VICTORS LOSE D-10 SEMI-FINAL TO SLIPPERY ROCK IN OT 4-3
In a game decided by referees, the Victors scored first at the 21:11 mark of the first period when Amanda Lewis finished a pass from Nicole Patsy. That score held until the Rockets scored with 6:16 reamining in the first half. The Rockets scored again at 38:38 of the second half to take a 2-1 lead. The Rockets tied it again at 13:33. With the score tied at 3-3 the game moved into sudden death overtime. That's when the refs took over the game. With 5 minutes remaining in OT Nicole Patsy lofted a shot over the keeper's hands into the side net for the win, but the refs called it a no goal that it did not cross the line - unfortunately the ref wasn't even in position to make the call. Then with 19 seconds left in the first OT the ref called the Victors for a hand ball when he mistook the keepers hand as one of the defensive players. Slippery Rock made the PK and the game was history, but the memory of the poor officiating will linger on a lot longer than the memory of the game.
If you see the referee crew form the Meadville Chapter (Ian Rogers, Jeff Saintz and Dennis Charlton) be sure and tell them what a great job they didn't do!!!

VICTORS DROP THE "ROCK" 3-1 IN THE D10 SEMI-FINALS
Playing for the first time in Edinboro's stadium, Villa met Slippery Rock for a repeat of last year's semi-final game. The Victors came out in a fog in the first 20 minutes - either because it was Halloween or because to quote the Fairview Coach "Villa can't play on a big field". They allowed Slippery Rock a couple of decent offensive runs even allowing them to score on a misplayed ball in the box. After that score the Victors woke up and realized it was time to play. With 11 minutes remaining in the first half Amanda Lewis, took a pass from Ashley Covatto, and beat the keeper to tie the score. The Victors kept the offensive pressure on the Rock, forcing them to pack the box. With 8 seconds remaining in the first half Christina Duris, with an assist from Katherine Hoffman, slotted a slow roller underneath the diving keeper to put the Victors ahead for good. The second half saw the Victors continiually attacking the Slippery Rock goal. The Rock was limited to 2 shots on goal in the whole second half. The Slippery Rock keeper kept her team in the game by making 22 second half saves. With 19 minutes remaining the Lewis-Covatto tandem resulted in another score when Lewis headed in a Covatto corner kick. With the 3-1 victory the Victors will face Fairview on Saturday at 4pm at Harborcreek for the D-10 Championship. This win also guaranteed the Victors will play in the first round of Inter-Districts starting on November 6th.
