"The 2008 Minor All-Star team from VMLL was not expected to go far in the standings this year as past history would indicate. However, for the first time in over 20 years a VMLL Minor All Star team made it past the first round of playoffs playing a total of 5 games! This team came together with fantastic players that love the game and worked hard to do their best at every turn. The temperature reached above 115 degrees during a game and they still came together to prove that VMLL baseball is on the rise. There were numerous occasions of greatness during the games from the players. One of the most memorable moments was when Cale Houk hit his first "OVER THE FENCE" homerun in center field. I am sure, that this is just the first of many for Cale and look forward to seeing him bat next season. The younger players on the team showed that age is not a factor in baseball this year, the older players were fantastic leaders that helped create a winning team and the coaching staff came together to bring out the best in all the players. Overall, it is with great honor that I was able to Manage the 2008 All-Star team this year and I can say without a doubt that the managers for Minor & Major teams next year have some amazing talent coming their way!
