FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

Q:  WHEN DOES THE SEASON START?
A:       Season starts August 1st and runs through the middle of November

Q:  WHAT ARE THE AGE LIMITS?
A:       Ages for football are 7-14, Cheer 7-15

Q:  WHERE DO YOU PRACTICE?
A:       Practices are held at Sunset Chev Statium and/or the side-back fields at
          Sumner High School. The turf is rotated between teams.

Q:  WHAT TIMES ARE FOOTBALL PRACTICES?
A:       Football practices usually run M-F 6pm-8pm during the summer and Tu, Wed, Thu 
          6pm-8pm once school starts.

Q:  WHAT TIMES ARE CHEER PRACTICES?
A:      Same as football. Cheerleaders will be moved to an indoor facility around the first
          week of October, watch for date and location via email and on the web site.

Q:  WHEN SHOULD I PICK UP MY CHILD?
A:       7:30pm - most announcments are made at the end of practice.

Q:  WILL YOU CANCEL PRACTICE DUE TO BAD WEATHER?
A:       Rarely. We practice in all weather - exceptions would be lightning, earthquakes etc...
          when ever possible it will be posted on the website and sent out via
          email. The team parent and/or coach will place calls if it is a last minuted decision.
 

Q:  WHERE SHOULD I PARK?
A:      Absolutely not in the church parking lot (your car will be towed) - Sumner
         High School will leave the parking lot (just past the baseball field on Washington
         Street) open for our use otherwise park on the street.

Q:  CAN I GO ON THE FIELD TO ASK THE COACH A QUESTION?
A:      We ask that you do not go onto the field during practice. Please wait until after
          practice to approach a coach.

Q:  CAN I BRING MY PET?
A:       Pets on leash only -- Owners must remove any animal waste.

Q:  WE PLAN VACATIONS DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST, WILL
     CAUSE A PROBLEM?

A:      Attendance is important for several reasons including safety. Especially for first 
          year participants who need to learn basic hitting skills.

Q:  IF I AM NOT HAPPY WITH A COACHING DECISION WHO CAN I
     CONTACT?
A:      You must submit the complaint in writing to the Mediator. A form has been provided in
         the handbook, which is in the "handouts" link on the home page.

Q:  WHO DO I NOTIFY IF MY CHILD IS SICK OR HAS A PRIOR
     COMMITMENT DURING GAMES AND/OR PRACTICE?

A:       Please notify your coach or team parent as soon as you know. There is contact 
          information in the "vfca board" link on the home page.

Q:  I AM INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING, HOW DO I BECOME
     INVOLVED?
A:      All parents are encouraged to volunteer time within the VFCA.  Please talk to any
       
 Board Member, Team Parent, or Coach. NEVER ASSUME WE HAVE ENOUGH HELP –
         PLEASE JOIN IN!
