The Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association announced it's All-Area Wrestling Teams for the 2007-2008 season and several Miamisburg Wrestlers were included. Making the Division I 1st Team were Luke Williamson (103), Shawn Fayette (125), and Brett Ewing (152). Being named to the 2nd Team were Greg Roeth (119) and Adam Jacobs (130). Receiving Honorable mention were Tyler Regan (112), Jordan Horras (135), and Dylan Ewing (145). Receiving Special mention were Dylan Deweese (140), Matt Pope (160), and Kyle Angel (171).

Miamisburg placed 12th as a team (highest finish ever for Miamisburg) at the 2008 Ohio Division I State Tournament held at the Schottenstein Center on February 28 - March 1, 2008. Shawn Fayette (125 lbs) became Miamisburg's first ever sophomore state placer by placing 2nd, matching the highest ever finish for a Miamisburg wrestler at the State Tournament (Matt Collins 2nd at 171 lbs in 1999). Senior Brett Ewing (152 lbs) became Miamisburg's third two-time state placer by placing 6th. Sophomore Tyler Regan (112 lbs) and senior Greg Roeth (119 lbs) also competed at State. Great job guys!

Miamisburg will send four wrestlers to the State Tournament in Columbus next weekend as all four placed at the Hilliard Darby District Tournament on Febraury 23. Shawn Fayette became Miamisburg's first sophomore District Champion at 125 lbs. by beating Central Crossing's Austin Sanders 4-0. Brett Ewing was 2nd at 152 lbs. with Greg Roeth 3rd at 119 lbs. and Tyler Regan 4th at 112 lbs. Miamisburg placed 3rd as a team for the second year in a row. Great job guys!

Miamisburg won the Sectional Championship for the 3rd time in 4 years on February 16. The Vikings won the Centerville 1 Sectional by 42.5 points over second place Beavercreek. All 14 Miamisburg wrestlers placed and were led by individual champions Shawn Fayette (125), Adam Jacobs (130), and Brett Ewing (152). Other placers for the Vikings were Luke Williamson (2nd at 103), Tyler Regan (2nd at 112), Greg Roeth (2nd at 119), Jordan Horras (2nd at 135), Dylan Ewing (3rd at 145), Matt Pope (3rd at 160), Dylan DeWeese (4th at 145), Kyle Angel (5th at 171), Seth Thomas (5th at 215), Mitch Johnston (6th at 189), and Jordan Baker (6th at 285). Miamisburg will send 10 wrestlers to the Hilliard Darby District Tournament on February 22nd and 23rd.

#1 Miamisburg over #2 Northmont 51-22
The Miamisburg Varsity Team (ranked #1 in the GMVWA) traveled to Northmont High School on February 9 to take on the #2 ranked Northmont Thunderbolts. Sidney and Wayne also participated in the quad meet. Miamisburg jumped out to a 24-0 lead with forfeits for Luke Williamson (103) and Tyler Regan (112) and pins from Greg Roeth (119) and Shawn Fayette (125). Miamisburg's Calob Perkins (130) dropped a close 4-3 decision to Northmont's Jesse Walker to make the score 24-3. The Vikings increased their lead to 30-3 with a pin from Adam Jacobs at 135. The Thunderbolts cut the lead to 30-6 with a 7-5 decision at 140. Miamisburg ran off 21 unanswered points with an 8-4 decision from Dylan Deweese (145), a pin from Brett Ewing (152), a forfeit for Matt Pope (160), and pine from Kyle Angel (171) to take a 51-6 lead. Northmont cut into the lead by scoring the final 16 points of the dual with a forfeit at 189, a major decision at 215, and a forfeit at 285. Miamisburg won the dual 51-22.
The Vikings also beat Sidney 63-6. Miamisburg did not wrestle Wayne.

Junior Varsity Finish Up Season With 7 Placers at JV GWOC!
The Miamisburg Junior Varsity Team traveled to Xenia High School on February 9 to compete in the JV Greater Western Ohio Conference Championships. The Vikings had 7 placers lead by Champions Daniel Miracle (112) and Nathan Wolf (135). Other placers for Miamisburg were John Fontaine (2nd at 103), Nate Hoagland (2nd at 125), Brendon Taylor (2nd at 135), Chris Miskell (2nd at 140), and Lucas Shupert (3rd at 171).
Miamisburg Back on Top of GMVWA Coaches Poll
Miamisburg regained it's #1 ranking in the Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association Coaches' Poll for Division I teams in the Miami Valley as of February 7, 2008 on the strength of their 1st Place finish in the GWOC Championship over Northmont and Beavercreek. The Vikings beat #2 Northmont 51-22 and #9 Springboro 58-7 this season. See the GMVWA poll.
Miamisburg Repeats as GWOC Champs!
The Miamisburg Varsity Team successfully defended it's 2007 Greater Western Ohio Conference Championship by winning the 2008 GWOC Team Championship by 51.5 points over 2nd place Northmont and by 65 points over 3rd place Beavercreek (#1 ranked team in GMVWA coaches poll) at Lebanon High School on February 2. The Vikings had 11 placers including individual champions Luke Williamson (103), Shawn Fayette (125), Adam Jacobs (130), and Brett Ewing (152). Also placing for Miamisburg were Tyler Regan (2nd at 112), Greg Roeth (2nd at 119), Dylan Ewing (3rd at 145), Jordan Horras (4th at 135), Dylan Deweese (4th at 140), Mitch Johnston (4th at 189), and Matt Pope (5th at 160). In two of the most exciting matches of the day, Adam Jacobs (seeded 4th) pinned the #2 seed Gavin Moore of Beavercreek in the semi-finals and pinned the #1 seed Jesse Walker of Northmont in the finals to avenge two earlier season losses. Miamisburg Head Coach Willie Wineberg won the GWOC South Division Coach of the Year Award (5 straight Coach of the Year award). Miamisburg has now one five straight conference titles (MML - 2004, 2005, 2006 and GWOC 2007, 2008).

Viking JV Rolls to Tipp City Red Devil Tournament Championship!
The Miamisburg Junior Varsity Team ran away with the team championship of the 2008 Tipp City Red Devil Tournament held at Tippecanoe High School on February 2 by scoring 114 more points than the 2nd place team (Western Brown). Leading the way for the Vikings were individual champions Daniel Miracle (112), Bobby Erhard (119), Nate Hoagland (125), and Jordan Baker (215). Also placing for Miamisburg were Brendon Taylor (2nd at 135), Lucas Shupert (2nd at 171), Calob Perkins (3rd at 130), Nathan Wolf (3rd at 140), Michael Fontaine (3rd at 189), and John Fontaine (4th at 103).

Vikings' JV Takes 2nd at Vandalia Butler Reserve Tournament
The Miamisburg Junior Varisty Team placed 2nd out of 24 teams at the Vandalia Butler Reserve Tournament on January 26. Leading the way for the Vikings were champions Daniel Miracle (112) and Seth Thomas (189). Also placing for Miamisburg were Nathan Wolf (2nd at 135), Chris Miskell (2nd at 140), Michael Fontaine (2nd at 189), Nate Hoagland (3rd at 125), Bobby Erhard (4th at 119), and Lucas Shupert (4th at 171). Miamisburg Beats DeSales, Loses Big to Graham
The Miamsiburg Freshmen, Junior Varsity, and Varsity Teams traveled to St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus on January 23 to take on DeSales and Graham in a tri-meet. With six starters out of the line-up due to illness, injuries, etc., the Vikings beat DeSales 43-13, however, Graham (#1 team in the country) proved to be too much as the Vikings lost 63-0. JV Places 2nd at Wyoming Duals, 10 JV Place at Sidney Invitational
The Miamisburg Junior Varsity took 2nd at the Wyoming Duals on January 19 at Wyoming High School in Cincinnati. The Vikings beat McNicholas 47-24, Norwood 54-30, and Madeira 45-36 before losing in the finals to New Richmond 40-34.
The Miamisburg JV also had 10 wrestlers place at the Sidney Invitational at Sidney Middle School on January 19. Placing for the Vikings were Brendon Taylor (1st at 135), Tommy Jendruzcak (1st at 171), Chris Miskell (1st at 145 in Pool B), Tyler Manning (2nd at 152), Jordan Baker (2nd at 215), Brandon Burchfield (2nd at 145 in Pool A), Sam McCollum (3rd at 130 in Pool A), Eric Meyers (4th at 119), Heidi Gentis (4th at 125), and Sterling Pauslon (4th at 130 in Pool B).
Miamisburg Beats Greenville 43-18, Loses to Beavercreek 39-30
The Miamisburg Varsity Team hosted Greenville and Beavercreek in a tri-meet at Miamisburg High School on January 16. The Vikings beat Greenville 43-18 with wins from Luke Williamson (103), Tyler Regan (112), Greg Roeth (125), Adam Jacobs (130), Jordan Horras (135), Dylan Ewing (140), Brett Ewing (152), Kyle Angel (171) and Seth Thomas (215). Miamisburg lost to Beavercreek 39-30 with wins from Luke Williamson (103), Tyler Regan (112), Jordan Horras (135), Dylan DeWeese (145), Brett Ewing (152) and Jordan Baker (285).

JV Place 5 at Mason JV Tournament
The Miamisburg Junior Varsity Team traveled to Mason Middle School on January 12 to compete in the Mason JV Tournament. Miamisburg had three champions; Nate Hoagland (125), Calob Perkins (130) and Chris Miskell (145). The Vikings also had two 2nd place finishers; Sam McCollum (130) and Aaron Elliott.
Vikings Win Sycamore Invitational for 3rd Year in a Row!
With only 13 wrestlers in the line-up, the Miamisburg Varsity Team won the 16 team Sycamore Invitational held at Sycamore High School on January 11 and 12 for the third year in a row. Miamisburg won the tournament with 209.5 points, 27.5 more than 2nd place Colerain. Leading the way for the Vikings were individual champions Luke Williamson (103), Shawn Fayette (125), Adam Jacobs (130), and Brett Ewing (152). Also placing for Miamisburg were Matt Pope (2nd at 152), Tyler Regan (3rd at 112), Jordan Horras (3rd at 135), Dylan Ewing (3rd at 140), and Dylan DeWeese (3rd at 145) for a total of 9 placers in the tournament.

Miracle & Erhard Win Buckeye Classic, Burchfield Places 5th!
Miamisburg's Daniel Miracle (112) and Bobby Erhard (119) won the prestigous Buckeye Classic Tournament for freshmen held at Centerville High School on January 11 and 12. Brandon Burchfield (145) also placed 5th for the Vikings. Freshmen from 32 schools throughout Ohio competed in the tournament. The Vikings finished 7th as a team. Great job guys!

Vikings Beat Elks 48-18
Miamisburg hosted Centerville in a dual meet at Miamisburg High School January 9. It was Senior Night and the Vikings recognized six seniors (Greg Roeth, Brett Ewing, Kyle Angel, Lucas Shupert, and Seth Thomas) and their families. Centerville opened up the scoring with a 5-3 decision at 160 to take a 3-0 lead. Miamisburg's Lucas Shupert tied the score with a 1-0 decision at 171 to make it 3-3. The Elks ran off 15 straight points with a pin at 189, at pin at 215, and a 4-2 decision at 285 to take an 18-3 lead. The Vikings slammed the door on Centerville, scoring 45 unanswered points with a pin from Luke Williamson (103), a forfeit for Tyler Regan (112), a pin from Bobby Erhard (119), a 21-6 tech fall from Greg Roeth (125), a 19-3 tech fall from Shawn Fayette (130), a 9-2 decision from Adam Jacabos (135), a 23-8 tech fall from Jordan Horras (140), a 12-5 decision from Dylan Ewing (145), and a pin from Brett Ewing (152). The Miamisburg Freshmen Team placed 5 of 9 wrestlers at the Northwest Freshmen Tournament at Northwest High School in Cincinnati on January 5. Leading the way for the Vikings was 119 lb champion Bobby Erhard who was also tnamed the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler. Other placers for Miamisburg were Daniel Miracle - 2nd at 112, Brandon Burchfield - 2nd at 145, Brendon Taylor - 4th at 135, and Tyler Manning - 4th at 152.

Miamisburg hosted the Lakota West Firebirds and the Marysville Monarchs in a tri-meet at Miamisburg High School on January 5.
In the first dual of the night, Miamisburg opened up a 10-0 lead on a 12-2 major decision from Luke Williamson (103) and a pin from Tyler Regan (112). Lakota West cut the lead to 10-4 with a major decision at 119. Greg Roeth (125) increased the Vikings' lead to 16-4 with a pin. Lakota West scored 7 unanswered points with a decision at 130 and a major decision at 135 to reduce Miamisburg's lead to 16-11 (Miamisburg sophomore Shawn Fayette moved up to 130 and wrestled very well against three time state runner-up Ryan Fields, losing 5-2). In perhaps the most exciting match of the night, Adam Jacobs (wrestling up two weight classes at 140) scored a takedown just as time expired to win a 9-7 decision and increase the Vikings' lead to 19-11. Lakota West picked up six points to make the score 19-17 with a pin at 145. Miamisburg increased it's lead 23-17 with a 18-6 major decision from Brett Ewing (152). The Firebirds ran off 13 unanswered points with a major decision at 160, a decision at 171, and a pin at 189 to take a 30-23 lead. Jordan Baker (215) cut Lakota West's lead to 30-29 with a pin. Miamisburg forfeited the 285 weight class to give Lakota West a 36-29 win.

In the second dual of the night, Marysville won a decision at 145 to take a 3-0 lead. Miamisburg tied the score 3-3 with a 16-10 decision from Brett Ewing (152). The Monarchs ran off 21 straight points with a decisions at 160 and 171, a pin at 189, a decision at 215, and a forfiet at 285 to take a 24-3. The Vikings answered with 10 points on an 11-2 major decsion from Luke Williamson (103) and a forfeit for Tyler Regan (112) cutting Marysville's lead to 24-13. Marysville increased their lead to 27-13 with a decision at 119 before the Vikings shut the door and ran off 16 unaswered points with an 11-2 major decision from Greg Roeth (125), a 19-4 tech fall from Shawn Fayette (130), a 6-5 decision from Jordan Horras (135), and a 14-3 major decision from Adam Jacobs (140) winning the dual 29-27. There was a one point reduction in Miamisburg's team score charged to the coaching staff to make the final 28-27.

JV Places 2nd at Preble Shawnee Tournament
The Miamisburg Junior Varsity Team placed 2nd out of 23 teams with only eleven wrestlers at the Preble Shawnee J.V. Invitational at Preble Shawnee High School on December 22. Eight of eleven Viking wrestlers placed at the tournament including five champions. Placing for Miamisburg were Daniel Miracle - 1st at 112, Bobby Erhard - 1st at 119, Nate Hoagland - 1st at 125, Calob Perkins - 1st at 130, Kyle Angel - 1st at 171, Chris Miskell - 3rd at 140, Seth Thomas - 3rd at 215, and Nathan Wolf - 4th at 135.

The Miamisburg Varsity Team won the large school team title for the second year in a row at the Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association Holiday Tournament held at Vandalia Butler High School December 28 and 29. The Vikings finished second in team points behind overall team and small school champions Graham. Miamisburg trailed on the leaderboard most of the weekend, but pulled ahead to win the large school title by 16.5 points over 2nd place Ryle (Kentucky) with six total individual placers; Brett Ewing - 2nd at 152, Tyler Regan - 3rd at 112, Greg Roeth - 3rd at 119, Shawn Fayette - 3rd at 125, Luke Williamson - 8th at 103, and Matt Pope - 8th at 160.

Viking Finish 5th at North Canton
The Miamisburg Varsity Team finished 4th out of 33 teams at the 48th North Canton Holiday Wrestling Invitational on December 22 at North Canton Hoover High School. The Vikings had 4 wrestlers place with Greg Roeth 2nd at 119, Brett Ewing 2nd at 152, Shawn Fayette 3rd at 125, and Adam Jacobs 4th at 130.

Freshmen Pound Chaminade-Julienne!
The Miamisburg Freshmen Team took on the Chaminade-Julienne Eagles at Chaminade-Julienne High School on December 14. The Vikings sent 10 wrestlers to the mat resulting in 10 pins (9 in the first period) for Miamisburg! Click here to see the individual match results.
Miamisburg Rolls Over Lakota East & Colerain
The Miamisburg Varsity Team traveled to Colerain High School in Cincinnati on December 15 to take on Lakota East and Colerain in a tri-meet. The Vikings rolled over Lakota East 49-18 and pulled away from Colerain to win 41-27.
In the first dual meet of the night Miamisburg faced the Lakota East Thunderhawks. Miamisburg jumped out to a 21-0 lead with a 3-0 decision from Bobby Erhard at 119 and three pins from Greg Roeth at 125, Shawn Fayette at 130, and Jordan Horras at 135. Lakota East cut into the Vikings lead 21-6 with decisions at 140 and 145. Miamisburg added to their lead 31-6 with a 16-5 major decision from Brett Ewing at 152 and a pin from Matt Pope at 160. The Vikings forfeited 171 to cut their lead to 31-12. Mitch Johnston scored a 4-2 decision at 189 to increase Miamisburg's lead to 34-12. Lakota East picked up a pin at 215 to make the score 34-18 before the Vikings scored 15 unanswered points to make the final score 49-18 with pins from Jordan Baker at 285, a forfeit for Luke Williamson at 103, and a 6-4 overtime decision by Tyler Regan at 112.
In the second dual meet, Miamisburg squared off against the Colerain Cardinals. Greg Roeth started off the dual with a pin at 125 for a 6-0 Miamisburg lead. Colerain cut the lead with a close 9-8 decision at 130 to make the score 6-3. The Vikings picked up a forfeit for Jordan Horras at 135 to increase their lead to 12-3. The Cardinals answered with a pin at 140 to make the score 12-9. Miamisburg came right back with 14 team points with a pin from Dylan Ewing at 145, a 18-1 technical fall for Brett Ewing, and a 10-7 decision for Matt Pope at 160 for a 26-9 Viking lead. Colerain took is first lead with 21 straight points with a forfeit at 171, decisions at 189 and 215, and a another forfeit at 285 before Miamisburg ran off 15 unanswered points to win the dual 41-27 with a pin from Luke Williamson at 103, a decision from Tyler Regan at 112, and a pin from Bobby Erhard at 119.

Vikings Place 3rd at Harrison Duals
The Miamisburg Varsity Wrestling Team placed third at the Harrison Duals on Saturday December 8 behind first place Harrison and 2nd place Fairfield in the 10 team dual tournament. Miamisburg was put in a five team pool with Fairfield, Milford, Springboro, and Whiteland (Indiana). While the other five team pool consisted of Harrison, Beech Grove (Indiana), Glen Este, Hamilton, and Marysville. The Vikings opened up with a 58-7 pounding of Springboro highlighted by Miamisburg's Tyler Regan decisioning Springboro State Qualifier Tyler Riegle 5-2 in a tough 112 pound match. Miamisburg beat Whiteland 49-15 in round two. The Vikings then won against Milford 49-15 highlighted by Miamisburg State Qualifier Shawn Fayette majoring Milford State Qualifier Chris Newberry 9-0 in the 130 pound match. In the fourth round to decide the winner of the pool, Miamisburg narrowly lost to a very good Fairfield team 33-31 in a dual that could have gone either way. The Vikings then beat Marysville 51-20 for 3rd place. Freshmen Place 3rd at Purcell Marian Tournament!
With only 8 wrestlers entered in the tournament, the Miamisburg Freshmen Team took third place out of 12 teams behind first place Elder and second place St. Xavier by placing 7 wrestlers. Individual tournament champions for the Vikings were Daniel Miracle (112), Bobby Erhard (119), Brendon Taylor (135), and Brandon Burchfield (145).
