Good Afternoon Players and Parents:
 State of the Kingdom
It's a great day to be a Knight

Welcome back to school for the 2016/17 school year. We are at the ;midway point of fall sports and ready to begin our fall basketball conditioning and open gym schedule. We will be conditioning right after school from 2:45-3:45 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday's starting on 9/26. Open gyms will be on 9/29, 10,4, 10/11 and 10/18 from 6 - 8 PM. Everyone not playing a fall sport is encouraged to be at all conditioning and open gyms. The goal is that everyone enters the basketball season in the best conditioning possible. If you play a fall sport and plan on attending anything, I will need permission from your fall coach. During basketball, I will expect full commitment and during your other sports seasons, I'm sure your coaches will expect the same thing. We are very well represented in other sports throughout our school and I full support your participation in those sports.

I am excited and pleased to announce the hiring of two new coaches into our program. Pete Rabaut and Tim Baglow have agreed to coach the freshman team this year. Both coach's have many years of varsity level experience in various sports and both return to the basketball program after many years away. Both coaches are also teachers in the English department and gives our program a strong presence in the school. Welcome aboard Mr. Rabaut and Mr. Baglow. We did lose last years JV coach Jon Djokaj to become the head varsity coach at Livonia Franklin. Coach Ryan Negoshian will take over the JV coaching/ Varsity assistant job and Brian Pazolka will remain the JV assistant. Coach Rennie and Coach Smith will be back to assist the varsity as well.

Yesterday on 9/21 our booster club had their first open meeting of the school year. In the meeting we discussed the hiring of the new coaches, sponsor/fundraising, upcoming dates and open positions on the booster board, Important dates to be aware of are: next booster meeting 10/17, bowling fundraiser 11/6 and first day of tryouts on 11/14. The V.P. position on the booster board is immediately open and the President and Treasure positions are also open to be transitioned with current President and Treasures Michelle Millikan and Kris Gersabeck. Please consider stepping into these roles. The booster club is a vital part of our program with the organization of events and raising funds to support the basketball program. If anyone is interested in any of these positions please contact Michelle Millikan. We will also be looking for someone to be in charge of concessions for the season. I would also like to give a big thank you to Christy Iaquaniello for her time as the V.P. of the booster board. She stepped down with her son being a senior this year and other family commitments, but she has assured all of us that she will still be very involved.

There will be more emails from myself and Michelle Millikan, discussing all of the dates and preparation needed for the upcoming season. There is a ton of excitement around our basketball program going into this season for a lot of reasons. Our biggest obstacle just like any other year is that we come together as program. That means from players, to coaches, to parents, to administrators. The more unified we are on and off the court, the more enjoyable this season will be for the players. Let's remember this is about the guys that are putting in a lot of effort and sacrifice to represent their school. For the players, its now time for us to continue preparing for the season. If you aren't playing a fall sport, be in the weight room, on the track and in the gym. You won't get this time back. Tryouts will start on 11/14 and at that time, November is going to ask "what did you do from April - November to get ready?"

Thank you and I look forward to another great season of Knight Basketball.
