PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's basketball team defeated Maine, 94-70, on Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence. Senior Kadeem Batts (Boston, Mass.) scored his 1,000 point as a Friar and recorded a double-double with 22 points (10-of-13) and 11 rebounds. Batts' 1,000 point came with a layup at the 8:31 mark. The 56 points scored by the Friars was their highest point total in a half this season. Providence carried its momentum into the second half en route to its 24-point victory. In the second half, the Friars shot 44 percent from the field (15-of-34). Maine (1-9) shot 57 percent in the half (17-for-30). Batts' double-double was his fourth of the season.
