In a game akin to a scrimmage, both Wall and Middletown South prepared for the State playoffs with an eye on avoiding injury and bad habits. South took the contest 4-0.

(V) Wall loses to RBC 5-2 .....
Wall lost to RBC 5-2 in their first round matchup of the Shore Conference Handchen Cup playoffs. The Caseys started out slow, but still had more than enough talent to overcome a shorthanded Crimson Knights squad thanks to The Holiday school break. The Knights pushed hard early in the 1st period for a goal, but RBC rode the tide and then tallied near the 3 min mark of the period to draw first blood. RBC took full charge with 3 more goals in the 2nd using their fresh legs to take full advantage of Wall's tired and depleted bench. Wall, recharged after the intermission, regrouped in the 3rd when Panico used Corso as a decoy and scored an unassisted goal on the pretty odd-man rush. RBC however answered mins later to go up 5-1 and retake some of the momentum. McCarthy then used Zoller on a 2-on-1 rush to pot Wall's final goal

(V) Wall trims Vianney 2-1
Wall and St John Vianney arguably played one of the best matches of the season in a game Wall won 2-1. Netminders Klahre (Wall) and Gettens (SJV) turned the contest into a battle of goalies as each made great saves throughout the game. Wall struck first midway thru the 2nd when Marabeti netted a wrister (assists to Fitch and Panico) at 9:13 for a lead that lasted well into the 3rd period. Wall's Klahre held fort until a forward took an untimely penalty with under 3 minutes remaining in the game. The Lancers power-play took full advantage scoring at the 42.1 mark to tie, but Wall, forced to call a timeout, followed up by dumping the puck into SJV's zone. Fitch, using his speed and smarts, coralled the loose puck in the low slot and slid his shot into the corner of the net for the hard-fought victory, earning goalie Klahre and his teammates a much deserved and exciting win.

(V) Wall succumbs to Toms River South 4-1
Wall played Toms River South tough last night in losing 4-1. The Indians duo of Malone and Unger, who have made a habit of multi-point nights, again combined for 6-points to hold The Crimson Knights' game effort at bay. Malone potted 2 goals in the first period and followed up with a helper in the 2nd. Unger sealed the victory in the 3rd with his lone goal of the evening but had a huge impact in the 1st when he assisted on both of Malone's tallies. Wall started the evening strong by pinning The Indians in their own zone for a good portion of the 1st period, even scoring on Berardo's wrister during a netmouth scramble. Questionably, the goal was waved-off by the refs, arguably setting the stage as the game's turning point. Toms River South took advantage by cashing in minutes later on Malone's first of the game. With only 53.4 remaining in the 2nd, Zoller would deposit a quick wrister, garnering Marabeti and O'Keefe assists to trim the deficit to 3-1. Wall, however would fail to score the rest of the way despite their hard work. Next game is against SJV.

Thursday, February 10
(V) Wall beats Jackson Memorial 5-1
Ryan Calabro and Kevin Fitch each tallied two goals in leading The Crimson Knights over The Jackson Memorial Jaguars 5-1. An unassisted goal by defenseman Wuestneck opened the scoring a minute into the contest. Fitch followed at 9:56 with his first when he outraced a Jaguars player to the puck garnering O'keefe (2A) and sophomore Luke Stohrer assists. Calabro then potted his first with 3:57 left in the 2nd off O'Keefe's second helper of the game. Fitch and Calabro would surround a lone Jaguars goal when Fitch closed the 2nd on a roofer and Calabro the 3rd off a McCarthy feed. Next up Toms River South.....

(V) Wall trims Freehold Township 2-1
It's that time of season, playoff prep time, when games get tighter and 'spoilers' look to rise to the occasion. And so it was that on Senior Night, The Crimson Knights earned a hard-fought 2-1 win despite finding themselves up against a solid Patriots netminder. Freehold Twp tallied 1st when Stohrer, playing well in net for Wall lately, gave up a screened shot mins into the game. The Wall defense took charge in the 2nd, tying the game with 2 secs remaining when d-man Diaz (first varsity goal - congrats!) cycled low and tipped in defense partner O'Keefe's slapper (assist to Mazur). Defenseman Panico's blast from the blueline then sealed the contest for Wall with 5:42 left on the clock. The Knights look to continue their winning ways against Jackson Memorial, but first, a heart-felt congratulations to all The Crimson Knights seniors and their families ...... ;-)

Wednesday, February 2
(V) SJV outlast Crimson Knights 5-4 .......
A spunky St. John Vianney squad played opportunists by grabbing a 5-3 win off an illness-shortened Crimson Knights bench.Their score midway into the 1st set the table despite a power-play wrister by Fitch (2G, 1A, assists Panico, Maribeti) a minute later that tied the score and closed the 1st. In the 2nd, SJV tallied 3 unanswered to go up 4-1 until a McCarthy (1G, 1A) shot off a pretty pass from Fitch found net with seconds remaining. The 3rd then saw Wall halve their deficit when Fitch deposited his 2nd of the game off a McCarthy feed. But with a min left, and the game now a scramble, SJV snapped a knuckler that handcuffed netminder Stohrer to regain the 2 goal lead and seal the upset win. The Crimson Knights look to regroup against Freehold Township in their next match.

Tuesday, February 1
(V) Knights outlast Toms River North Mariners with 5-4 win
A young but determined Mariners team rebounded from a slow start to make a game of what started out as a dominant performance by The Knights. An early wrister by Calabro (assist McCarthy) 2 mins in set the tone. But gritty play by TRN along with stellar, and sometimes spectacular, goaltending held The Knights at bay. Wall capitalized in the 2nd though on 3 tallies with strong play up the middle. Goals by Wuestneck (1G, 1A) unassisted, Panico (helpers to Wuestneck, Kennedy) and Zoller (2G, assist to Fitch) pushed the lead to 4-0. Zoller then potted his 2nd of the game on a sweet breakaway in the 3rd to go up 5-0.  But the Mariners regrouped thanks to a lack of backchecking, a questionable penalty shot call, and some suspect play on a defensive face-off. Still, The Crimson Knights settled down to claim the 'W' earning netminder Klahre a rough-and-tumble but solid win for his game effort. Next up SJV - a tough opponent no doubt.....

Wednesday, February 2
(JV) Knights beat Manalapan 3-0 ....
The Knights earned a solid victory beating a game Manalapan Braves squad 3-0.  Goals were tallied by Bastardo, Mazur and Waddell.  Jake Henderson grabbed the win in net with his first shutout performance. The squad has now won 3 of their last 5 games against some very good competition.

Monday, January 31
(V) Knights grab win against Jackson Memorial
Wall grabbed another well-earned win against a tough Jackson Memorial team. The 4-0 win earned netminder Stohrer another shutout. Goals were tallied by Marabeti (1G, 1A) in the 1st on helpers by Zoller (1G, 1A) and Calabro. The 2nd period had McCarthy netting a wrister with assists from Wuestneck/Siroky, freshman Mazur finding the back of the net for his 1st varsity goal (assists Panico (2A)/Corso) and Zoller netting a beautiful give-and-go between he and Panico. Next is a young but game Toms River North match.

Tuesday, January 25
(V) Knights win big over Jackson Liberty Lions
Wall skated to a solid 8-1 victory against The Jackson Liberty Lions. The scoring started when defenseman Wuestneck (1G, 2A) tallied McCarthy (2A) and birthday-boy Ramsden's feeds minutes in. But when it was all said and done, it would be hats-off to Fitch (3G, 1A) who would tally a hat-trick for the evening starting with his first off helpers from Zoller (1G, 2A) and Panico (1G, 3A) in the 1st. Workman-like goals by Marabeti, Zoller, Calabro (1G, 1A) and Panico (a nifty rush) would surround a lone Jackon tally to complete the scoring sheet. Next up is Toms River North.

Friday, January 21
(V) Wall takes series v Cranford
Wall swept their series with Cranford when Calabro (2A) helped start the scoring when he assisted McCarthy not a minute into play. Corso then netted a shot to give Wall a 2 goal lead that went to 3 on a Fitch wrister (Panico 1G, 1A) seconds later. The power-play then stepped up in the 2nd on a snapshot from Panico garnering Mazur (2A) and Stohrer (1G, 1A) helpers. Wuestneck and Stohrer would then combine for a goal to go up 5-0 (assist to Mazur) to close the 2nd. A tally by Zoller (1G, 1A) would close the scoresheet at 6-0 gaining Calabro his 2nd assist for the game and Wall a well-earned victory.

Sunday, January 16
(V) Hunterdon and Wall tie 3-3
Hunterdon Central had a gameplan despite coming into the match winless in 10 tries. They executed it well by grabbing a quick lead in the 1st and then some despite  Fitch (3G) potting his 1st to close the period at 1-1. Wall rebounded in the 2nd but not until the scoreboard showed 2 more tallies in favor of the home squad and the clock no longer their ally. With Stohrer holding fort in net, it was then that Fitch took matters completely into hand in the 3rd. He tallied a nifty wrister to halve the deficit with just under 7 mins to go garnering Kennedy and Panico assists. With time quickly running out and The Crimson Knights staring at a loss, The Red Devils failed to clear a defensive puck that led to a face-off in their end. With 4.8 seconds remaining, it was again Fitch to the rescue when he netted the game-tying shot at 0.8 on the clock to grab the tie. Next up, rival Manasquan .....

Saturday, January 8
(V) Middletown North grabs win 5-2
A very game Middletown North used their speed to capture a 5-2 affair.  For the Knights, the scoring was led by the defense corps in the form of O'Keefe who tallied both goals, one on a slapper just off the goalie's mit, and the 2nd off cycling by Fitch and Zoller. Wall looks to rebound on Fri against Hunterdon Central at Protec Ponds.

Wednesday, January 5
(V) Wall grabs win over Freehold Township 4-1
The Patriots stymied The Crimson Knights much of the scoreless 1st period. But a strong 2nd set the course for The Crimson Knights when defenseman Diaz gathered a neutral zone puck, chipped it off the wall and went on the attack.  A nifty pass seconds later to McCarthy garnered him an assist when McCarthy netted a wrister.  Freehold retaliated near the frame's close to tie the game but it would be all they could muster. The Crimson Knights would tally off a tip-in by another defenseman, Wuestneck, off helpers by O'Connor and O'Keefe for a 2-1 lead. McCarthy struck again in the 3rd on a feed from Calabro to go up 3-1. Calabro would then deposit a feed by Wuestneck to finalize the scoreboard at 4-1. The Knights take on a tough opponent in Middletown North on Wed at home.

(V) Wall v Howell rematch (no recap avail)

Tuesday, December 28
(V) Wall ties Brick 3-3 in comeback.....
Wall and Brick tied 3-3 this past week thanks to solid efforts by several hardworking players. Not having seen much ice lately, the Stohrer line hit the sheet with a vengeance and immediately outworked Brick's players downlow. Kennedy netted the mucking line's chance in drawing first blood to give Wall the lead. But Brick outplayed Wall thereafter to tally three unanaswered to go up 3-1. If not for the solid netminding of Klahre though, a comeback might not have been possible. His game workmanship in net was rewarded when McCarthy netted a goal-line bad angle shot that eluded the Brick tender to halve the deficit in the 2nd. Centerman Ramsden then potted a shot off a scrum to even the match and complete the comeback...

Sunday, December 19
(V) Howell takes slanted match 9-1 ....
Wall couldn't match Howell's intensity and speed in a game where The Knights were simply outsmarted by The Rebels' endless odd-man rushes. The lone bright light was a neat goal scored by the hardworking Fitch on assists by Zoller and Wuestneck to help avoid a shutout in losing 9-1. The Crimson Knights look to regroup against Brick Memorial - another typically tough opponent ...

Wednesday, December 15
(V) Wall no match for Toms River South's Malone-Unger express in losing 6-1
The Knights knew Malone and Unger were threats so the game plan was to matchup against the duo accordingly. So much for the gameplan. Malone and Unger straifed Wall early with their speed and accuracy. Another workman effort gave way to several missed calls and bad luck bounces. Several down-low miscues didn't help the cause as pucks constantly found their way to the net resulting in tallies against. Next up for The Knights is the very electric Howell Rebels who have been untouchable as of late.....

Wednesday, December 15
(V) Wall beats Watchung Hills 7-3
Wall jumped on Watchung from the very start taking leads of 2-0 and 2-1. The game settled in but Wall simply had too many snipers for the hardpressed Regional opponent. Goals were tallied by Panico, McCarthy, O'Connor, O'Keefe, Zoller (2G) and Fitch with assists garnered by Panico, Stohrer, Holmes, Zoller, Marabeti, and Calabro.

Tuesday, December 7
(V) RBC too much for game Crimson Knights in 5-0 loss
The Knights came out tough nearly scoring in the opening minutes. But RBC weathered the storm and righted the ship in wearing down a 'shortened' bench. Two quick tallies to end the first period hurt Wall. In the 2nd and 3rd frames, several more unanswered goals for The Caseys put them up 5-0. Nonetheless a very game effort by the Crimson Knights.

Saturday, December 11
(V) Wall overwhelms Monroe 9-3 in season opener...
Wall responded to Monroe's quick 1st period tally 13 seconds in with 8 unanswered to set the course straight with a solid 9-3 win. Netters were O'Keefe (4G, 1A), Zoller (2G, 1A),  Calabro, O'Connor and Corso. Assists were garnered along the way by O'Connor, Wuestneck, McCarthy, Calabro, Diaz, Ramsden, and Zoller. Wall's next opponent is a travel affair against highly touted RBC at the 'pristine' Red Bank Armory. Come cheer your players BUT as always, please be on best behavior as guests ... ;-)
