December 15th, 2005....?
As we get ready for another Season of rough and rugged Mighty Watchung Conference basketball. I just thought I would mention that this is going to be the year of the Point Guard!. 5 of the teams in the Watchung Conference will be led into battle with competent 1's handling the basketball. Scotch Plains will be led by Fab. Fr. Ashton Gibbs. Gibbs has the tools to make a big impact on the varsity squad. Union will have Super Sophomore Donovan Smalls Jr. Smalls has been tabbed the next PG in the mold of Laforest Knox and Chris Chadwick to have the ability to get to the basket and knock down the open shot. Shabazz will have the double trouble duo of Ray-Ray and Day-Day in the backcourt running things and Plainfield will have Mr. Everything Anthony Nelson on the sidelines. Anthony can get to then basket and get his shot off vs anyone, and with his vision on the court, he will average 10 assist a game this year. Linden will boast Desmond Wade. Wade has been a member of the AAU State champ Linden Flames for 6 years now, and its time he brought his nationally mentioned name to the Tigers and contribute. Irvington will be in good hands with Mike Galacre at the 1 as well. Mike is a PG with a scoring mentality, but will dish the ball to open teammates. Terell Simmons will man the PG position with his physical play. Terell plays the PG game like a power foward. This is the year of the PG for the Watchung Conference.
**This is just a preview and forecast... These players may not even end up at their local Hs's...***
