BACKGROUND:  The Virginia Beach Little League Safety program was awarded second place in the Southern Region in 1997 and in 1998 won first place in the Southern Region and also took home the grand prize of first place in the Nation.  The Virginia Beach Little League was awarded a 20% discount on insurance premiums, a $500.00 cash award to spend on safety equipment, and a Musco Light-Structure SystemÔ lighting system worth $32,400.00 to light one 200 foot field. This was accomplished in just four years due to the dedication of all the Virginia Beach Little League volunteers and kids.  The Managers and Coaches understand the importance of Safety Awareness and how it benefits the kids of the Virginia Beach Little League.

SAFETY AWARENESS:  Be on the look out for Safety SAM to help you learn about safety while you play baseball.  Baseball training videos will be available for use by coaches, managers, and players to teach proper skills necessary for safe play.  Education is one of the main ingredients that can make a safer environment. There also is a Team Safety Contest. The best of Virginia Beach Little League will win a Team Pizza Party.
