ANGLE OF APPROACH

DRILL DESCRIPTION: The hitter should line up on the opposite side of the net at least 3-5 feet to either side of the blocker. The hitter then makes his or her approach and the blocker must slide over, and time their jump with the hitter’s. This will work on lateral movement and timing against a live opponent. Blocker needs to watch the hitters angle of approach as this will tell a lot about where the ball is going. Throw in some volleyballs and a setter to give this drill a real-game feel.
