UPDATE (February 13, 2012)
**ALL MANAGERS, Please check out the Manager and 1st Aid Training information located under the Manager Information Tab

Dear Parents / Guardians,

Welcome to the home of Visalia American Little League Baseball. As we begin to gear up for the 2012 season we anticipate it will be a special one.  This is our 60th Anniversary year and we will be having a number of special events throughout the season. Our goal as a league is to promote a positive atmosphere that results in a fun, rewarding and positive experience for all of the children in our league.  The key to the success of our league are the volunteers that take the time to serve as team parents, coaches, managers and board members.  Therefore we encourage all of you to reach out to us and find a way to get involved. (This also helps keep our league affordable!)
We are always looking for ways to improve our facilities, our operations and the Little League product we put out for the children to enjoy.  So if you have any ideas or suggestions please don't hesitate to contact us.
We will continue sign-ups for ages 4-6 and 13-16 into February (dates to be announced).
Visalia American offers the most affordable youth baseball registration fees in Visalia!
Ages 4-6     $60
Ages 7-12   $80
Ages 13-16 $90
This year we will be offering divisions for players from ages 4 to 16 (see details below). This year we will also be holding tryouts for Rookies (7-8), Minors (9-10) and Majors (11-12) in January and Junior/Seniors (13-16) in February (players may be drafted up into the next division with parent consent..i.e. 10's into majors and 8's into minors).  We are also working to implement a 50/70 supplemental league for major players interested in gaining experience on the larger diamond in preparation for Junior High baseball.
If you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to reach out to myself or another board member.
Sincerely,
Rodney M. Blaco
2012 Visalia American Little League President

 2012 Visalia American Divisions

Tryouts will only be held for Rookies through Juniors/Seniors (Ages 7-14).

1.     A (T-Ball): Ages 4-5

2.     AA (Coach Pitch).  Ages 5-6 (7 year olds who have not played before).  This will be coach pitch for the majority of the season and then the players will transition to the pitcher position from a 38 foot flat pitcher’s mound for the last few games.  There will be a set number of pitchers a player can throw per batter. The details are being finalized and will be available later this winter.

3.     Rookies (AAA): Ages 7-8 (9 year olds who have not played before). There will be a maximum number of pitchers per batter. Score will be kept and at the end of the season the top ½ of the league will play in a tournament and the lower ½ of league will play in a year end tournament.  (6 year olds who have played a year of AA Ball or have demonstrated skills to play safely in Rookies may be in some circumstances be allowed to move up).

4.     Minors : Ages 9-10 (11 year olds who have not played before). The division rules will be the same as in prior years. (7 and 8 year olds who already have a year of Rookies may be allowed to move up is they have demonstrated skills to play safely at this level.)

5.     Majors: Ages 11-12. The division rules will be the same as in prior years.  (10 year olds will be allowed to move up only if parents have been fully informed of ramifications of the decision and the board approves the move in a rare instance an exceptionally skilled 9 year may be allowed ot move up.).

6.    Juniors/Seniors: Ages 13-16. The division will follow Little League standards for this age group which is basically the same as majors with the following changes: Players can lead off, batters can run on dropped 3rd strike and pitchers can pick off base runners.

Volunteer Hour Requirements. Clarification and details.

Visalia American Little League is a completely volunteer driven organization. Those individuals spending hours working registration, upgrading fields, doing data entry, ordering jerseys, etc. are all donating their time to make sure that the Visalia American Little League experience is great for EVERY child in the league.  As part of spreading the heavy work load involved in operating the league, running the snack bar and umpiring games, our league requires every family to volunteer a set number of hours.  Some of you were told inaccurate information on how the hours are calculated at registration due to communication breakdowns, here is some clarifcation:

1. Volunteer hours are based on your oldest child's age (so you don't have extra hours for each child.)

2. You can opt out of the 2012 volunteer requirements by paying a one-time $25.00 fee. (Again this is per family unit and NOT per child.)

3. All-star participation cannot be impacted per Little League rules by failing to complete volunteer hours. (Something we just learned as well.)

4. Your child's team MAY forfiet games if you fail to show up for your scheduled volunteer duties.

5. These volunteer hours are for the benefit of the league as a whole.

6. Managers' families don't have the required hours as they already donating significant time and each manager will be umpiring 2 games behind the plate. (This is also to give managers the experience of umpiring a game and provide a point of reference for them in their understanding of the plate umpire's role and job difficulty.)

7. If you have questions please don't hestitate to contact us.
