Anderson to NESCAC
Middlesex’s Scott Anderson has finally made his pick and he’s headed to Tufts. The 6’5” forward has been a primary target for many teams in the conference for quite a long time, but ultimately he decided to become a Jumbo. Anderson has had a brilliant high school career and figures to have similar success on the next level. He combines tremendous upper body strength, a hard working approach to the game, and a very high basketball I.Q. to help his team in a variety of ways. Not only is he someone who can score and rebound the ball in high volume under the basket, but he’s also developed into a dangerous weapon at the high post thanks to his ability to step away and score in addition to his undervalued passing ability.

As Middlesex 2008-09 basketball season continues, the Zebras are looking to stir up the league under the leadership of Scott Anderson ‘09. After a hot 5-1 start, with the one loss coming to a very talented St. Mark’s team, it is clear that Anderson has the team performing at the same high standard they set last year. Anderson returns to the squad after being named captain as a junior. Playing in the post, Scott averaged a league leading 10.4 rebounds per game last year. He also averaged 21.3 points per game; third best in the ISL. Middlesex will look for Scott to continue to score in bunches from down low as he made nearly 60% of his shots from inside the arc last year.
Aside from being a star basketball player, Scott also plays football and lacrosse at the varsity level. During the fall, Scott captained the football team and anchored the offensive line. Once basketball ends, Scott will rejoin an extremely talented Zebra lacrosse team that will contend for the ISL championship. Returning as the basketball captain for the second straight year, Scott has set his sights on being named to the First Team All-ISL for the third consecutive year. Also, Scott enters the season on the cusp of reaching 1,000 points for his career, trying to become only the third player in Middlesex history to record such a feat. More importantly, however, Anderson as well as the rest of the team is looking to improve on the 12-9 mark from last season. Barely missing the playoffs last year was tough to handle, but the team returns all five starters with Anderson at the helm and expects to be competitive with every team that comes into the Cage. |
