2008 Senior Baseball Southern Regional Tournament Information

9/10 Softball - Second Consecutive State Championship!
9/10 Softball finished pool play in the State tournament with a 3-0 record, advanced and won in the semi-finals on Sunday and on Monday won VSLL's second consecutive 9/10 Softball Florida State Championship.

Viera Suntree Juniors Baseball wins Sectionals and advances to the State Championship this weekend in Apopka.

Congratulations to Kevin Trainor, 2008 International Good Sport of the Year
The Board of County Commissioners are honoring Kevin Trainor with a resolution on July 29 at 9AM in Bldg C in Viera (Board Chambers). Back in May, Kevin Trainor of the Majors baseball Diamondbacks was named the 2008 Viera Suntree Little League overall sportsmanship award winner.
Today, we were notified that Kevin has been selected as the 2008 Little League Good Sport of the Year recipient by Little League International in Williamsport, PA. Kevin was chosen over every other candidate from every other Little League ... not only in our District, or our State, or our country, but in the world!!!
Kevin and his family will be Little League's guests at the 2008 Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. We can't wait to see Kevin and his family on ESPN in August.
Way to go Kevin. You have made all of us in VSLL proud.

VSLL Sportsmanship Award Winners
The winners of the 3rd annual VSLL Sportsmanship Awards were announced on Saturday, May 17th. Each team in the kid pitch, Majors and Juniors divisions selected a team winner. From each division's team winners, a division winner was selected. An overall VSLL winner was selected from the division winners. Congratulations to the following Viera Suntree Little League Sportmanship winners!

Challenger Division
The Challenger division began play in Spring 2007, with great success, and continues in 2008. Little League's Challenger division is designed for players ages 5-18 with mental and/or physical disabilities. During Challenger games, all players are matched up with a "buddy" that helps them around the field and offers them support. Players from our Majors divisions (baseball and softball) will be scheduled to act as buddies during Challenger games. This is a great opportunity for all involved.
