Charlottesville Goes to NSA

First I want to thank all the teams, parents and players that supported VPS for the past two years. We were able to bring very successful tournaments to Charlottesville, something that had not been there before,  and we don't want that to end. So what we have done is turn over our tournaments to the only director that we felt could continue what we started. Allan Spencer with NSA will be hosting the same quality tournaments that we began just 2 years ago. Allan along with the help of our family will hold three top level tournaments in 2009. With your support Charlottesville and Albemarle will continue to grow as a top spot for travel teams around the state to come play.

The following is our 2009 Charlottesville Schedule:

  • Mountain Fever Showdown - April 18th & 19th
  • NSA Cash Bash - May 16th & 17th
  • Indian Summer Blast II - October 3rd & 4th

Please visit the NSA website to signup at www.playnsa.com . You can also contact Allan at RichmondNSA@aol.com or myself at Ken@Virginiaponysoftball.com

Thank you,

Ken McCabe

Another great tournament held in beautiful Charlottesville Va.- Check out the winners

Thank you to all that participated in the Charlottesville Invitational. Despite the storm/rain delays we were able to get it all in. I want to thank those that helped to pull this off, Kevin Beyer, Margaret McCabe and the Charlottesville Parks & Rec Department. I also want to thank my daughter Jessica for designing such an awsome t-shirt. We ran out quick and will be placing another order for those that still want one.

Please visit the Charlottesville Invitational Tournament links to the left to see Pool Play game scores and also to see who finished where. All of the teams played great and we saw some great softball.

The pictures have been loaded in the Trophie Winners link to the left.

Once again thank all of you for another successful Charlottesville Tournament.

MOUNTAIN FEVER SHOWDOWN HAS SUCCESS IN CHARLOTTESVILLE

My familiy and I want to say thanks all of the teams, coaches, parents, fans, umpires, parks & rec personel, PVCC, St. Anne's-Bellfield School & especially the young ladies that made up these awsome teams. I also want to thank Anne Powell along with the Albemarle Redbirds for helping out both prior to and during this event. Without Anne, we couldn't have pulled this off. Another big thanks goes to Kevin Beyer & Greg and Stacey Jones for being field directors at the different fields around Charlottesville. And to all of the others that helped make this the most successful PONY softball tournament the area has ever seen.

Thank you all and we'll see you again in June & October.

Indian Summer Blast Lives Up to its Name
RBI Inferno Blue-Runner up
RBI Inferno Blue 12U Runner Up

Congratulations to all of the teams in both the 12U & 14U age level. The heat this weekend was just like playing in July. I want to give special congratulations to the following teams for having such a great weekend.

At the 12U single day tournament each team went 1-1 in pool play and then it was narrowed to the New Kent Blast & RBI Inferno-Blue. The Blast took the early lead and it looked to be ending early, but the Blue never gave up. They fought back in what turned out to be a hitting dual between these two young teams. The final score was 15-12 with the Blast finishing as they started.

At the 14U Double elimination tournament it was quite a story. The top three seeded teams battled all day on Sunday and finished in the order they seeded on Saturday. The Chicks started strong but fell in to the looser bracket early and fought their way thru playing 5 games straight and finishing a strong 3rd. The Diamonds & the Titans were left to battle it out and quite a battle it was. The Titans jumped on top quick, but were soon overcome by the strong bats of the Diamonds. The Diamonds finished the game with a impressive victory. This sent it to the IF GAME. Once again both teams took the field and things quickly went the Titans way. The Titans took a couple of innings to get the bats going, but going they did. They finished in a strong fashion and brought home the Championship. Hat's off to both of these fine teams for their sportsmanship and fine play.
