Valley Forge is the longest standing junior girls club in the Philadelphia area, dating to its inception in 1993. Traditionally our Club has been one the strongest in the Keystone Region, winning numerous Regional Championships and Bids to Nationals.
We believe that our coaching staff is unmatched among those in the area. Each of our teams has at least two, and normally three coaches assigned to them to enable more teaching and more personal attention given to team members. Many alumnae of Valley Forge have gone on to play volleyball in college at all levels of play, in Divisions One, Two and Three, some on full or partial scholarships, and others simply to continue playing the sport they grew to love in grade school and high school. We believe that Valley Forge offers the best situation that offers excellence in play, opportunity for personal improvement and development, and for preserving a balance to enable team members to pursue other interests in their lives.
Our primary goal is to offer female junior volleyball players a positive, enriching experience in an environment that promotes individual excellence in balance with a sense of teamwork, unselfishness, mutual respect, and cooperation with others. We expect all team members, parents and coaches to participate in such a manner.
For the 2012 season, Valley Forge will continue to implement an academy style approach to a larger portion of practice time whereby players will be trained by a cadre of our coaches specializing in various sets of individual skills and techniques, positional play and conditioning. Players will be taught uniform methods in areas such as hitting and hitting footwork, blocking and blocking footwork, setting, passing, team defense, serving, etc. Emphasis will be placed on teaching the right techniques and skills to younger players, while refining and adjusting those of more advanced ones.
Team coaches will also work within the skills cadres to assure the transfer of the skills and techniques to team practice sessions. We believe this approach will enable all of our players to obtain the best collective knowledge from our entire club coaching staff, and enable them to develop basic skills and fundamentals needed to assure their growth as players.
This season we will continue to use Dougherty Hall at Malvern Prep as our primary practice facility.
And finally in 2012, Valley Forge is continuing our loyalty discount policy to returning club members from the previous season. Returning members will receive a $100 for each consecutive season that they have been members of the club. For example, someone returning for her 2nd season, will receive a $100 discount; if returning for a 3rd season, a $200 discount will apply, etc.
