by the knowledge that our opponents were not as experienced as us, Coach Mark started the 7-8-9 bowlers in this match, to help rest some starters' arms for the final.  Leading the way this match was Sr. Brittany Turner with a nice 205 game & 547 series, and Sr. Brittany Farmer added a good 203 game.  Now it is on to the finals................!!

LadyCats start off strong in Regions, win big over Franklin 22-5
After 5 weeks of waiting, the Region 5 Tournament finally arrived.  And with such a long layoff between competitions, it could have been a concern whether the LadyCats were "ready" to play.  A resounding 22-5 victory over Franklin HS easily answered that question!!  Starting off strong with a 1030 in game 1, the girls jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead, with a 128-pin lead!  Game 2 the entire team seemed to lose steam, but we still won that game 5-3, with pin totals 933-880.  Then coach asked the girls to "loosen up and have some fun" and boy did they!!  With their third-highest game of the season at 1052, the LadyCats cruised to the victory!!  Leading the way today was our leader Brittany Farmer with a nice 223-601, and Kirstin Page started us off the right way with the first five strikes in game 1 with a 210 game, and finishing with a 512 series!!  Next up is MLK in the semi-finals...GO LADYCATS!!

LadyCats are District Champs for the 4th straight year!!
The Lady Wildcats are the 2007 District 10 Champions, their 4th straight District title!!  After being asked to "come out of the gate fast," the LadyCats followed coach's request to a "T" with a super 1044 first game, winning 6-2.  After that, they bowled well enough to finish with a 19-8 victory over rival Mt Juliet!!  Sr. Brittany Farmer led our girls with a nice 227 game and 586 series.  Other good scores were:  Brennan Page with a 202-509;  and Kirstin Page with a 191-502.  Now it is time for LOTS more practice to lead us up to the Region 5 tournament, which will be held in January - dates & times TBA.  Way to go, Lady Wildcats!!

Wildcat Boys' season comes to an end...fall short vs. Antioch

Wilson Central's boys team made a great run through the regular season.  But District tournament time always seems to find a way of slowing our guys down, and today was no exception.  Bowling against a much improved Antioch squad, our boys couldn't find the strikes when they needed them and fell today 8.5-18.5. The boys really didn't bowl badly, the Antioch boys simply bowled better!  The Bears had their highest series of the year against us, with pin totals at 3490 to 3404.  We bowled OK from game to game, but couldn't match the intensity that Antioch showed today.  Good scores for us were by Geremy Roseti with a great 254 game & 676 series; JR Clemons with a 235 game; Chris Branner with a 205 & 204 game; Krishna Patel with a 204; and Drew Morrow with a 203 game.

After graduating 4 of our top 5 bowlers last year, this was supposed to be kind of a "rebuilding" year anyway.  And these boys showed that they were more than up to the challenge of filling the shoes of last year's seniors!!  Finishing the season with a 12 - 4 record is definitely something to be proud of...our best season record EVER at WC!!  CONGRATS guys on a great year...keep working on your game(s), and next year may be even better!!

The Wildcat Boys got off to a good start to this year's District 10 tournament with an easy victory over Lebanon 23.5 - 3.5!!  Rolling a very balanced 3450 total, the boys won every game by 90 pins or more, and cruised through this round.  Tops today for the boys were Geremy Roseti with a 235 game & 619 series; Krishna Patel came in for games 2 & 3 and bowled 225 & 200; Trent Sheppard had a 219-211 & 611 series; Chris Branner rolled a 204-201 & 598 series; and JR Clemons had a 200 game.  Great bowling, guys...good luck tomorrow in the semi-finals!!
