Blue Lion wrestlers compete in summer wrestling tournaments

This summer many Blue Lion wrestlers competed in off season tournaments, clubs, and open mats. The experience many of these wrestlers gained in the off season will help when the season comes around.

Jamison Morris, Blaine Bailey, Paul Gryniuk, Ben Parks, Nick Buckner, Nick Wilson, Alex Fox, and David Holbrook all competed this past off season.  4 of the wrestlers Jamison Morris, Blaine Bailey, Paul Gryniuk, and Ben Parks competed at the NHSCA National Open Championships. In order to compete at this tournament you must place in the top 4 at a State Qualifier. This tournament brings in top wrestlers and every college  wrestling coach is invited to attend.

38 states were represented at the tournament with many State Champions and State Qualifiers attending. Any wrestler that places in the top 8  is a All-American. This year Ben Parks finshed 6th in the junior high division to earn All-American status. Paul Gryniuk won 2 matches, Jamison Morris finished with 1 win. Blaine Bailey finished 0-2.
