Watertown Arrow Fastpitch: Welcome
The Watertown Arrows Fastpitch Team was started in the fall of 1999. In Watertown it is a club sport, which means although the school does not financially support the team, they do recognize it, the student/athletes do follow all academic & training rules. At the end of the season, if they meet all of set standards, they do recieve an athletic letter.
The first few years Watertown played in the Class A division, taking 2nd in 2000 and won the state title in 2003. In 2005, the Arrows finished 3rd.
Then in 2007, we were moved up to the "AA" Division. In 2007 finished 5th and 2008, moved up to 4th. But in 2009, the Arrows put it together in a weather delayed one day, double elim tournament. The Arrows started play at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning with a win, then lost their 2nd game. The team never left the field, playing 7 games in a row. 12 hours later they were State Champs.
Over the years the JV team has had numerous top three finishes, with a state championship in 2005.
A couple of years ago Watertown started a middle school fall program. In 2010, they had 2 teams with one of those winning their division also. In 2011, again the Arrows Middle School team won their state tournament.
In a town where slowpitch is the game of choice, alot of our players play minimum fastpitch in the suimmer, if at all. But for the 8 week fall season, the girls who do choose to come out and play Arrow Fastpitch, work hard, never give up, and by the end of the season, year in and year out we will be very competitve.
