Policy Regarding Scout/Travel Baseball
Cougar parents and supporters,

As we rapidly approach the upcoming season I'd like to remind you all of a few policies that I talked about and also informed each of you and the players about at the 1st parent meeting that we had. Firstly, when the coaches and players are on the field whether it be after practice or after a game, I don't want anyone on the field other than the coaching staff and players unless otherwise notified. This allows the my staff and myself to make sure that everything that needs to be taken care of is taken care of properly and without distraction. I teach that we finish everything with the same focus and energy as we start with and this pertains to all that we do.  Secondly, although I am a strong supporter of multi- sport athletes within the Ventura High School athletics department, I am not a strong supporter of playing for multiple baseball teams such as scout teams/travel teams once the New Year begins due to the fact that we are just 6 weeks away from opening day and we need to begin our final preparations to have all 3 levels prepared for a successful season. It is my responsibility as well as my staff's to make sure that we are preparing your son's to play baseball to the highest of their ability so that they can succeed both on and off the field. One of these responsibilities is the understanding that baseball is a team sport and each player has a specific role so it is important that each player is there as much as possible in order to contribute positively to our baseball program. We will also do everything in our power to make sure that each player gets the proper exposure to move on and play at the next level, which is why I am bringing in staff members who have several connections at the pro and collegiate level. If you chose to have your son play on a travel/scout team that will be your decision and I will wish your son luck in his baseball career but not only will it be a CIF violation once the regular season starts but it will be in conflict with what we are trying to establish as a program, therefore I have no other option but to enforce strict guidelines on this from Jan 1st until the end of the season, which will hopefully be June 1st in the CIF championship game!
We are off to a an awesome start and I intend to continue building this program and making it a powerhouse baseball program that you,my staff, the community, myself, and more importantly the boys will always take pride in!!
Thank You for your support and understanding,

Always Compete!, Expect to Win!, Earn Everything!
