The Washington Spirit 16A team is part of the Washington Spirit Gold-Ochoa organization which is managed by Adrian Ochoa and is based out Pasco, Wa. The Spirit team was passed on to Coach Ochoa after Kelly Richards decided to step down after many successful years of coaching. Coach Ochoa also reformed the Washington Spirit Gold team which he had a part in creating years ago also with Coach Richards. Players in the Spirit Organization are from various high schools throughout Eastern Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Spirit 16A is a showcase team that will attend various showcase tournaments throughout the nation as well as having the goal of qualifiying for ASA Nationals.
Spring Schedule for our 16A team is:
June 10-12, LV Tourneys, Las Vegas, Nevada
June 17-19, Valley Invite, Hillsboro, OR
June 24-26 National Qualifier, Hillsboro, OR
July 8-10 ASA State Tournament, Vancouver, WA
July 15-17 ASA Regionals, Pasco, WA
July 23-24 WA State Games
August 1-, 16A Nationals in Chatanooga, TN or Western Nationals in Kent, WA
The Washington Spirit Organization would like to introduce to you our Spirit 16A coaching staff and players for the 2010-2011 season:
Adrian Ochoa runs the Spirit Organization and will manage and coach the Spirit Gold team. He will also manage the Spirit 16A team and will handle the recruiting for both teams.
Michelle Wheeler will be coaching the 16A team this spring. Michelle comes to us after finishing her playing career at CBC. She played for one season under Coach Ochoa and Coach Weisgerber, so she is no stranger to their coaching styles. Prior to CBC Michelle attended Othello High School where she played for Rudy Ochoa. She was part of one State Championship Team, finished runner-up twice and was a member of the All-State team three times.
