Walled Lake Northern Basketball: Welcome

Tryouts and Info

Good afternoon players and parents,
 State of the Kingdom
It's a great day to be a Knight
Well we are off and running into our comepetition portion of our schedule.  In the first week of the season the Varsity Knights took 2 tough losses to a very big Farmington Harrison team and a very talented and hot shooting 3-0 Livonia Churchill team.  The guys competed extremely hard and putting a great basketball product on the court that we can all be proud of.  Our team defense is doing a great job keeping our energy up.  We had a tough loss on Friday night when Bobby Iaquaniello went down with a knee injury.  Bobby is going to continue to be a huge part of the team and has vowed to be a leader on the bench the rest of the season.
The JV Knights had 2 impressive wins this week with every guys on the team contributing to the cause.  Whether its diving on the floor for a loose ball, knocking down a shot or getting us into the offense.  The guys have really taken a hold of their roles and hopefully will continue to develope.  This is the second year that these guys have committed to our pressing defense and it is the fuel that gets these guys going.
The Freshman Knights are also off to a 2-0 start thanks to the committment that they have all had to learning the new system that we employ here at Northern.  Every guy on the team has been getting better and they are doing a great job of pushing each other to the next level.
We play 2 more games this week as we host Milford on Monday for the JV and Freshman teams with start times at 5:30 and 7 PM respectively.  The Varsity plays at 7 PM on Tuesday as the second half of a double header with the 2 - 1 Varsity Lady Knights.  Please come and support the girls team and get two games for the price of 1.  On Thursday we are traveling to Hartland to take on the Eagles.  Standard triple header of 4, 5:30 and 7 PM at Hartland High School.
Also some great news for the holiday.  Based on where the holidays fall, we are going to give the guys December 23rd, 24th and 25th off as well as 31st and January 1st.  This is great news because in the past we had practiced on the 23rd, but since our Tournament isn't until the 29th and 30th, we feel that we can take the extra time.  All details for the holiday tournament will follow.
I want to sincerely thank everyone again for a great start to the season and all the volunteering that everyone has done.  Spirit wear is here earlier than ever and everyone had their shooting shirts and practice jerseys quicker than ever.
