VBLL Programs

SPECIAL PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES

1) Challenger:  Designed for Boy’s and Girls with disabilities ages 5 – 18 (by April 30 of the current year) who have mental or physical limitations that would prevent them from participation in regular Baseball or Softball programs. This division of Little League is designed to allow a Child to play regardless of the degree of disability who otherwise would not have the opportunity due to their mental or physical limitations. Children that need assistance or are confined to a wheelchair are allowed to have buddies help them with hitting the ball pitched by the Coach or on a Tee, catching, throwing, and running. We have balls that beep to aid blind children in hitting and fielding the ball with a buddy close by.

BASEBALL PROGRAMS

1) Pre T-Ball: Designed for boys and girls age 4 (by April 30 of the current year) with little or no experience. The goal is to develop basic skill of baseball, teamwork, and sportsmanship. T-Ball uses a “safety" baseball and is hit from a batting tee.

2) T-Ball:  Designed for boys and girls ages 5 - 6 (by April 30) with little or no experience. The goal is to develop basic skill of baseball, teamwork, and sportsmanship. T-Ball uses a “safety" baseball and is hit from a batting tee or live pitch from a coach.

3) Coach Pitch: Designed for boys and girls age 7 - 8 (by April 30 of the current year). With little or no experience. A player league age 6 may participate if they have played one full year of T-Ball as a 5 year old. The goal is to develop basic skills of baseball, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Coach Pitch will use a “safety" baseball and will be pitched by a Pitching Machine.

 

4) Minor Farm: Designed for boys and girls age 8 (by April 30, of the current year) as a follow up to Coach Pitch play which will help the child develop the skills needed to compete in the Minor 9 – 10 program. A regulation baseball is delivered by a pitcher (Player, Coach, or Machine) and an umpire will call strikes and balls on the batter.

5) Minor: Designed for boys and girls ages 9 - 10 (by April 30, of the current year) as a follow up to Coach Pitch play which will help the child develop the skills needed to compete in the Major League. A regulation baseball is delivered by a pitcher (age 9 - 10) and an umpire will call strikes and balls on the batter. In this league, tryouts are held before the season and teams are assembled through the draft process.

 

6) Major: This level is designed for boys and girls ages 11 - 12 (by April 30, of the current year) who have developed advanced skills such that they would no longer benefit from or be challenged by the Minor league program. Advanced instruction is initiated and play becomes much more competitive. Teams are assembled through the tryout and draft process.

7) Junior: This level is designed for boys and girls age 13 - 14 (by April 30, of the current year) as a follow up to Major league play and a farm league for Senior League skill development. The dimensions of the playing field are increased, as is the level of baseball ability and competition. Teams are assembled through the tryout and draft process.

 

8) Senior: This level is designed for boys and girls ages 15 - 16 (by April 30, of the current year) as a follow up to Junior league play. There is an increase in level of baseball ability and competition. Teams are assembled through the tryout and draft process. 

SOFTBALL PROGRAMS

 

1) T-Ball Girls Softball: Designed for girl’s ages 5 - 6 (by December 31, of previous year) with little or no experience. The goal is to develop basic skills of Softball, teamwork, and sportsmanship. An 11" Softball is used and players will hit off of a batting tee.

 

2) Minor Girls Softball: Designed for girl’s ages 7 - 9 (by December 31, of previous year) with little or no experience. The goal is to develop basic skills of Softball, teamwork, and sportsmanship. An 11" Softball will be used and players will hit a live pitch delivered by a (Player, Coach or Machine). Teams will be assembled through the tryout and draft process.  .All new and returning players will enter the draft process.

3) Major Girls Softball: This level is designed for girls ages 10 - 12 (by December 31, of previous). Advanced instruction is initiated and play becomes more competitive. a 12" Softball will be used and teams will be assembled through the tryout and draft process.

 

4) Senior Girls Softball: This level is designed for girls, ages 13 - 16 (by December 31, of previous year) as a follow up to Little League play.  A 12" Softball will be used and teams will be assembled through the tryout and draft process.
