Vikings Host Beavercreek in Dual Meet Feb 11
Miamisburg will host Beavercreek in a dual meet this Thursday February 11 at Miamisburg High School. It will also be Senior Night where the team's 10 seniors will be recognized. Junior Varsity take the mat at 5:00 followed by the Varsity at 7:00.
Regan & Fayette GWOC Champions, Vikings Place 3rd
The Miamisburg Varsity Team competed in the Greater Western Ohio Conference championships at Fairmont High School after a two day delay due to snow. Seniors Tyler Regan (119) and Shawn Fayette (135) were individual champions for the team. It was Regan's second consecutive GWOC title. Fayette became the first four time GWOC champion and was voted Wrestler of the Year in the GWOC South Division. For the first time in 7 years the Vikings were not league champions (3 MML, 3 GWOC). Miamisburg placed third with two individual champions as well as six other placers (Jordan Branham 2nd at 103, Dylan DeWeese 3rd at 140, Dylan Ewing 3rd at 145, Luke Williamson 4th at 125, Calob Perkins 6th at 130, Josh Trimbach 6th at 189). Vikings Crush Hamilton, Lose to Lakota West
The Miamisburg Varsity Team took part in a tri-meet with Lakota West and Hamilton at Lakota West High School January 30. The Vikings first faced Hamilton and won 54-18 winning all 8 matches wrestled. Hamilton scored all 18 of its points on 3 Miamisburg forfeits. Miamisburg then faced Lakota West and lost 40-9. Winning both of their matches were Tyler Regan (119) and Luke Williamson (125). Miamisburg JV Place 10th at Butler JV Invitational
The Miamisburg Junior Varsity squad placed 10th out of 24 teams at the Butler JV Invitational at Vandalia Butler High School on January 30. Nick Long (2nd at 103) was the Vikings lone individual placer. Click here to see all of the results from the Butler JV Invitational.
Miamisburg Drops Pair of Duals to Greenville & Fairfield
Miamisburg hosted Greenville and Fairfield in a tri-meet January 27 at Miamisburg High School. The Vikings squared off against Greenville first and lost 30-27. Miamisburg then faced Fairfield and lost 46-18. Winning both of their matches were Tyler Regan (119) and Shawn Fayette (140). Click here for individual match results.
Varsity B Team - Wyoming Duals Champions!
The Miamisburg Varsity B Team won the Wyoming Duals at Wyoming High School in Cincinnati on January 23. The Vikings opened with a bye in the first round followed by a 66-6 win over Finneytown in the second round. Miamisburg then beat CNE 66-18 in the third round, Withrow 50-27 in the fourth round and Norwood 30-24 in the fifth round. Varsity Loses to Fairmont
The Miamisburg Varsity team traveled to Fairmont High School to take on the Firebirds in a dual meet on January 21. Fairmont prevaled winning 36-24 and beating Miamisburg for the first time in many years. Winning matches for the Vikings were Jordan Branham (103), Tyler Regan (119), Bobby Erhard (130), Shawn Fayette (140), Dylan Ewing (152) and Chris Miskell (160). Colston 1st, Kersey 4th at Buckeye Classic!
The Miamisburg Freshmen Team competed in the 32 team Buckeye Classic freshmen tournament at Centerville High School January 15 and 16. Tyler Colston was the 145 lb Champion for Miamisburg. Robert Kersey placed 4th in the 152 lb weight class for the Vikings. Miamisburg placed 13th as a team with only 5 wrestlers competing. Click here to see all of the results from the Buckeye Classic.
Vikings Drop Dual to Centerville 37-31
Miamisburg hosted the Centerville Elks in a dual meet on January 6 at Miamisburg High School. Both teams moved wrestlers around to different weight classes to try to gain an advantage to earn every additional team point possible. Unfortunately for the Vikings, everything seemed to go Centerville's way and the Elks won 37-31. The meet was still undecided going into the last match of the evening. This was Centerville's first dual meet win over Miamisburg in the four years since the Vikings joined the GWOC. Winning matches for Miamisburg were Jordan Branham (103), Tyler Regan (119), Luke Williamson (125), Dylan DeWeese (140), Shawn Fayette (145) and Josh Trimbach (189). Vikings Win Porter Memorial Tournament!
The Miamisburg varsity squad won the Porter Memorial Tournament at Hilliard Bradley High School on January 9. Miamisburg lead the tournament start to finish holding off second place Teays Valley and third place Olentangy. Leading the way for the Vikings were individual champions Tyler Regan (119) and Shawn Fayette (140). Also placing for Miamisburg were Jordan Branham (2nd at 103), Luke Williamson (2nd at 125), Bobby Erhard (2nd at 130), Dylan Ewing (2nd at 152), Brandon Burchfield (2nd at 171), Josh Trimbach (3rd at 189) and Dylan DeWeese (4th at 145).
Regan & Fayette 3rd, Branham 4th, Williamson & Ewing 8th at GMVWA Holiday Invitiational
The Miamisburg Varsity Team placed 5th in the large school division and 6th overall out of 48 teams at the 2009 Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association Holiday Tournament held December 29 and 30 at Vandalia Butler High School. The Vikings were the highest placing team from the Dayton area. Leading the way for Miamisburg were Tyler Regan (3rd at 119), Shawn Fayette (3rd at 140), Jordan Branham (4th at 103), Luke Williamson (8th at 125) and Dylan Ewing (8th at 152). Regan and Fayette both faced defending state champions in their semifinal matches (Fayette losing 3-2 in the last 10 seconds of the match). Miamisburg Wins Preble Shawnee JV Invitational!
The Miamisburg Junior Varsity squad won the 19-team Preble Shawnee JV Invitational edging out second place Moeller 202 to 197 on December 19. The Vikings had 3 individual Champions with Daniel Miracle (130), Sterling Paulson (171) and Brandon Burchfield (189). Miamisburg had 6 other placers with Will Rees (2nd at 112), CJ Regelski (2nd at 140), Robert Kersey (2nd at 152), Dylan Hembree (2nd at 189), Tyler Colston (3rd at 145) and Nick Long (4th at 103). Fayette Repeats as North Canton Champion, Regan Places 2nd!
The Miamisburg Varsity Team travelled to North Canton Hoover High School December 18 and 19 for the 50th North Canton Holiday Wrestling Invitational. With 32 teams in attendance, Miamisburg Senior and State Champion Shawn Fayette was the 140 pound Champion winning his weight class for the second year in a row. Senior and State Qualifier Tyler Regan was the 119 pound runner-up placing 2nd for the second consecutive year. Fayette pinned his first four opponents on his way to the finals before tech falling State Qualifier Dan Kardasz of New Lexington 21-6 to win the Championship. Regan won his first four matches in route to the finals before losing to State Placer Kagan Squire from Wadsworth 9-2 to place 2nd. Fayette Finishes 2-2 at Ironman Tournament
Miamisburg's Shawn Fayette competed in the prestigious Ironman Tournament at Walsh Jesuit High School in Cleveland on December 11 and 12. Fayette opened with a 1:10 pin of Brian Greco of Council Rocks South (PA) followed by a 5:27 pin of Tyler Richards of Parkersburg South (WV). Fayette then lost 7-4 in the quarterfinals against eventual 3rd place finisher Jordan Rich of Central Mountain (PA) followed by an 8-6 loss in to eventual 4th place finisher Nick Pena of Selma (CA). Shawn wrestled well and gained valuable experience for the rest of these season.
Vikings Sweep Quad Meet
The Miamisburg Varsity Team hosted Goshen, Van Wert and Valley View in a quad meet on December 12 at Miamisburg High School. The Vikings opened the meet by beating Goshen 55-21. Miamisburg then bested Van Wert 41-35 before closing out the evening with a 49-27 win over Valley View. Leading the way for the Vikings were Jordan Branham (3-0 at 103), Luke Williamson (3-0 at 119), Bobby Erhard (3-0 at 130), Dylan DeWeese (3-0 at 140), Nick Long (2-1 at 112), Tyler Regan (2-1 at 125), Daniel Miracle (2-1 at 135), Dylan Ewing (2-1 at 152) and Sterling Paulson (2-1 at 171). 4 Freshmen Place at Purcell Marian Tournament
The Miamisburg Freshman Team had 4 placers at the Cavalier Freshman Invitational at Purcell Marian High School on Saturday December 5 in Cincinnati. Tyler Colston placed 1st at 152, Mason Gridley placed 2nd at 119, Robert Kersey placed 2nd at 152 and Gabe Jeunelot placed 3rd at 112. Nice job for there first high school competition. Vikings Place 3rd at Harrison Duals
The Miamisburg Varsity Team placed 3rd at the Harrison Duals Tournament on December 5th at Harrison High School. The Vikings beat East Central 54-21, Vandalia Butler 52-12, and Hamilton 55-24 before losing to Harrison 44-20 to finish second in their pool. Miamisburg then faced Northmont in the third place match and beat the T-Bolts 45-26. Wadsworth dominated the tournament to take first and host Harrison finished second. Leading the way for the Vikings were Tyler Regan (5-0 at 119), Shawn Fayette (5-0 at 140), Dylan Ewing (5-0 at 152), Jordan Branham (4-1 at 103), Nick Long (4-1 at 112), Luke Williamson (4-1 at 125), Bobby Erhard (4-1 at 130), Dylan DeWeese (4-1 at 145), Chris Miskell (3-1 at 160) and Josh Trimbach (2-1 at 189). Fayette Commits to Northern Illinois University

Junior Shawn Fayette became Miamisburg's first ever state champion in 42 years by winning the 130 lb. weight class at the 2009 Ohio State Tournament on March 7. Fayette pinned Medina's Matt Meuer in the first round, decisioned Springboro's Tyler Riegle 4-2 in the quarterfinals, decisioned Massillon Perry's Zach Dailey 4-0 in the semifinals and decisioned Lakota West's Ty Davis 9-4 in the finals. Junior Tyler Regan (112) went 1-2 while Senior Matt Pope (160) went 0-2 at the State Tournament. Miamisburg finished 14th in the team standings.
