Vestal Little League is a non-profit organization whose mission is to "promote, develop, supervise, and voluntarily assist in all lawful ways, the interest of those who will participate in Little League Baseball."

Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, the Little League program assists children in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. By espousing the virtues of character, courage and loyalty, the Vestal Little League Baseball program is designed to develop superior citizens rather than superior athletes.

 Major League Redraft Implementation

Consistent with the direction of Little League International, and the trend of many Little Leagues throughout the country, Vestal Little League utilizes a "re-draft" each season in the Major League. Players in Majors do not remain with the same team from year to year; rather each year players will be selected to a new team the following season in an effort to maintain parity among the league teams. Once a player is drafted on a Major League team, he or she will remain in the Majors but will be selected on a different team the following season. Those 10, 11 and 12 year old players not on a Major League team will tryout as in the past and are eligible to be drafted after existing players are selected.

The many benefits to a "re-draft" system include:

  • Opportunity for Players to learn from more than one coach and consequently play new positions
  • Opportunity for Players to be teammates with a wide variety of other players
  • Avoiding incompatible player-coach situations; in the rare occasions where a player and coach "don't click", the situation will not be prolonged in future seasons
  • Easier for League to expand and contract teams based on number of registrants (which varies from year to year)
  • Eliminate the tendency of 11 year old players to be overlooked in the draft; motivation to assemble a team for the present, as opposed to the future
  • MOST IMPORTANTLY, IT DEVELOPS PARITY AMONG THE LEAGUE (In the past we have had two teams with less than 4 wins and another that won almost all of their games)

Little League International Announces Bat Rule Changes for 2012 Season

By Communications Division
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.
November 2, 2011

In an effort to provide timely information on bat rules, Little League International today announced the bat specifications and standards for the 2012 season.

Here are the highlights, followed by the actual text of the 2012 baseball bat rules:

  • For the Little League Major Baseball Division and below: The moratorium on composite-barreled baseball bats remains in effect. However, some composite-barreled baseball bats that have been proven in laboratory testing to meet the BPF (Bat Performance Factor) standard throughout the life of the bat, through the Accelerated Break-In (ABI) process, have received waivers. That list is here: Licensed/Approved Composite 2 1/4 Bats.

 Vestal Little League Auxiliary

Please consider joining the Vestal Little League Auxiliary. For starters, our members help operate the Concession Stand at Angelo Field, organize Picture Day, and plan the End-of-the-Season Banquet. We have traditionally had a great group of moms and dads to help make all of our jobs easier.

Each Team Manager will be looking for a Team Parent to help with team communication. The Team Parent will collect required paperwork for the Manager and communicate important team and league information. The Team Parent will be responsible for scheduling parents to work in the Concession Stand. If you are interested in becoming a Team Parent, please contact your Team Manager.

Every parent in Majors and Minors is required by the League to work at least once, sometimes twice, in the concession stand during the season.

Other Volunteer Opportunities include Field Clean–Up and preparation, Scorekeepers, Team Sponsors
