Walnut Creek Little League has a unique fundraising opportunity this year.  We would like to ask for your participation in a program called Birdies for Charity in conjunction with the Principal Charity Classic.

Every birdie made during the Principal Charity Classic means bucks for WCLL!  WCLL receives 100% of every donation collected and receives a 25% match, or Bonus Bucks, for reaching $1500 in pledges.  The top 25 fundraising charities will also receive extra Bonus Bucks, up to $2500.  There are two ways to pledge:  a per-birdie amount for every birdie made by the Champions Tour players during the three day Principal Charity Classic, or a one-time flat donation.
To create additional excitement for the program, the Principal Charity Classic will sponsor a "Guess the Birdies" contest.  Participants who commit to a minimum pledge or donation or complete an official pledge form are eligible to guess the number of birdies that will be made by Champions Tour players Friday through Sunday of the Principal Charity Classic.  The individual who correctly guesses the number of birdies will win John Deere equipment.  Birdies for Charity will also be giving away prizes each month to donors.  These prizes include a John Deere gas grill, a John Deere walk-behind lawn mower, and a John Deere lawn tractor.
WCLL asks for your support through the Birdies for Charity program.  Your donation will be greatly appreciated in our efforts to continue improving our facilities.  Please share this information with friends and family, as anyone can make a donation to help support WCLL.

Welcome to the Walnut Creek Little League (WCLL) web site!  WCLL provides an exceptional youth baseball experience for a wide range of ages and skill levels.   We serve parts of Clive, Urbandale, Waukee, West Des Moines and other western suburbs of Des Moines.  Click here to see a map of our Little League boundary.

We are a privately owned (non-profit), operated, and maintained league affiliated with the national Little League organization.  We are a member of Iowa District 5.  We have eight fields and 2 concession stands and host recreational and tournament play throughout the season. The baseball fields are located on 156th Street/Boone Drive across from Eason Elementary School in the Waukee School District. 2013 Concession Volunteer Sign-Up Directions:

1.  Click the link above.
2.  Once you are on the Calendar page, you will see all of the available shifts for which you can volunteer.
3.  Choose the shift that you would like to work and send a request to volunteer@wcllia.com or leaguepresident@wcllia.com.  Please provide your date and time request, your name, your player's name, age division and team. Revisit the Calendar page the next morning to confirm that your slot has been reserved.   
 
***Please note if your scheduled date is rained out prior to you checking in for your shift, that does not count for reimbursement of your volunteer fee.  You will need to sign up for another date in order to get reimbursed.  If you have checked into the concession stand to work and while you are there, we cancel games due to weather, that would then count for reimbursement.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Julie Petsche at volunteer@wcllia.com.

A few important notes:
  • All shifts are 2 hours long.  They are 5:15-7:15 and 7:15-9:15.  
  • You will be asked to sign-in and sign-out at the East Concession Stand to confirm your attendance.
  • Your $35 Volunteer Fee will be reimbursed to you via the Credit Card you used to register your child.  Concession refunds will be done twice per month, on the 15th and 30th.
  • If you have more than one child in the league, you will need to work one shift for each child to receive each $35 Volunteer Fee Refund.
  • The Calendar will be “locked” for the upcoming week at the end of the Saturday before. Once a week is locked, you will not be able to volunteer for slots during that week. This allows the league to appropriately plan our paid staff at the concession stands.
  • ***Children under the age of 15 are NOT allowed in the concession stands. Please make alternate arrangements for them when you work your shift. Unfortunately due to our insurance, we can not allow anyone under the age of 15 to be in the concessions. This is a change from last year.
If working at the concession stand during these shifts does not fit your schedule, but you would still like an opportunity to earn your $35 refund, please contact Mike Young at leaguepresident@wcllia.com to make alternate arrangements.

2013 WCLL Fundraiser information 

The candy bars will be available to be handed out and money turned in on the following dates and times:

  • Monday, April 8th from 5:30-7:00 pm
  • Thursday, April 11th from 5:30-7:00 pm
  • Tuesday, April 16th from 5:30-7:00 pm
  • Thursday, April 18th from 5:30-7:00 pm
  • Monday, April 22nd from 5:30-7:00 pm
  • Thursday, April 25th from 5:30-7:00 pm
  • Tuesday, April 30th from 5:30-7:00 pm
  • Thursday, May 2nd from 5:30-7:00 pm
  • Friday, May 3rd from 5:30-7:00 pm (***last night of the fundraiser. All money must be turned in by this date)

Please note candy bars can still be sold after the May 3rd date.  However in order to qualify for the prizes, all money must be turned in at one of the dates listed above by May 3rd.

2013 WCLL Picture Day Schedule now available!

Click on the link below to see our picture day schedule for Saturday, April 20th.  If your team absolutely can not make that date, you'll need to contact our photographer directly to reschedule for our only make-up date Tuesday, April 23rd.  If your scheduled time does not work for you, you may switch with another team.  You will need to coordinate that switch yourself.  Once it's done and agreed upon between both coaches, please email Julie Petsche at julieandtyp@yahoo.com to let her know of the switch.
