Warren County Jr. B.A.S.S. Anglers: Welcome

Lake Anna
Warren County Jr. BASS Anglers

The Warren County Jr. B.A.S.S. Anglers was founded in 2004 by Joseph Thomson and Clark Thomson to introduce the sport of fishing and conservation to our youth. We are sponsored by B.A.S.S. Federation Nation of Virginia at the state level and National B.A.S.S. Federation Nation at the national level.

Junior members gain skills from "How-To" Clinics, Educational Workshops based on conservation, good fishing ethics, catch-and-release and habitat restoration. Junior members also get involved with youth tournaments, Bassmaster CastingKids programs and community service projects.

Junior BASS clubs are a great place to make new friends, as well as to learn and experience new techniques. Junior BASS clubs foster an environment that is designed to create opportunities that can help you land that giant bucketmouth bass. You’ll discover a new world of adventures you can only find on the water. When you bring together all of these values and the camaraderie you will share with your fellow club members, mixed with the thrill and spirit of friendly competition, you will understand why 45-50 million American traditionalists are so passionate about fishing.

One of the most dynamic and exciting opportunities BASS has created for Junior anglers is the Junior Bassmaster World Championship! Just like Mom or Dad competing in the BASS Federation Nation club competitions, this program allows Junior members to compete in a club level, ultimately qualifying for their Junior Bassmaster State Championship.  In 2007, Warren County had five members qualify for the Junior State Championship.  Warren County has had two members win the VA State Championship to qualilfy and fish in the Junior Bassmaster World Championship.  In 2005, Chad Ruckman placed 7th in the World Championship!  In 2007, Mitch Willis won the VA State Championship in the Junior Division and again in 2008 in the Senior Division.

The competition program mirrors the BASS Federation tournament structure. Through competition, Junior Bassmasters can earn a place at the Jr. Bassmaster World Championship, a Bassmaster Classic all their own.

The potentials abound and there are no limitations to what you can share, learn and experience as a Junior Bassmaster. Fishing has no boundaries and tomorrow’s forecast looks like a great day to take up a rewarding and lifelong tradition.
