St. John Vianney plated single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to defeat previously unbeaten Freehold Township 2-0 in the 2002 Lady Buc Championship game. The county title is the first for Vianney since a 1996, 2-1 victory over Shore Regional. Jackie Adelfio limited the Patriots to one hit while striking out eleven and walking none. Trish Reingle accounted for the game's first run, scoring Jen Trace after her infield smash was mishandled with two out. Amanda D'Alessio, courtesy running for Jackie Adelfio scored the second run when Lauren Incorvaia's successful sacrifice bunt was thrown into rightfield. The two clubs could be headed for a rematch if both can survive quarterfinal and semifinal round tilts. Vianney improves to 22-3 while Freehold Township falls to 26-1.

St. John Vianney advanced to the Shore Conference Tournament semifinals with a thrilling 1-0 victory over Ocean Township. Freshman Jaime Tupino raced home with the winning run when Tina Philburn's seventh inning grounder was thrown away. Centerfielder Kacie Galbraith threw out the go-ahead run in the fourth inning after Arielle Weinkofsky's single with a runner at second. Galbraith also contributed a critical shoestring catch in the seventh inning. Ocean drops to 18-5 on the season while Vianney improves to 23-3. Third seeded Middletown South will visit Vianney on Friday, May 31 in the semifinals.

St. John Vianney had its first come-from-behind victory of the season, winning 5-2 in a South Jersey Parochial 'A' semi-final round game against Camden Catholic. Trailing 1-0 in the third inning, Jen Trace led off with a single past third base. Lauren Taub followed with a slug bunt that was misplayed, putting runners on first and second. The throw on Jess Vreeland's sacrifice bunt pulled the first baseman off the bag and the bases were loaded for Suzanne Gorczynski. Gorczynski followed with a bomb to centerfield which cleared the bases giving the Lancers a 3-1 lead. Jackie Adelfio won her nineteenth game of the season, sending the Lancers to the South Jersey final for the fourth consecutive season. Vianney will face Red Bank Catholic on Tuesday, June 4 in Delran. Vianney improves to 24-3, setting a new school record for victories.

VIANNEY ADVANCES TO SCT CHAMPIONSHIP

St. John Vianney advanced to the championship game of the 2002 Shore Conference Tournament with a 5-1 victory over Middletown South in Holmdel. The second seeded Lancers posted 11 hits in advancing to its first SCT Final since the 1999 season. Lauren Taub, Jess Vreeland and Trish Reingle each contributed two hits on the day. Jackie Adelfio won her third game in as many days, pitching five innings in picking up her twentieth victory of the season. Vianney will face fourth seeded Pt. Pleasant Boro in the final on June 5th at Brookdale.

VIANNEY ADVANCES TO STATE FINAL ... AGAIN

St. John Vianney advanced to its second consecutive state championship game with a 3-2 victory over Red Bank Catholic in the South Jersey Parochial 'A' Championship in Red Bank. Lauren Taub was 3 for 3 and scored the game's first run on Trish Reingle's two-out single. Jackie Adelfio struck out fourteen including RBC catcher Misty Green to end the game with the tying run on second base. Vianney will face top ranked Immaculate Heart Academy in the Parochial 'A' final at Toms River North on Saturday, June 8th. Vianney improves its record to 26-3 as it faces Pt. Pleasant Boro in the SCT Championship on June 5th.

VIANNEY WINS SCT, FOUR FOR FOUR IN TITLES
2002 SCT TRISH SLIDE
Vianney softball captured its first Shore Conference Championship since 1999 with a 4-0 victory over Pt. Pleasant Boro at Brookdale Community College. Jackie Adelfio fired the shutout for her 22nd win of the year. Jen Trace knocked in the only run Vianney needed with a single on a slug-bunt in the third inning, scoring pinch runner Christina Lenn. Lenn was running for Candice Ruffler who led off the inning with a single. The SCT crown is Vianney's fourth title of the 2002 season, winning division, county and state sectional honors along the way. The Lancers are the only club in Shore Conference softball history to bag four titles in one season and can add a fifth if it can upset top-ranked Immaculate Heart in the state final on Saturday. Vianney now stands with a record of 27-3, a school rcord for victories.

VIANNEY DEFEATS IHA, WINS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND IS #1 IN NJ
St. John Vianney defeated previously undefeated IHA 1-0 to capture its second consecutive NJSIAA state championship in Toms River. With the victory, Vianney also clinched the top spot in both state newspaper polls. Winning pitcher Jackie Adelfio knocked in Jess Vreeland with a one-out basehit in the fourth inning. Adelfio, pitching her final scholastic game struck out eleven while walking only one in the shutout effort. Vianney finished the season 28-3 while IHA falls to 31-1.

Vianney schedule released!
Vianney Softball, last season's top-ranked team in the state of New Jersey has released its schedule for the 2003 season. The Lancers will again face one of the states most challenging schedules as it attempts to defend its championships in division, county and conference play. Vianney is also the reigning champion of the NJSIAA Parochial 'A' Tournament, having won back-to-back championships in 2001 and 2002. A return visit to the prestigious Mt. St. Dominic Invitational is a highlight of the coming campaign. The Lancers are slated to face Immaculate Heart Academy as well as the host school in Caldwell on April 19th. Vianney will also face defending NJSIAA Group 3 state champion Middletown South twice in 2003 as part of the revamped B-North. The Lancers defeated the Eagles in 2002 in the semi-finals of both the Lady Buc and Shore Conference Tournaments. St. John Vianney has secured the most challenging pre-season schedule in program history as Vianney Softball prepares to defend its five championship titles from 2002. The Lancers will face some of the finest programs in the state with pre-season games against West Milford, Cherokee, South Plainfield, Allentown and Hunterdon Central being featured on a 10 game scrimmage schedule. Those contests will be used to prepare for the campaign of 2003 which opens on April 3rd as the Lancers visit Middletown South.

VIANNEY STEALS VICTORY OVER SOUTH

St. John Vianney opened its 2003 season with a thrilling 2-1, eleven inning victory over the Eagles of Middletown South. The Lancers came away with the victory when Kacie Galbraith reached on an eleventh inning fielders choice, stole second and third and scored when the throw to third went into leftfield. Sophomore pitcher Tricia Reingle set a Monmouth County strikeout record, fanning 27 in the complete game effort. Galbraith was 3 for 5 on the day and notched 3 stolen bases. Sophomore Amanda D'Alessio picked up two key hits when summoned into the game due to injury. The Lancers will play its 2003 home opener on Saturday, April 5 when the Holmdel Hornets visit for a 2PM B-North contest.

St. John Vianney defeated Holmdel 10-0 on a cold and blustery day in Holmdel. Amanda Rooney picked up her first career hits and RBI's in the victory. The win improves the Lancers record to 2-0 with a key B-North match-up against Raritan ahead on Tueaday.

St. John Vianney pounded out 15 hits and allowed none as they rolled to an 11-0 B-North victory over the Bucs in Little Silver. Tricia Reingle and Kacie Galbraith combined on the 5-inning no-hitter. Galbraith made her Vianney mound debut in the game and pitched the final two innings of the game. Tina Philburn knocked in three runs, including the games first runs with a bases loaded single that drove in two. Vianney will face B-North rival Raritan in a home game on April 16.

St. John Vianney defeated rival Red Bank Catholic 2-0 in a non-conference game in Holmdel. Trish Reingle struck out eight in the complete game, 2-hit effort. Jen Trace was 2 for 3 with an RBI and two stolen bases. Trace was instrumental in helping the Lancers take the lead when her second inning double advanced Candice Ruffler to third. Ruffler would eventually score on an illegal pitch called against RBC starter Natalie Cruz. Trace gave Vianney an insurance run when her 6th inning single plated Amanda D'Alessio who had stolen second base after pinch-running for Tina Philburn. Vianney will travel north to Caldwell to take part in the Mt. St. Dominic Invitational on Saturday to face the host school and IHA.

St. John Vianney traveled to the Mt. St. Dominic's Invitational and handed its hosts a 2-1 loss in the first game of a doubleheader. Trish Reingle scattered five hits and struck out eleven in picking up the victory. Vianney scored all its runs in the opening frame of the afternoon. Lauren Taub ripped a one-out double which was followed by a Jess Vreeland walk. Catcher Lauren Incorvaia knocked in Taub with a ground-rule double. An attempted home to first double play by the Lions was misplayed following the out at home, allowing courtesy runner Lauren Galladay to score on the error. With the Lions threatening in the final inning, Vianney third baseman Jaime Tupino turned a third to first double play to end the game. Vianney improves to 6-0 and will face 6th ranked IHA in the nightcap.

St. John Vianney won the second game of its doubleheader at the Mt. St. Dominic Invitational by defeating Immaculate Heart Academy 1-0. Vianney has now won 3 of the last 4 meetings with IHA despite being outscored 8-3 in the process. Trish Reingle picked up her second win of the day, striking out nine in the complete game effort. Amanda D'Alessio scored the games only run when Jess Vreeland hit a two-out single to centerfield in the third inning. Vianney improves its record to 7-0 and will face Matawan in a non-divisional match-up on Monday.

Vianney softball defeated the Huskies of Matawan 3-0 in a Shore Conference non-divisional game in Matawan. Kacie Galbraith scored the games first run when she scored on Trish Reingle's two-out single off Huskies starter Marianne Marinella. The Lancers added two insurance runs in the seventh on a Tina Philburn single and a Candice Ruffler suicide squeeze bunt that scored Jessica Vreeland. Vianney will face Middletown South on April 24 in Holmdel. The Lancers defeated the Eagles 2-1 in 11 innings on opening day.

A two-out, two run single by Jess Vreeland keyed a St. John Vianney rally as the Lancers came from behind to defeat Middletown South, 2-1. Megan Kiefer's fifth inning solo home run gave the Eagles a 1-0 advantage and marked the first time this season that Vianney had trailed. Jen Trace was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the fifth and advanced to second base on a Kacie Galbraith single. A one out walk to Tricia Reingle loaded the bases. Following a strikeout, Jess Vreeland lined a single to left field to plate Trace and Galbraith. Tricia Reingle picked up her ninth win of the season, allowing just one hit and striking out thirteen. Vianney will face Monmouth Regional in a divisional contest on April 25.

Kacie Galbraith picked up the first win of her Vianney career pitching five innings of 1 hit relief in a 7-1 victory over Monmouth. The Lancers scored six times in the first inning as it coasted to victory in Holmdel. Vianney is now 10-0 and will face Holmdel on the road on Tuesday, April 29th.

St. John Vianney improved its record to 11-0 after posting a 12-2 victory over Holmdel in a B-North contest. Lauren Taub was 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI in the victory. Amanda D'Alessio stole 2 bases, scored 2 runs and contributed an RBI double. Kacie Galbraith allowed 2 runs in six innings, strking out eight to pick up her second victory of the season. Vianney will face Raritan in a road game on Thursday, May 1st.

St. John Vianney defeated 16th seeded St. Rose 4-0 and advances to the 2003 Lady Buc Tournament quarterfinals where it will face 8th seeded Freehold Boro. Kacie Galbraith walked, stole second, advanced to third on a Jaime Tupino sacrifice and scored on a Lauren Taub sacrifice fly to give the Lancers the lead in the third inning. Trish Reingle recorded the shut-out, allowing a 7th inning hit to spoil the no-hit bid. Candice Ruffler was 3 for 3 to led the Vianney attack.

St. John Vianney stole five bases and came away with a 7-3 B-North victory over Monmouth in Tinton Falls. Lauren Taub led the attack with 4 stolen bases on the day. She added three runs scored and an RBI, going 3 for 4 in the contest. Amanda Rooney and Kacie Galbraith contributed triples in the winning effort. Vianney will face Red Bank in Holmdel on May 13. A Lancer victory will give Vianney the undisputed Shore Conference Parochial 'A' title and also the unofficial B-North title.

St. John Vianney, behind the no-hit pitching of Tricia Reingle, shut-out the Bucs of Red Bank Regional and officially clinched the first Shore Conference Parochial 'A' championship ever contested. Vianney, with a perfect 11-0 record in B-North divisional play held off Red Bank Catholic for the title. RBC finishes in second place with a 10-2 A-Central record. Vianney will attempt to sweep B-North games with a Thursday afternoon tilt with Neptune.

St. John Vianney scored single runs in the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings en route to a 3-1 victory over 8th seeded Freehold in the Lady Buc quarterfinals in Holmdel. The Lancers built a run in the third when Lauren Incorvaia led off the inning with a single. Laura Aniello ran for Incorvaia and was advanced to second on a Tina Philburn sacrifice. Following a groundout by Candice Ruffler that advanced the runner to third, Aniello scored after Jennifer Trace's infield grounder was misplayed. Trace had battled back from an 0-2 count, fouling off several pitches before the run producing play. Top-seeded Vianney advances to the Lady Buc semifinals where it will face the winner of the Middletown South/Manasquan quarterfinal.

St. John Vianney scored two runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Linden Tigers 3-1 in non-conference play. Trish Reingle led off the inning with a double and was replaced by Amanda D'Alessio. Lauren Incorvaia reached on a bunt single and her replacement, Laura Aniello stole second. Tina Philburn grounded to short, allowing D'Alessio to score on a close play at the plate. Candice Ruffler provided the insurance run with a perfectly executed squeeze bunt that scored Aniello. Vianney will face 15th seeded Shore Regional in first round play of the Shore Conference Tournament on May 22nd. Vianney is now 22-1 as the regular season concludes.

VIANNEY DROPS RBC, ADVANCE TO SECTIONAL FINAL

St. John Vianney defeated arch-rival Red Bank Catholic 10-0 in an NJSIAA South Jersey Parochial 'A' semi-final and advance to play Bishop Ahr in the sectional final next week. Vianney plated six runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth to win via the mercy rule. Trish Reingle allowed one hit and drove in four runs on the day. Reingle's three run homer gave the Lancers a 6-0 lead and her 2-out double scored the games final run. Amanda Rooney was 3 for 3 with two RBI's on the day. Vianney now stands at 24-1 and faces Manasquan in an SCT quarterfinal on Friday, May 30.

Manasquan scored two second inning runs and held on to oust the defending champion Lancers 2-1 in a quarterfinal round Shore Conference Tournament game in Holmdel. Vianney cut the lead in half in the third inning when Lauren Taub scored on Tricia Reingle's two-out single. Vianney will look to rebound when it faces Bishop Ahr in the South Jersey Parochial 'A' Championship on Tuesday, June 3rd at Central Regional.

St. John Vianney, 2-time defending state champion advanced to its third straight state final after defeating Bishop Ahr, 5-1. Lauren Taub led off the contest with a double to right field, advanced to third on a Jess Vreeland sacrifice and scored on Tricia Reingle's RBI single. Vianney added another run when Tina Philburn scored on Lauren Incorvaia's RBI triple. Taub, Vreeland and Reingle hooked up again to plate the third Lancer run in the third. Tricia Reingle scattered two hits in picking up her 21st victory of the season, struck out eleven, moving her season strikeout total to 290. Vianney advances to the NJSIAA Parochial 'A' Championship at Toms River North on Saturday, June 7th against Immaculate Heart. Vianney defeated IHA 1-0 in the 2002 title game.

VIANNEY ADVANCES TO BUC FINAL
St. John Vianney registered a 9-1 victory over Middletown South and advanced to its second consecutive Lady Buc Championship game and fourth in five years. Trish Reingle pitched 4 2/3 innings of no-hit ball before being removed to rest for the championship game. Vianney will face second seeded Red Bank Catholic in the final to be held at 5PM today.

Vianney softball was announced today as the second seed in the 2001 NJSIAA South Jersey Parochial 'A' Tournament. Vianney will host seventh seeded Camden Catholic in the opening round on Tuesday, May 29th at 4PM. Defending South Jersey 'A' champion Bishop Ahr received the first seed. The tournament concludes on June 9, 2001 with the NJSIAA Parochial 'A' championship game at 10:30AM.

St. John Vianney advanced to the second round of the Shore Conference Tournament with a 5-0 victory over 20th seeded Mater Dei in Holmdel. Lauren Taub pitched her second shutout of the season, scattering seven hits while striking out nine. Jessica Vreeland was 3 for 3 with a double while Tami Coyle stole three bases and knocked in a run with a suicide squeeze bunt in the first. Vianney will face the 2001 Ocean County champion Raiders of Toms River East in the next round of the SCT.

Junior pitcher Kelly Foglia picked up her first career victory in her first career start as the Lancers defeated the Green Wave of Long Branch 13-3. The Lancers, now 15-7 will face Mater Dei in the opening round of the 2001 Shore Conference Tournament on Thursday, May 17th in Holmdel.

St. John Vianney softball, 2-time Shore Conference Tournament champions were seeded 13th at the seeding meeting for the 2001 tournament. The 14-7 Lancers will face 20th seeded Mater Dei in a preliminary round match-up. The winner will face 4th seeded Toms River East in a second round game. Middletown South received the #1 seed followed by Freehold Township, Southern and Toms River East. Manalapan, Ocean, Manchester, Shore, Central and Lacey round out the top 10.

The Lancers, finalists in 1999 and 2000 were tied 2-2 with Wall when starting pitcher Jackie Adelfio left the game with an injury. Jess Vreeland paced the Lancer attack with three hits. Vianney will take on rival Red Bank Catholic in a B-North match-up on Monday, May 14th.

St. John Vianney defeated Bishop Eustace 6-3 in the opening round of the MKA Invitational Tournament. Suzanne Gorczynski was 2-4 with a homer and 3 RBI's to pace Vianney in the victory. Lauren Taub added a 3 for 4 effort including a triple and two stolen bases. Jackie Adelfio picked up her twelfth win of the season, scattering eight hits in the complete game victory. Montclair-Kimberley Academy trounced the Lancers 16-2 in the championship game of the MKA Invitational in Montclair. The Cougars jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead after an error allowed two MKA baserunners to score. Katrina Sjo-Gaber allowed two runs on five hits in her second start of the season in earning the tournaments outstanding pitcher award. Vianney will face B-North rival Ocean Township with hopes of evening the divisional race. The Lancers dropped a 2-0 decision to the Spartans on April 14th.

Middletown South pushed 3 runs across the plate in the game's 4th-inning to register a 3-0 victory over the Lancers in Lincroft. Tami Coyle, Tina Philburn and Lauren Taub registered hits for Vianney. The Lancers take on Bishop Eustace on Sunday, May 6th in the opening round of the MKA Invitational. Vianney is the tournament's defending champion.

Monday, April 30

Vianney softball improved its record to 11-1 with a 5-1 victory over Red Bank in Holmdel. Sue Gorczynski was 3-4 with a double to lead the Lancers to victory in a B-North clash. Jaime Komar connected on two hits while Jen Trace contributed an RBI double and a steal of home in the 6th. SJV will clash with #1 Middletown South on Thursday, May 3rd.

St. John Vianney defeated Monmouth Regional 10-0 in the opening round of the 2001 Lady Buc Softball Tournament. Junior Suzanne Gorczynski had a bases-loaded double in a five run 2nd inning to lead the Lancers. Vianney will travel to 4th seeded Wall in the tournament's quarterfinal round.

St. John Vianney improved its record to 9-1 with a 3-0 victory on the road at Wall. Jackie Adelfio scattered four hits in the shutout. Adelfio also knocked in two runs with a pair of doubles. Vianney will take on 12th seeded Monmouth on Saturday, April 28th in the Lady Buc opening round.

Vianney softball picked up three wins this week to improve its record to 9-1. The Lancers shut out Long Branch, Matawan and Wall to extend its season long winning streak to seven games. Vianney will take on Monmouth Regional in the Lady Buc Tournament, Saturday, April 28 at 1:30PM.

St. John Vianney defeated Governor Livingston, the #1 team in Union County in the opening game of the Mt. St. Dominic Invitational. Suzanne Gorczynski drove in 5 runs in Vianney's 9-2 victory over the Highlanders. Gorczynski belted a grand slam homerun, the first over the fence homer at Mt. St. Dominic since the installation of the fence. Vianney improves to 5-1 with the victory and faces New Jersey's top ranked team, Immaculate Heart Academy in the second game of the twinbill.

Saturday, April 21
SJV DEFEATS #1 IHA IN THRILLER
St. John Vianney defeated Immaculate Heart Academy, NJ's #1 team with a thrilling 1-0, 12 inning victory at the Mt. St. Dominic Invitational. Alyssa Courtney scored when Stephanie Torpey was hit with a bases loaded pitch with two out in the 12th. Jackie Adelfio went the distance, striking out twelve and walking none. Vianney improves its record to 6-1 with the victory.

Wednesday, April 18
VIANNEY DOWNS RBC IN THRILLER

St. John Vianney snapped its four game losing streak against RBC with an 8-4 victory over the Casey's in Red Bank. Tami Coyle snapped a 4-4 tie with an 8th-inning, two out single that drove in 2 runs. The ensuing error enabled two additional runs to score on the play. Vianney last defeated RBC in 1997, when it won five games over the Casey's in the SCT championship season. Vianney takes on Governor Livingston and top ranked IHA in the Mt. St. Dominic's Invitational on Saturday, April 21st.

St. John Vianney was awarded the 5th seed in the 2001 edition of the Lady Buc Tournament. Twelth seeded Monmouth Regional will be Vianney's opponent in the county tournament's opening round. Middletown South received a bye as the tournament's #1 seed. Ocean, 2-0 victors over SJV on April 14th is seeded second. The complete seeding order is as follows: 1-Middletown South, 2-Ocean, 3-Freehold Twp., 4-Wall, 5-SJV, 6-RBC, 7-Shore, 8-Middletown North, 9-Manasquan, 10-Manalapan, 11-Mater Dei, 12-Monmouth, 13-Red Bank, 14-Raritan, 15-Howell.

Lauren Taub was 2 for 2, scored 3 runs and knocked in 3 in Vianney's 8-3 victory over the Rockets in Raritan. Vianney improves its record to 3-1 and play the Casey's of Red Bank Catholic in a B-North matchup on Wednesday, April 18th.

Saturday, April 14

Ocean Township scored single runs in the second and third innings and defeated the Lancers 2-0 in Holmdel. Arielle Weinkofsky scattered 4 hits in shutting out the Lancers. With the loss, Vianney falls a game back in the division race behind Ocean and Red Bank Catholic. St. John Vianney will face division rival Raritan on Monday, April 16th.

St. John Vianney's game with Monmouth Regional was cancelled one inning into the game due to unplayable field conditions. The Lancers had taken a 1-0 lead on hits by Tami Coyle and Jackie Adelfio and a pair of walks. Vianney will take on division rival Ocean on April 12th.

Wednesday, April 4
LANCERS SURVIVE BUC ATTACK

St. John Vianney rallied from a two-run deficit and defeated Red Bank 10-2 in a B-North match-up. Sue Gorczynski tied the game with a clutch two run,two out double in the 3rd. Sophomore Jen Trace drove home the go-ahead run with a two-out bunt single scoring Jess Vreeland in the fourth. Gorczynski added an RBI in the 6th for the Lancers. Tami Coyle contributed a 3 hit effort, including a run scoring double in the 6th. Vianney is now 2-0 on the season and face the 2-0 Monmouth Golden Falcons on April 7th.

PERFECTION FOR ADELFIO

St. John Vianney junior Jackie Adelfio tossed her first career perfect game in the season opener versus Matawan. Adelfio struck out 13 Matawan batters in the sterling effort. Vianney scored four runs in each of the first two innings in rolling to the 10-0 victory. Katy Brown and Jessica Vreeland each recorded their first career hits in the winning effort. Vianney will face Red Bank in B-North action on April 4th.

LANCER SEASON ENDS WITH LOSS TO AHR

St. John Vianney's 2000 season ended with a 3-0 loss to Bishop Ahr in the South Jersey Parochial 'A' Championship game in Delran. Ahr scored three first-inning runs and held the Lancers scoreless to advance to the Parochial 'A' Final in Toms River. Vianney ends its season with a 23-7 mark, tying a school record for victories. Vianney secured its seventh consecutive division title, sharing the B-North Championship with Wall. The Lancers also were crowned as champions of the MKA Invitational Tournament, defeating MKA and Mt. St. Dominics in the one-day event. Vianney has posted a record of 109-22-1 over the past five seasons.

VIANNEY ADVANCES TO SECTIONAL FINAL

St. John Vianney advanced to its 6th state sectional final in seven years with a 2-0 victory over Gloucester Catholic in a semi-final match-up. The Lancers will face 4th seeded Bishop Ahr, 2-1 winners over top-seeded Red Bank Catholic. With the victory, Vianney matches last years victory total of 23 games, tying a school record.
