State Championship 8/2/09
This year, Warren County had four new qualifiers for the State Championship. In the Senior division, one of our new members, Jeffery Patch qualified in his very first tournament on the Potomac River. In the Junior Division, Cody Beahm and David Meade each qualified when they caught fish for the first time during a qualifying tournament. Tray Morrison, also a new member, qualified in his very first tournament. These four youth were able to move on to compete on Smith Mountain Lake for the title of the Virginia State Champion. After having a great practice day, the weather proved to be a problem on tournament day. Jeffery Patch came home with the big fish award with a 2.9 lb fish. His four fish weighing a total of 4 lbs put him in the 5th place spot for the Senior Division. Tray Morrison weighed in two fish for a tatal of 2.35 lbs and found himself in 4th place for the Junior Division. While the fishing was a little harder for Cody Beahm and David Meade, you can bet these boys will never forget this experience. All four boys will be back next year fishing hard to earn their way back to the State Championship. Good job boys!!

Conservation and Community Projects
Lake Frederick Clean Up
On March 23rd we held our annual Lake Frederick Cleanup project. This year we had the help of the Frederick County Jr. BASS Wranglers. We started out the day with some fishing, the Warren County Jr. BASS Anglers paired up with the Frederick County Jr. BASS Wranglers. A big thanks to our sponsors for providing the boats for our anglers, I've never seen so many boats at Lake Frederick. Once all boats were in, we started gathering trash and debris from around the lake. We had plenty of full trash bags when we were through. We then enjoyed a cookout and a few words from some of our sponsors, Jim Sutton, Save Phace and Jeff Wolf, Minnow Bucket. Our wonderful sponsors donated fishing poles, a bait bucket, a tackle box, and plenty of bait which we raffled off. Each of our anglers received something.
Trout Unlimited - Happy Creek
The week of April 16th kept us busy with our conservation project with Trout Unlimited picking up litter and cleaning debris from Happy Creek. A big thanks to Mike Swager and other members of Trout Unlimited for inviting us to join their cookout afterwards. We were back at Happy Creek on Friday, helping to stock the creek with hundreds of trout. On Saturday, for our community project, we assisted Trout Unlimited with Kid's Fishing Day which was a great success.
