It's a great day to be a Knight

After taking a few days to recover from a very tough district loss on Wednesday, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone associated with the Walled Lake Northern Basketball Family.  All three levels combined to win 70 % of our games.  We implemented a new offensive system that created a lot of scoring opportunities and discipline into our program.  Defense is still the cornerstone of how hard we play.  I was proud at the effort game in and game out and the attitudes were tremendous.  This is a program that we can all be proud of and with the depth in the program, I can see many seasons of continued success. Again thank you to all parents, players, administration and coaches... it takes all to make a successful program.

I want to remind everyone that we are 7 days until our banquet at Beacon Hill Country Club at 6011 Majestic Oaks Drive, Commerce, MI 48382.  This is a great opportunity to sit back and celebrate our season.  Basketball is the longest season by far and it is great to spend an evening honoring the commitment and effort put in by our athletes.

For those athletes that will start their spring seasons this week, we wish them the best and support them in everything that they do.  For those not playing a spring sport, we will start weight training and open gyms in the beginning of April.  We will also once again compete from June 17 - July 2nd at various team camps (schedule to follow) and we will also do the Huron Valley JV league.  If we have enough interest from the JV guys, we may also go to a team camp.  Everyone in the program will get first opportunity to compete in the summer leagues and camps.  In July and August we will continue to skill train and play open gyms.

Lastly I want to remind everyone that we are still in need of someone to step up to be part of the booster board as President and Treasurer.  Michelle and Kris have served the previous 3 years and the program wouldn't be where it is without their time and leadership.  Please consider stepping up to the board so that we can continue to operate as is.  If we have to put the funds back into the school account, we won't have as much freedom to cut checks for events that we do for the players.  We work hard as a program to raise the money and we want to make sure we can use that money on items that we want to, when we want to.

Again thank you to all for a great, positive basketball season.  As much as we succeeded on the court, we succeeded just as much off the court.  I had a great opportunity to talk to most of you this year and the feedback was very positive and encouraging.  I believe this is why we were so good on the court  It goes a long way to the players success when they go home and everyone is proud of the growth and success of the program as a whole.   I look forward to seeing you all at the banquet and celebrating our great season.
