CAV Officers/Directors pass on JO's to Rob Rhodes

To all Charlottesville Area Volleyball Club members:

After eight years of service as officers and directors of the Charlottesville Area Volleyball Club, founders Brent Wilson, Mike Koch, and Lance Rogers are bowing out and passing the baton to Robert Rhodes. The change is scheduled for July 1, 2011.  Robert brings a lot of volleyball experience to the task, both as a coach and player, and has tremendous enthusiasm and energy. We are sure Robert will continue to grow club volleyball in central Virginia and will advance the same goals of teaching volleyball skills, promoting sportsmanship, inspiring a love of the game, and developing good work habits and fitness.  Robert is in his fourth year of coaching Junior Olympics. He began his career as an assistant on the CAVC 18's team in 2007 and has since served as the head coach of teams in the 14's, 16's and 18's age groups. In 2009, he was an assistant volleyball coach at Waynesboro High School and in 2010 he served as a volunteer assistant with the UVA Varsity team. He is the director of the Rhodes Summer Volleyball Academy, is on the coaching staff at the UVA volleyball camps, and is CAP I certified by USA Volleyball. He graduated from UVA where he played on the men's club volleyball squad.
Please join us in supporting Rob as he works to take the club into the future.

Weather Policy for Practice-REMINDER!!

CAV will make every effort to update this site as soon as practice is cancelled. Below is the policy from Albemarle Co that we follow. Hopefully coaches will e-mail their teams when their practices are cancelled. If you have questions, e-mail your coach or CAV. If practice is on but you don't feel safe to come out, just e-mail your coach and let him know. Thanks and be safe!!!!

The Albemarle County rule is that if schools close early or
are cancelled, then all activities at the school are cancelled also and therefore CAVC will NOT practice. However, if we have a delayed opening, everything is still on. On weekends, the club can make the call for ourselves unless the schools cancel their weekend activities, such as basketball games. Contact your team coach to see if practice is on during a weekend.
972-4020 is the Albemarle Sports Hotline to check status
Check the link to Channel 29 to see if Albemarle Schools closed early or are closed.
