Volunteer Responsibilities
8 & Under Staging:
· Line up 8 & Under swimmers according to heat sheet
· Insure that 8 & Under swimmers are in the correct lane for the correct heat
· Arrive 30 minutes prior to start of session
Admissions:
· Collect admission fees
· Sell meet programs
· Arrive 30 minutes prior to warm-ups
Announcer:
· Announce heats and events throughout meet
· Make other appropriate announcements as needed
· Arrive at start of warm-ups
Awards:
· Put labels on ribbons
· Sort ribbons by team
· Post results as needed
· Arrive shortly after start of meet
Back-up or Chief Timer:
· Use stopwatch or stopwatches to record swimmers’ times
· Relieve lane timers as needed
· Assist lane timers if a stopwatch malfunctions
· Attend timers’ meeting prior to start of meet
· Arrive 30 minutes prior to start of session
Chuck-A-Duck:
· Collect money for ducks
· Record names of people buying ducks
· Assign swimmer to go in the pool with something to throw ducks into
· Pay out money to winner
· Turn money into concession stand
· Arrive at start of warm-ups
Clerk of Course:
· Get initials/signatures for positive sign-in events
· Record scratches, additions and changes to individual and relay events
· Give recorded information to Meet Computer Operator
· Arrive 30 minutes prior to warm-ups
Concessions/Hospitality:
· Prepare simple food
· Assist customers with buying food
· Take money and make change
· Monitor hospitality room· Clean up as needed
· Arrive at start of warm ups
Concessions Set Up:
· Assist with carrying in food and equipment for concession stand
· Organize and prepare concession stand for operation during meet
· Decorate and prepare hospitality room for coaches’ and officials’ use
· Arrive 60 minutes prior to warm ups
Facilities Crew:
· Set up chairs, tables, touch pads and wiring prior to meet
· Place and plug in touch pads immediately prior to start of meet
· Assist scorer in verifying operation of touch pads
· Remain on stand-by during meet in case of malfunctioning pads
· Take down and put away all equipment listed above
· Arrive 30 minutes prior to warm ups
Meet Computer Operator:
· Set up and tear down the meet computer system
· Run the computer system during the meet
· Arrive 60 minutes prior to warm ups
Officials’ Assistant:
· Record disqualifications
· Give recorded disqualifications to Meet Computer Operator
· Arrive 30 minutes prior to start of session
Runner:
· Collect timing slips and give to Meet Computer Operator
· Post results as needed
· Give printed labels to awards volunteers
· Arrive 30 minutes prior to start of session
Timer:
· Use stopwatch to record swimmers’ times
· Record swimmers’ times on timing sheets
· Attend timers’ meeting prior to start of meet
· Arrive 30 minutes prior to start of session
Timing Equipment Operator:
· Set up and tear down the timing system
· Run the timing system during the meet
· Be able to fix system issues during the meet as needed
· Arrive 60 minutes prior to warm ups
