Welcome to the home of the Wall High School Ice Hockey Team

Varsity News: Both Toms River South and Wall were expecting the game to be an evenly matched one. And surely it was, with both squads playing physical yet smart hockey, while going at it tooth-and-nail all over the sheet. Five minutes into the 1st had The Knights stoned by The Indians tender on a 2-on-1 rush. Minutes later saw The Indians held off on a big right pad save by The Knights Klahre. But a 3-games-in-4-nights stint would have Toms River a step quicker when they drew first blood on a power-play tally with under 2 minutes remaining to close the period with a 1-0 lead. The Knights slowly regained their legs and put together some decent attacks, nearly tying the contest, but the Toms River netminder held firm making 4 strong saves to preserve their lead. At the 5:36 tic, The Knights took advantage after being awarded a power-play, when Gabuzda (2G, 1A) grabbed a free neutral zone puck, rushed into the zone and snapped a pretty roofer for the tie. The period then played out evenly until Toms River gained the offensive zone and saw a point shot find the back of the net with under 12 seconds in the period to regain the lead. After the ice cut, and with both squads re-energized, the game's tempo suddenly upped a notch. The Indians scored a minute into the session off a shot and rebound tuck to regain momentum. But The Knights fought back with a goal at the 8:41 mark on a Stagliano deposit off a pretty assist from Entwhistle (1G, 1A) to cut their deficit in half at 3-2. Still. Toms River refused to cave in notching another goal 3 minutes later to recapture the 2-goal lead. Wall wasn't quite done though and struck back with 2:34 on the clock on a power-play score by Entwhistle off a nifty Gabuzda pass to again fall 1 back on the scoreboard. With The Knights now pressing the attach, and The Indians goaltender fully under siege, Wall would tie the contest on a tic-tak-toe Gabuzda bullet garnering Fitch and Panico assists to close out the hard-fought contest at 4-4. The Knights look to grab some rest before taking on Pt. Pleasant at home on Dec 23rd at 7pm. See you there!
