The Knights have played their final game of the 2008-9 season and finished with an overall record of 18-7-1.
The Shore conference tournament saw the Knights take on Howell for the second time this season for the tournament final game. The Knight's came out skating hard and were rewarded with a 3 - 1 lead for their efforts. Howell picked up the pace in the second period and pulled even with Wall. The Knights pulled ahead at the end of the second but he third was all Howell with the Rebels notching 4 goals to 1 for Wall. Knights goals were as follows: Gabuzda 3, Frank Stagliano 2 and 1 each for Tyler Corso and Vin Stagliano. Howell was the only team to beat Wall twice this season.
Next up was the State Tournament with the Knights (seeeded 14th) hosting Summit (19 seed) on March 3rd. Summit came out skating and hitting hard and quickly demonstrated they would not go home without a battle and led Wall 2 - 0 and the end of period 1. The second period saw the Knights turn up the heat and out skate and hit Summit. Rewards followed with goals by Rob Colabro and defensemen Brett Whelan. The third began with the teams tied at two each when Whelan again scored from the blue line. Two back to back questionable penalties left the Knights at a 5 to 3 man dissadvantage and Summit scored again to pull even on the score. Then came an intense overtime with many scoring opportunities for the Knights but no finishes. Then once again a penalty on Wall gave Summit the advantage and one minute into the penalty the Knight's season ended abruptly. For the players, coaches and fans it was a shocking end as the Knights were clearly the dominate team for the last two periods. Last years third round state run would not be repeated.
Good luck next year to the Knights who hopefully will be anchored by now veterans Vin Stagliano, Kevin Entwistle, Jack Gabuzda, Dan O'Keefe, Ryan Dahms, Zach Zoller, Kurt Stohrer, Pat Bruno, and Brian Cohen.
