We're having a Waltham Girls Softball meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at 6 pm in the Lodge at Prospect Hill on Totten Pond Road. All are welcome to attend. We'll be discussing the upcoming season, winter clinics, board positions, and more. If you're interested in helping out or if you're just curious about anything related to our league, we'd love to have you attend.

The Monday night pick-up games over the summer were a lot of fun and we had 15 to 20 girls show up each time. We're continuing our Monday night pick-up games for girls in 6th grade and up in September. We'll be at Cusick Field on September 21 from 5 pm until 7-ish (or whenever it gets too dark to play). Come on out and play!

This year's Softball Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009, at the Moose Lodge on Spruce St. from 6:30-10 pm, with trophy presentation beginning at 7:30 pm, and dancing after that. All registered softball players will receive a trophy for participating in the 2009 season and two players from each team will receive the Coaches Award and the Sportsmanship Award. The cost for the banquet (which includes pizza, chicken fingers, salad, cake, and soft drinks) is $5 for adults, $1 for siblings, and players are free, with a maximum of $10 per family. Tickets will be available at the door. The awards banquet is always a lot of fun and a great way to wrap up the season with your teammates, family, and friends. Hope to see you there!

We're playing tonight, Aug. 31. Come join us! Beginning on July 13, 2009, all Senior League players and all 5th graders from the 2009 season are invited to come out and play some pick-up softball on Monday nights from 6-8 pm at Elsie Turner Field on Trapelo Road. (For a map and directions, click on "Locations" on the menu on the left.) Hope to see you there!

The Senior League playoffs are a double-elimination format (lose two games and you're out). They began on Sunday, June 14, at 6 pm at Cusick Field with a game between Joyce and Watertown, which Watertown won. Watertown played Royal in Game 2 on Tuesday, June 16, and won again.
